there is no beating rodic's tapsilog in a one-on-one match, or maty's in a fight for the second. kanto, however brings new fighters in their breakfast game, from corned beef balls to the infamous croque madamme, back to classic vigan longganisa you name it!

verdict: the flavors are a bit underwhelming. i would have given it a 3.5 for the honeygarlicchicken which was cooked beautifully. there is the certain problem of ventilation however that pulls it back to a 3. you get what you pay for, but considering the place they are situated in, perhaps a little rethinking might be due. they were still in their soft opening when i went, so i leave room for doubt in the little "kulang"s i encountered.

i would no doubt return to this place to check out the other items in their menu, and hopefully find more things to love about filipino breakfasts.

ordered tapsilog and was quite disappointed. for a place that specializes on breakfast menu, they need to improve. thegarlicfried rice is very bland, lacksgarlicand almost close to be considered as plain rice. the serving for the tapa is very little-i got like 5 pcs on my plate. i also specified that the eggs should be well done (since they asked) and the eggs on my plate were still very runny.

maybe would come back to try their pancakes next time.

staff is friendly though. and cozy ambiance.

i'm a regular for a reason. their chicken meals are always so huge and delicious. relatively quickly served than expected, of course just not in peak hours. i always order either honeygarlicchicken or chicken and waffle (which by the way is quite affordable for its huge serving and compared to cafe prices), then when in doubt i go for vigan longganisa which hasn't failed me. super good, highly recommend if not for few dishes that misses, like spanish sardines tempura or eggs benedict. i'll just warn you about the benedict dishes, i have tried once and i got really disappointed because it was too sour and too expensive for a sandwich.

this is one of my go-to restaurants in taft. if you’re a big fan of breakfast food, then you won’t go wrong with this place.

the place is very much welcoming and the staff attends to the customers immediately. there are no air conditioning in the restaurant but the fans are enough to keep the area air-breezed.

you get what you pay for in terms of amount, but surprisingly tastier than i expected. the food usually takes around 10-15 minutes to be served but we hardly notice the time because the place is always relaxing enough to enjoy chatting.

for the bestsellers, my go-to dishes are the pampanga tocino, nz beef tapa, vigan longganisa, and honeygarlicchicken (you also have the option on how you want your eggs to be cooked)

you’ll find the restaurant on leon guinto st. beside a newly built korean eat-all-you-can bbq.

would definitely recommend this branch to my friends!

went there for sunday brunch. the place was packed with people and was a bit steamy, since they don’t have aircon.
the honeygarlicchicken had a big serving size, which will definitely fill you up. the sweet notes was appropriate for a breakfast meal, and was balanced by the creamy mayo sauce they gave. the tomato pesto side dish was very fresh and juicy - i loved it!
the dangit tasted fresh, and the vigan longganisa had a good blend the garlic, sweet and salty flavors (though it’s a bit different from the authentic ones).
the pancakes were a bit too dense, but otherwise, the batter was good.

the service was a bit slow tho, so prepare to wait for a while.

overall, it was a great experience. i would definitely go back there again!

a very food place for breakfaat before start your day. i went to kanto in de la salle branch. i ordered corned beef package, that almost like fritter. the package comes out withgarlicfried rice, two sunny side egga, and fried tomato. i also wanted to order the chicken longganisa, but unavailable at that time :( the corned was great. deep fried well.

our group of 5 arrived at 6:30 a.m. two of us have already eaten here before and highly recommended the honeygarlicchicken. i tried it and it was great. serving size was filling and the rice was more than enough. the small cup of kapeng barako was also good.

ambience was cozy as they only have a few tables in the ground level.

serving time was also reasonable.

i would return to taste other food here.

i would rate this nearly at level, for starters see the 39 php bacon on the photo. that made me ... hohumm. i would say they have creative items in the menu and decently priced quality meals like the honeygarlicchicken, the pandesal pimiento with cheese and pesto, the eggs benedict, the waffle selection, etc. but hey, please re-evaluate the bacon (peace). the place is quaint and service quite fast. i would like to go back and check other menu items. no, i wouldn't order the bacon solo again : )

i've always been a fan of kanto ever since i first tried them about 3 years ago in their mandaluyong branch.

knowing that they opened a branch near my office is just thrilling and i had to visit them.

i ordered my usual order of honeygarlicchicken(and new zealand tapa for my friend. for drinks we got some iced mocha. and to top it all off, we ordered fried oreos and taho panna cotta.

here are the prices of each:

• new zealand beef tapa – php 150
• honeygarlicchicken - php 138
• deep fried oreos – php 84
• taho panna cotta – php 95
• iced mocha – php 70

before i judge the food, let's talk about the ambiance. the facade is an old manila house with all its interiors from way back when in tact.. the inside of course renovated to have a modern feel.. it feels very homey to be honest.

they have 2 floors and i guess ample space for diners but when we got there, a line was forming.

the place is fan cooled with the exception of the conference/vip room they have which has an ac.

i love the homey vibe. 😊

okay, let's move on the food.

here's the thing, i'm a patron of kanto and what i love about them is their consistency in quality. i've tried other branches and each time they taste the same and served the same.. i love it every time. 😊

the fried oreos and taho panna cotta is an exception though. it was my first time trying those. the fried oreos is okay, the taho panna cotta is..something else.. i kinda like it but i also think it kinda needs more sweetness to it.. thought that's just me..

the service is okay too...

overall, i would recommend to try them out.. 😊 they are affordable considering the servings they give and the quality of food served.

other must try items:
pancakes!!

i did a resto feature of kanto freestyle, la salle on my facebook page called feast your eyes ph, hope you can check it out!

p.s the reason why it's just 4 stars because, i think its time they have a new menu or maybe add new items 😊

i've tried the honeygarlicchicken and the eggs benedict. the chicken's really great, it's sweet and savory at the same time. though i think the sauce that comes with it varies everyday(?). the eggs benedict was okay, and i like how they used pandesal for the bread so it feels light and homey with a touch of paprika to spice things up. overall, this place is really nice; a really good merienda tbh. the price is pretty great for the quality of the food. i'd definitely come back to try more of their stuff.

food: 4/5. we ordered thegarlicbutter chicken as usual, the french toast with bacon and eggs, the all-time favourite of my boyfriend which is the goya chocnut ganache pancake and the scramble. one thing i liked about their food is that the presentation, it looks so fancy and super exciting to dig in, it looks like it came from an expensive restaurant. the food was also delicious specially their pancakes, it was fluffy as usual and the buttered chicken was to die for as always. the only thing i didn’t like was the french toast, maybe because i’ve had a lot of french toast that were so amazing that made my standards high.

service: 4/5. they were very polite and friendly. the only thing that made me rate 4 instead of 5 was that they did not have the basic condiments.

ambience: 4/5. compared to their p. burgos branch, this branch was crowded and had a smaller space.

hot chocolate - masarap. not too sweet. sosyal ang baso, lakas maka-madam 😄

first thing — the place isn't air conditioned, but we came when it was raining so temperature wasn't a problem. upon going upstairs, i felt a 'probinsya' vibe with their interiors and decors. the food was cheap and quickly served (about less than 10 minutes). it wasn't that bad, but it wasn't notable either because their honeygarlicchicken was a bit bland while their new zealand tapa was too salty (according to my friend). their comfort room also didn't smell so nice, which was a major turn off for a nice place. however, the place and food are still decent for students who have little time to eat!
