love the dishes available, and have been here several times already. can get hot though because there's no air-conditioning unit available.

-chocnut champorado: 4/5 (only a small bit of chocnut as topping; just regular champorado)
-salmon and eggs benedict: 5/5 (really flavorful with adequate salmon and yummy eggs ben)
-pancakes: 3/5 (nice to look at; not that good)
-chicken and waffles: 5/5 (love how they cook their chicken! so delicious. also the waffles)
-tuyo and kesong puti breakfast: 5/5 (love it!!! have been craving tuyo for a longtimeand wasn't disappointed!)
-new zealand tapa breakfast: 3.5/5 (was gonna give it a 5/5 because it was perfectly seasoned but when i got to the last three pieces, they were so salty so the tapa wasn't seasoned evenly)

heard good things about other branches of kanto freestyle, so when i heard that one had opened here, i had to try it for myself.
the prices and value for money are good. we ordered the new zealand beef tapa, gourmet sausages, the croque monsieur and the scramble beverage.
the title on the menu for the gourmet sausages is quite misleading. usually when you see something that says, “sausages”, you expect more than one sausage. it should really be called, “gourmet sausage”, to be more on point. but, it was filling and tasted alright. the beef tapa was okay, expected it to taste better to be honest with it saying new zealand beef. the croque monsieur was a bit of a disappointment. i first tried a croque monsieur in a parisian cafe, where it originated, and also make my own when craving for one. so when i saw it on the kanto freestyle menu i had to see what it was like. the bread was barely toasted (should’ve been grilled with some butter), the ham and cheese should be loaded so much that the cheese starts to melt and ooze out from between the bread. there were only single slices of ham and cheese within this one. i actually got them to package it so i could take it home and try to improve it myself.
i will be back to try some other things on their menu. i hope nexttimeit will be better.

thirdtimeat kanto but firsttimein vito cruz taft branch. the place is usually full of students studying nearby. the service is slow. i ordered goya and chocnut pancake because the crew said it’s their best seller. i’m not a chocolate dish but i liked it. my companions ordered the dangit and new zealand beef tapa. it was good.

went here for a monday brunch. the place has a good homey feeling to it and the staff is very accommodating. the food is good for its price, considering that they offer a generous amount of serving. we enjoyed the dishes, they were tasty and also pleasing to look at. their vigan longganisa is a must-try. however, the pancakes that we ordered were dense and not fluffy at all.

i would recommend this place to those who enjoy a hearty, savory breakfast at anytimeof the day. although, it could get a bit crowded and steamy (especially on the first floor) since they don't have an a/c.

this is one of my go-to restaurants in taft. if you’re a big fan of breakfast food, then you won’t go wrong with this place.

the place is very much welcoming and the staff attends to the customers immediately. there are no air conditioning in the restaurant but the fans are enough to keep the area air-breezed.

you get what you pay for in terms of amount, but surprisingly tastier than i expected. the food usually takes around 10-15 minutes to be served but we hardly notice thetimebecause the place is always relaxing enough to enjoy chatting.

for the bestsellers, my go-to dishes are the pampanga tocino, nz beef tapa, vigan longganisa, and honey garlic chicken (you also have the option on how you want your eggs to be cooked)

you’ll find the restaurant on leon guinto st. beside a newly built korean eat-all-you-can bbq.

would definitely recommend this branch to my friends!

i am always been a fan of kanto freestyle in kapitolyo. so when i moved in to malate and found out there is a branch here, it is the first restaurant i went to visit. i only ordered bacon and egg. it is not crispy as the bacon in kapitolyo but it is still good. i have got notimeto eat pancakes that is why i can't compare their pancakes yet. but all in all it still deserves 5*s.

was super excited when kanto opened next to the building i lived in (while i lived in manila). i used to go to their pioneer branch a lot in the years before but always had to drive, so it was exciting to have them within walking distance.

unfortunately the quality of service has deteriorated in this branch. i thought at first it was just because people might be tired late at night, but on multiple instances (at different times of day) the staff were inattentive, unwelcoming, and sometimes downright rude. not giving us menus, not giving us water (despite being asked), not smiling even when greeted, and onetimethey even refused to open the second floor area even though no seats were available on the first. they just advised us to wait for a table to free up. (there's no airconditioning on either floor, so i don't understand what energy was being conserved that they couldn't open both floors.) this was at around 7:00 a.m., so i imagine that's building up to a peak hour for a breakfast place. i stopped going here after that incident.

i've since left manila and am hanging out back at the original branch. worth the drive.

in case you do wind up here, the food that's as good as it is in the other kanto branches are champorado and vigan longganisa.

our group of 5 arrived at 6:30 a.m. two of us have already eaten here before and highly recommended the honey garlic chicken. i tried it and it was great. serving size was filling and the rice was more than enough. the small cup of kapeng barako was also good.

ambience was cozy as they only have a few tables in the ground level.

servingtimewas also reasonable.

i would return to taste other food here.

my secondtimein this branch and the service was fast. the serving size and quality of the food matched the price, but the tomato pesto tasted more like a regular tomato now.

