wow thisplaceis fantastic! i honestly don't think you're going to find a better burger in brissie. they burgers taste delicious and are so generous, with really fresh ingredients. i am so keen to try all of them! we drive all the way from the north side to get them, and it is always worth it, plus the beer battered chips are ridiculously good as well!

came here for a burger as we have been here before. saturday night, and it was busy just before dinner time 7pm. thisplaceis located in the suburbs at a small shopping complex.

plenty of tables, order at counter and food is table service. big menu and plenty of options.

i went with the hangover burger, family chips to share. as there were 5 of us in total.

was a busy period and the wait was expected which we didn't mind.

what came out was a large burger. it was a decent burger, was hard to eat however all the elements were there, beef pattie, bacon, egg, and salad. most burgers at this size will fall apart, just nature.

they were good, we all enjoyed the food.

there is a reason they have a zomato score of 4.4! the burgers are not only huge, they are so friggin' tasty! the simplicity of the joint is spot on. no fancy decor, no advertising and mark ups. just an excellent product with good old fashioned service.
the beef patty looks like its housemade and so thick and juicy. i could hardly get my mouth around the burger!
came on a sunday night and the car park was full with the patronage being purely for just poppys! there is live music on friday, saturday & sunday nights which was not offensive and made it feel like an enjoyable night out.
theplacehad a constant flow of take away orders as well as people dining in (inside the small shopping complex and outside the store).
we did have a bit of a wait (15 to 20 mins), but theplacewas pumping and it was well worth it. there is no way i would go back to grill'd or maccas after coming here.
a real sense of being part of the local community with a weekly trivia night and also byo with no corkage. you just have to being your own cup/plastic wine glass.
i will definitely return with an apple cider to enjoy with my burger and finish off with dessert just around the corner at just gelato & shakes.

had been waiting to visit thisplacefrom the time i arrived in brisbane. finally got the opportunity to visit this legendaryplaceand it didn't disappoint.
to my surprise, they have a shop next door that sells only ice creams and shakes by the name of just gelato & shakes. the two make an amazing combination for someone not looking to have the usual meal.
we ordered the queenslander and the cheese me please burger along with shakes from next door. the burger is the best thing that i have had since betty's and for the price, i was upset that there is nothing like this in sydney.
a must visit for people in brisbane, irrespective of burger craving or not.

went here on the weekend. it was busy but the service was quick and friendly. we changed the burgers a bit and they got the order correct. burgers were great. partner rates them higher than grill’d and burger urge. only disappointment was the sweet potato chips were overcooked. the onion rings were great though. highly recommend giving thisplacea go. we got take away and went to a local park to look at the river whilst eating but they have plenty of nice timber tables to eat at as well.

fantastic choice of burgers. the burgers themselves are huge, filled with heaps of good quality topping. nothing greasy about them. my favourite is troppo chick with bacon added. cheesy wheezy fries are also amazing. thisplacewill really fill you up at a reasonable price.

we had heard about just poppy's, and after a while we decided to try it out. as we are not locals to the area, we made the hike down to middle park. with all the other burger options around, a burgerplaceneed to have something special to go there. all i can say is that, it doesn't matter where you live, it is a worthwhile trip to make!

our first time there, we were absolutely overwhelmed like most people with the range of burgers. thank goodness it was busy so we had more time to peruse and pick. the menu is quite expansive, as they promote "69 bloody great burgers". you can order a burger with either chicken, lamb, pork, fish, rib fillet, meat free, and hamburger. some of the fillings are different but blend really well. the staff are delightful and really make you feel at home straight away.it has a feeling of a family business. apparently it has been there for 10 years. we decided and ordered our food. considering how busy they were, meals do not take long to make. we received our meals and headed home. as the trip home took a good 15 minutes, the burgers were still very fresh and tasted so great! the ingredients are fresh and the work well with whatever meat you are having.

since that first adventure to just poppy's, we have been there half a dozen times trying to work our way through the menu. the hardest thing is probably wanting to try all of the menu but also wanting to order ones that you already have had as it was so delicious! not a bad problem to have really! so far, the picks have definitely been 3 little pigs, calypso and the cowboy. they all have different elements that work so well with the burger. they also have chips with different sauces and the usual snack hot box range, but that just fills you up from the burger. just poppy's is aplacethat should be tried!

i've been here a few times and i still don't really get the hype. on one hand there is a lot of variety in burgers so there is something for everyone, but i wouldn't say that the burgers here are any better than those of well known established burger chains. the burgers have a pretty home made taste and i find that they are always lacking in sauce which makes the burgers a bit flavorless. of the different burgers i've tried here i have never found one that has any particular "wow" factor that would enable thisplaceto live up to the reputation it has cultivated. something that i found most surprising was that the menu shows the burgers to be loaded with a pretty large selection of ingredients - one would imagine this meant that the burgers would have a lot of flavor - but nope, just really bland and fairly tasteless regardless what is put on them. i didn't find the flavored chip options that great, and the chips they use are not of the greatest thickness and quality - always really limp and rubbery.

