this place is celebrating its 35 year anniversary and i am pleased to say i was there for its first.
it's not the food that would draw one here as it is typical bar food but good. the inside walls of this place are a nostalgic delight ranging from plaques and picture of various sports teams, with a definite canadian flavour, to entertainment and joe kools developed nostalgia. good food and a treasure trove of nostalgia items line the walls to merit a visit for a visual delight.

went here for first time in probably 10 years. ordered a cheeseburger and fries. after eating the fries took one bite of burger and discovered no cheese on my cheeseburger. informed the waitress of the situation. she gladly took the plate and said i'll get you a new burger. 5 minutes later it arrived. same burger with one bite out on new bun. obviously microwaved which took away any juiciness there was in the burger. i informed the waitress of this and her response was "i'll get you a new one, may take a few minutes" . why would they not replace it to begin with. if their hamburger meat is that priceless that they can't replace it....well they can keep it. won't be returning ever....remember word of mouth travels fast

decent place with good food and service in reasonable price. i feel this place is good if the budget is limited. they have great variety nd food tastes good.

aweful lunch time service and bad customer service!. if you plan on going here for your lunch break you might as well forget about it, unless you have a least a couple of hours.
ordered a single piece of fish and chips and a club wrap. a half an hour goes by and the waiter comes out to tell us that they are having problems in the kitchen but they are going to have it ready as quick as possible. i ask him how long it will take because we only have a half an hour left for lunch. he tells me that they will try to be quick but there is a big party in another area. 15 minutes go by and we get up to leave. on the way out, i go up to the bar and tell the manager and another waitress that we have to go back to work and to cancel our order. the manager asks me if i was with the group sitting in one of the tables. i tell him no, it's just two of us in the booth. he then turned around and walked away not saying anything at all.
an apology would have bee nice!

poor customer service. it was 6:10 pm dec 19/13. we were told there were no tables available for 4 and it would be a 1/2 hour wait. i asked if there was room at the bar and if we could eat there. the reply from the hostess was yes. on our way to the bar (which was full) we noticed 2 separate fixed tables for 2. the hostess brought 2 more chairs as one table did not have any. as i stated, this was not a table for 4 as the tables were attached to the wall and not moveable. we sat there until 6;45 with no service. i noticed a table for 4 had been vacated so we moved there. we were told we could not sit there as it was reserved. i asked about another table for 4 which had been connected with another one to make a table for 8 where a lone man ( with a pitcher of beer and some menus...can you serve a pitcher of beer to one person?) had been sitting since we arrived. the hostess told me they had a 6 pm reservation. now it was 6:45. i asked her how long they hold a reservation and she looked dumbfounded. i then asked if i made a reservation for 5 pm and did not show up until 10 pm would my table still be available? she did not know how to respond. i asked her if i could speak to the manager and she said he was downstairs and if i wanted to speak with him i could go down. i told the manager about the freed up table and the one with the gentleman and the 1/2 hour plus wait. i asked him how long they hold a reservation and his response " what do you want me to do kick him out, i can't do that. i see this is all about you" and off he stormed leaving me standing there. wow, now i was dumbfounded. seriously, that is how you handle a customer inquiry about your reservation policy? i never suggested he kick anyone out, i wanted to know their reservation policy and thought the manager could have handled this much better. i have been in the customer service business for 40 years. needless to say, we left. wasted one hour there. proceeded to winks, got served right away and our food was ready in 15 minutes. the restaurant was full. by the way, we live within walking distance and were prepared for somewhat of a wait but not the disrespect or attitude the manager displayed. hard to complain to the management about the management on their web page when the emails go to the manager.

have eaten here many times over the years. typical pub grub style fare. great drink menu, service can be hit or miss depending on how busy it is. every inch of space is covered with something neat to look at or strike up a conversation about. worth a visit!

for years i have only ever ordered the santa fe spring rolls from joe kools. i'm sure the rest of the food is great but those spring rolls call my name !! try them they're the best !

went to joe kools for dinner the other night, it was fairly busy but the staff still managed to be reasonably quick. ordered the huge panzerotti, it was amazing, and like the name says it was huge. would recommend joe kools to a friend for sure.