i've always been a fan of kanto ever since i first tried them about 3 years ago in their mandaluyong branch.

knowing that they opened a branch near my office is just thrilling and i had to visit them.

i ordered my usual order of honey garlic chicken(and new zealand tapa for my friend. for drinks we got some iced mocha. and to top it all off, we ordered fried oreos and taho panna cotta.

here are the prices of each:

• new zealand beef tapa – php 150
• honey garlic chicken - php 138
• deep fried oreos – php 84
• taho panna cotta – php 95
• iced mocha – php 70

before i judge the food, let's talk about the ambiance. the facade is an old manila house with all its interiors from way back when in tact.. the inside of course renovated to have a modern feel.. it feels very homey to be honest.

they have 2 floors and i guess ample space for diners but when we got there, a line was forming.

the place is fan cooled with the exception of the conference/vip room they have which has an ac.

i love the homey vibe. 😊

okay, let's move on the food.

here's the thing, i'm a patron of kanto and what i love about them is their consistency in quality. i've tried other branches and eachtimethey taste the same and served the same.. i love it every time. 😊

the fried oreos and taho panna cotta is an exception though. it was my firsttimetrying those. the fried oreos is okay, the taho panna cotta is..something else.. i kinda like it but i also think it kinda needs more sweetness to it.. thought that's just me..

the service is okay too...

overall, i would recommend to try them out.. 😊 they are affordable considering the servings they give and the quality of food served.

other must try items:
pancakes!!

i did a resto feature of kanto freestyle, la salle on my facebook page called feast your eyes ph, hope you can check it out!

p.s the reason why it's just 4 stars because, i think itstimethey have a new menu or maybe add new items 😊

came here twice within a week - once for breakfast, once for dinner. overall value for money - 1sttime380 for two, 2ndtime300 for 2 (no drinks). tapa and chicken are on the oilier side but still quite good. i loved the pancakes. the waffle was a bit on the drier side. i would come back again albeit for breakfast!

first thing — the place isn't air conditioned, but we came when it was raining so temperature wasn't a problem. upon going upstairs, i felt a 'probinsya' vibe with their interiors and decors. the food was cheap and quickly served (about less than 10 minutes). it wasn't that bad, but it wasn't notable either because their honey garlic chicken was a bit bland while their new zealand tapa was too salty (according to my friend). their comfort room also didn't smell so nice, which was a major turn off for a nice place. however, the place and food are still decent for students who have littletimeto eat!

august 27, 2018 it's so nice to walk around the taft-malate area when there are no classes. there are hardly any cars and the sidewalks are crowd free making it easier to get from here to there. puppycat and i decided to have brunch at kanto freestyle. this is our firsttimeat this place and the following are what we ordered:

kapeng kano - there's that batangas brewed coffee taste but it looked a bit watered down to me. but hey it's 50 pesos so i got what i paid for. they gave me a glass with ice for me to transfer the hot coffee into. i wanted it cold. just to be clear it already looked pale even in the coffee cup.

vigan longganisa with 2 sunnyside up eggs, fried tomatoes and garlic rice - yessssssss! this was the bomb. i also liked their seasoned vinegar. there are 4 pieces of longganisa that are savory garlicky, burnt on the outside but thankfully still juicy on the inside. the fried tomatoes tasted like it had basil oil on it. the eggs were not overcooked. a little bit of rice, some egg, a pinch of that tomato and a sliver of the longganisa with vinegar all in 1 spoon makes for the perfect bite. one complaint though, how come other people who've posted their pictures here got 2 tomatoes while i only got 1?!? i demand a recount! also, i hate it how they almost ruined this dish by overcooking the longganisa.

peanut butter and banana pancakes - this was terribly disappointing. first off, it says peanut butter but when i tasted the sauce on top it was chocnut. i have nothing against chocnut but that's so far from what was advertised. it's beautifully plated but the pancakes were not fluffy, as in it was like stale bread. like when i was cutting into it it wouldn't separate that easy. it was so dense, it gave me the impression that it wasn't newly cooked. they probably have pre-made some and just heated them up hence the stale texture. i thought boxed maya pancakes are better than this. the fried sugared bananas though are great. also the sauce was only on the pancake on top so the rest of them have nothing not even butter. i heard another diner asking for more syrup and the sever said that's an additional 5 pesos.

4 pieces of bacon with garlic rice - puppycat had this as in she freestyled her order. each piece of bacon is 39 pesos and then she just ordered the sinangag to go with that. it's worth it though cause each bacon slice is meaty and large enough.

i'm still giving them a 3 even if it was a pancake fail because they have fairly decent rice meals. their service crew are also very attentive and friendly. next time, i'll stick to ordering their savory fare. the menu here does not reflect their current prices, cause i'm sure it's a bit higher now but still quite affordable.

i previously scored them a 4 but i brought them down to 3. i've been scanning the pictures of other reviewers and it's quite clear they don't have consistency when it comes to making their dishes. this place is a hit and miss sort of restaurant.

we will probably still give this place another try but not anytime soon.
