disappointing!. i am not generally one to write a bad review of any establishment, product or service. i am a very optimistic person who chooses to see the bright side in any situation. negativity consumes too much energy, in my opinion. :)
i drove out to juliano's this afternoon to try the lunch buffet after reading so many positive reviews about the place. i typically don't frequent sit-down establishments because it is quite difficult to take my two children( a hyper toddler, and a handicapped teenager), but everybody on here was raving about the place...i decided to give it a try.
first, the food was very average. pizza and sandwiches are on par with other pizza restaurants. there was a very good noodle dish with chicken and mushrooms(excellent!), and the dessert they served was also very good and unique(a flaky pastry drizzled with chocolate sauce and powdered sugar). price was average. service was quite friendly and helpful, although i'm not seeing how this place is considered so "family friendly"? place seems very narrow, like you're always in someone's way, and it was not even remotely busy.
the huge disappointment came from an encounter with an employee by the fountain drink station. i'm sure he was an employee, because he was handing a tray of food to someone behind the counter. i was attempting to grab drinks for the kids at the narrow area and accidentally bumped into this man. although i apologized immediately, he seemed very offended and barked out a snarly "excuuuse me!" this pretty much ruined the rest of my dining experience and attempted to leave asap. now, i have worked in service in many capacities. this was not a professional response. seeing the way he was dressed and his age, he appeared to even possibly be the manager or owner? double no-no. anyone working in service, especially management or ownership should never treat a paying customer in this manner. i realize it is annoying to be bumped into, but for goodness sake, it was not on purpose. perhaps the narrowness of the area was to blame, but still... very inappropriate.
needless to say, i felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome the rest of my visit. with the economy being what it is, you should be treating your customers with respect and gratitude. but this also seems like a place where they cater to locals, friends, family, etc. if you aren't part of their circle, i guess you don't matter. will not be returning.