justy poppy's - middle park, brisbane. if you lived in the area, it would be one of those kinds of places that is too good to be true. right in the middle of suburbia, after several turns off the main road, just poppy's sits there quietly but not so hidden as all the buzz about their fare has reached many keen ears. my dining buddy was going through a phase of trying out all the great burger places, and this was one that was certainly on the radar; for the two of us it was quite a drive, but what a payoff it was. whether or not there is an agreement that they have earned the title, "brisbane's best burgers" they certainly are among the best for several reasons.

the shopping center where it is located does not have much else going from it, and looks near decrepit. on the bright side, getting a space to park the car should not be any issue. as for the actualplacein itself, it has a nice clean interior that is bright orange and the structure to go and order is well thought out. it is a squeeze into the corner, but the ordering counter is right to the side while diners can attempt to decide from the menu, stuck in the window double sided. there is a big hot box in the center, plus a massive drinks fridge and a freezer full of treats home ice cream. a handful of tables and chairs are out the front on the pavement to sit and eat your meal. it is nothing atmospheric, but it does do its job.

considering that after all is said and done, just poppy's is merely a takeaway place. in saying that, the service is actually really good. the young lady that was there when my dining buddy and i ate there was friendly and had a pleasant demeanor. she even brought out the order to us at the table, which is a nice touch to the place. the orders come out quick, clean and very efficient with everything well organised. at the time, there were not too many people hence it was not super busy.

the burgers at just poppy's are done in the traditional milk-bar style. by this, it means that they take a big, soft bun and fill it with of each ingredient. they are generous with their servings, and the burgers are basically a substantial and filling meal on their own, even with the smaller varieties. there is something for all tastes here, as it should be with a grand total of 69 burgers to choose from, all with cute names and clever taglines. these include rib fillets, vegetarian versions, chicken, lamb, pork and several types of fish as well as classical hamburger and an experimental selection. expect to see some strange, unusual and inventive concoctions as well as some standards (but hint, with the available selection just go weird). in addition to the massive burger menu, it doubles slightly as a small fish and chip shop with various little snacks. there are also the fries in many varieties to have on the side of the burger.

going for broke, and going the whole hog i went for the big burger as usual. the name was "flood it". if you thought a burger with the lot was too humdrum for you this throws basically everything but the kitchen sink between the burgers, here it goes. on the flood it, the burgers contains *inhale* a meat patty, fried egg, bacon, pineapple, cheese, avocado, haloumi, grilled onion, lettuce, tomato, beetroot, and choice of sauce - which i ordered "special". *exhale* also, i added on some banana to finish off the whole ordeal. boy howdy was it huge; getting your mouth around it is only the first challenge. this is one where you are inevitably going to be making a mess, and it is a meal unto itself.

everything is done cooked to order at just poppy's, and the salad items are also fresh, appropriately bright and crunchy as it should be. as can be expected, there was plenty of lettuce that it was already spilling out, plus the pineapple was plump, juicy and sweet, and the tomato and beetroot were both likewise. what makes a good burger is the patty, where this one was great; the beef was good quality and it held the burger together. on it, the avocado was creamy, the bacon crispy, the egg well done, perfectly cooked haloumi with the right amount of bite in it, the characteristic sweetness of onion, good and rich mushrooms and a sweet caramlised banana topping it all off. to get your daily nutrition worth in a quick meal, flood it probably would do the trick. finishing it off, the bread is good quality and tasted like they buttered it beforehand.

to share with my dining buddy, i got a serving of their cheesy weezy fries on the side. by "serving" that was the middle size, with cup and family being on either side as small and large respectively. these were also quite filling. the actual fries part was well cooked, with the expected hot and soft texture on the inside and a slight crispiness finishing it off on the outside. they also did not skimp on the cheese, which practically smothered the fries. it must have been that cheese whiz from a can that is often used in the united states. to describe the flavour, it had a bit of a tangy bite to it not unlike blue cheese.

my dining buddy got two burgers, thinking that two of the cheaper ones would equal smaller portions; he was in for a surprise. therefore, with his second one, he asked if i wanted to split it in half - i said yes. this had the simple name of "spud burger" where a homemade potato scallop acted as the patty with a simple selection of cheese, bacon, tomato, and choice of sauce. even the potato scallops are done fresh at the source, with *huge* slices of potato that are done in a well-constructed batter that is still light, but a few shades heavier than tempura. it is really simple, with a good and inoffensive combination of tomato, cheese and bacon and is also filling, but perhaps for a smaller stomach.

just poppy's well-and-truly knows what it is. this is the epitome of burgers, being spoiled for choice and having all sorts of options that allow even the most seasoned burger eater to find something they have not done before. for the sheer amount of choice that there is here, it will be hard to top both the scope and the number. now, the biggest challenge afterwards is knowing which ones sound the best and what one in particular you are going to order. nevertheless, that is all the more incentive to plan multiple return visits in the near future.

you pay for what you get.. i saw the rating on thisplacecompared to some of the other burger places that i believe have great burgers and assumed i would be in for a good burger. i learnt a valuable lesson tonight don't just trust the rating. yes it was cheap i actually got 2 burgers rather than burger and chips because the burgers were only $6 each. but both burgers were pretty average i felt the worst part was the bun to patty ratio nearly twice as much bun to patty. all in all the burger was average and the vibes were sub par. wouldn't bother with this one unless you want 60 choices of pretty much the same burger from any fish and chip shop.
