jazushi describes itself as a fusion of tradtional japanese food with a eurasian influence. all i think of when someone mentions eurasian is how breathtakingly beautiful kristin kreuk (of smallville and legend of chun-li fame) is. i know that sounds cheesy but oh my, i’d love to take her out on a date and have her ignore all my calls afterwards.

it was a long day at work for both my friend and i so we decided to treat ourselves by ticking off yet another restaurant on my forever growing to-eat list, jazushi. jazushi offers japanese cuisine with a modern twist which i love, but it was the promise of camembert tempura that intrigued me the most. the restaurant was dimly lit and unexpectedly romantic. we arrived at 6pm on a wednesday night but the front dining room was already booked out so we agreed to dine at the back even though it meant we missed out on enjoying the jazz music by the live band. the atmosphere in the back dining room was quite different to the rest of the restaurant, housing a very homely and cosy feel. a long day meant my friend was too lazy to choose and left the ordering to me, which was fine because i’m never too tired to study menus to design a delicious menu for the night. we started off with the camembert tempura ($16) with creme teriyaki sauce which

all that jazz. this is a great date place with a lovely little corner for the nightly jazz musicians to do their thing while you eat decent sushi. i would never be going here for the sushi alone. the jazz makes it comfortable and adds to the ambience. the sushi is the more western influenced kind that deals in sauces and a good bit of avocado. thats not to say it isn't good. it just isn't my thing perhaps.

very nice seafood platter. my bf normally eat a lot but the large size is enough for 2 of us. but maybe it was a bit busy, we waited for 30mins for seadfood platter, so we have to order entree because we were super hungry. and i reallu enjoy the music in the restaurant

my friend and i had dinner here last night. we both enjoyed the food. we ordered the set menu which i think was a good value for money. i would definitely come back here. although, i would suggest to perhaps turn the volume down of the music just a little bit coz it was too loud and it was hard for us to have a conversation.

still waiting for my food. i'm writing this as i head into the 90th minute waiting for my food. the kitchen echoes the melodic chaos of the jazz trio playing behind where i'm sitting. i'm very hungry.

jazushi is an unassuming japanese fusion restaurant with a twist. fusion with a twist you may ask? yep, because there's live jazz entertainment available every night! i don't know much about music but i love having music hanging in the background. we were here for a birthday dinner so the staff kindly offered us the back room where there are 3 large tables, especially for groups. it allowed us a certain degree of privacy but with the lovely jazz music still flowing through from the front. for those who know me, i love bric-a-brac, mismatched bits and pieces. this place is like a dream come true, sparsely decorated with random bits and pieces and jazz related posters, i felt just at home! takoyaki first

went there with a group of friends, got seated upstairs in a private area which looks very homey and doesn't look like a restaurant much. but oh my, the food was delicious! from entree through to dessert, every meal was spot on! service was fantastic too. highly recommended!

feed me!. the waiter had no concept of time - every time we asked where our meal was, he'd say '7 minutes'. to his credit, i think he was just passing on the chief's palm off. 50 minutes later, we got sick of waiting and walked out. this is the second time this has happen to us at this restaurant. never returning again.

jazushi tries to be creative with their dishes. but not all of their dishes are executed well. their prices are not on the cheap side either. however, i would definitely recommend ordering their hitsumabushi and cheese tempura.

lovely food and friendly service. live music (fri night) was awesome - funky but not over powering/not too loud. would return for sure.

aptly named, jazushi stands out from the milieu of sydney’s japanese restaurants in that it offers great food paired with live jazz. the prices aren’t too bad either. those elements alone would make any connoisseur of japanese food and good music to take a visit, though the food definitely warrants some serious discussion.
