was joe's farm grill wildly popular before it was featured on a diners, drive-ins, and dives or did the exposure up the long lines to crazy long?  i can't say as i became aware of joe's farm grill only because i was in search of great burgers in phoenix and thus a visit was mandatory.

always a favorite. we always go to joe's when we're in gilbert. the fontina burger is like no other. and the fried zucchini with marinara is heavenly. and i cannot forget the strawberry milkshakes.... so yummy.

overpriced, gimmicky. i had a burger and was quickly underwhelmed by the taste. it was just an average burger (a little bland) and the price was a bit much for what it was. it was strange eating there, because with so many people, i didn't feel like i was at a rural picnic, i felt i was in the greenbelt of someone's subdivision.

where are everyone's tastebuds. okay....so it was on the food network, but that doesn't make it good. we drove quite a ways to try it and the food wasn't anything to bring us back. let's start with the good: the chocolate malt and the onion rings were the bomb.....hmmm, not a good start.
we had the ahi tuna sandwich and the bbq sampler along with some garlic fries and onion rings. the ahi was fairly good quality....but it was overcooked with not enough seasoning. the ribs were super tough and all i had to cut them with was a plastic knife.....i went through 3 of them. the pulled pork was completely overcooked and mushy. chicken fingers for adults?.....shameful. garlic fries?......they should have probably cooked the garlic to bring out the sweetness....you don't put raw garlic on anything.... shameful again.
atmosphere: felt like i was eating in a bathroom. the style was eclectic at best and not pulled together well. you have to go outside to get your drinks and condiments which is next to the restroom. its a really funky place. it was very dirty when we went as well....wasn't hat busy (should have been a sign).
will it survive....probably.... because there is not a lot of other food out that way.....but should it? yikes....there really is not accounting for taste....there are tons of better bbq's although they serve some regular fair as well (not that special)......we don't mind spending money on food, but it better be worth it. we spent $45 for 2 people.....there are sooooo many better restaurants for the price.....sorry joe......but we won't be back and won't recommend. sometimes being on tv is a downfall.....if it was ever good in the first place.

located just west of the corner of ray and higley in gilbert, if you are in the area, joe’s farm grill is hard to miss, since it has a rather large neon sign, and is basically a large “retro-futuristic” building nestled in amongst the citrus trees at the edge of a working farm. the farm isn’t a new thing, it’s been there since the 1920s, with the johnston family being there since the 1960s. the restaurant is actually constructed around what’s left of the 1960s ranch house, although the reno

everyone who is upset that the line is long just doesn't understand how this place works. they have one register open, so that the orders get out out quickly. you wait no more than 5-10 minutes for your whole order. don't like the line? go when it isn't busy. this place has a line on the weekends because it is awesome. everything is fresh. employees are constantly working, and striving to perfect great food to impress the owners. if you want to get waited on hand and foot like a star, this is not the place for you. but the generic restaurant of being "waited on", is over done. this is different, it is fun and it is like having a fancy picnic! also, the bathroom is awesome!

i don't understand why people love this place so much. we have tried it twice and nothing we ate blew our hair back at all. screaming, bratty kids everywhere and overpriced mediocre food. no thanks!

cool retro building,,,ok foods. the star of the show is beautiful building set on a beautiful farm. the food is about. 7. nothing wowed us but it was a fun afternoon. my bbq salad was a grade above fast food. the ribs and pulled pork are slathered in the house bbq. it was more like a mask instead of an accompaniment. the food is on par with chili's.
it is also a good reminder that shows featured on the food network are not always that outstanding. if you are in the area, go and enjoy but i wouldn't go out of my way to dine here.

what a cool place!. i was in mesa for a few days on business and decided to try joe's based on the diners, drive-ins, and dive's episode. at 6pm on a friday night the line was short. despite the hot temperatures we ate outside where the misters kept us cool (although unfortunately did not keep the houseflies at bay).

my ahi' tuna sandwich was amazing! i would love to go back someday soon and try some of the other amazing looking items on the menu!

food ok, nice picnic feel. joes has a nice family atmosphere, but is a little expensive to take the whole family. the burgers were ok, nothing special. i would go back to eat on a picnic tables under the trees. one word of caution is the condiment bar is pneumatic (air pressure) and when condiments get low they will blow bbq sauce, mustard or whatever on your shirt, pants or glasses.

really is cool to go more for the experience than the food. the shrimp are awesome and the garlic fries are good as well. the bbq chicken pizza is not good at all in my opinion.
