good food, long lines. thesandwichesare great but frankly i like to go buy the groceries and wine. it takes too long to get a sandwich -- you need at least 45 min to get your sandwich. it's not worth it -- drive in to dc and go to taylor gourmet for the same sandwich.

bestsandwichesand pizza. yes, there's a line. do yourself a favor and just get one of the ones premade on the counter. there's also a number taking system, so get with the program and get a number when you walk in. the pizza is not only really, really good, but also if you get the large, you can eat it for dinner, breakfast and lunch the next day.

when my friend recommended that we eat lunch at a local sandwich shop called “the italian store”, i was agreeable. i’m always game for a good sandwich. what i wasn’t expecting was that this place would be so popular that we’d have a 20 minute wait.  this is what we saw when we walked in: so many people! rather than being aggravated or deterred, this only made me want the food more. if some little italian grocery in arlington is going to have over 30 people waiting forsandwichesand pizza at any given time, i want to know why.

i was happy with this place, theirsandwichesand pasta were delicious. i wasn't as thrilled with the pizza, it looked good but i have had better. stick with one of the two and you will be a happy camper.

recently ordered pizza here and was not disappointed. i had pepperoni and mushroom. the crust has a wonderful stretched dough texture. sauce is fabulous and the pizza was "juicy", just the way i like it. now that i have had pizza here, nothing else will ever compare.

since i moved to arlington, i disliked every pizza i tried until i tried the pizza here. the pepperoni is just the way i like it; stringy cheese, toppings to the edge, excellent sauce and overall juiciness. the crust is excellent. the sicilian offers a thicker deep dish crust which is light, chewy with a lifht crispness on the bottom and generous cheese and yummy tomato sauce on top.

thesandwichesare awesome! i always get the genoa. there are always line-ups here but they move fast and the food is definitely worth the wait.

tried their potato salad. i'll pass on that. bland and pricey. same with their dolmados.

i go here at least once or twice per month.

ask them to heat up your pizza if you are eating on site, otherwise throw it in the oven for extra crispiness when you get home. the subsandwichescome with your choice of soft or hard roll, and while i usually order the soft, i recently had the hard and it was far superior.

this hearty lunch option is bursting with italian meats and cheeses served on either a hard or soft roll (i recommend the latter) dressed with oil, lettuce, onions, and hot and/or sweet peppers. located in a strip mall off of lee highway in arlington, the italian store specializes in philadelphia-style italian subs as well as pizzas, fresh pasta sauces, and a variety of other italian staples. and while the outside is non-descript, the word has been out for some time that this is pretty much the only place to go in arlington forsandwichesand pizza of this quality, so expect large crowds. and true to its italian roots, expect plenty of chaos, disorganization, and long waits -- all of which the consultant in me really wants to consult with management to improve. also, there is a no doubt that the grocery selections are grossly overpriced. first tip: if you are

best pizza and almost the bestsandwichesin dc metro area! i'm not into the gourmet pizzas and would much rather have an ny style pie, and these certainly fit the bill. the italiansandwichesare excellent, bested only by taylor gourmet's shops in dc. call ahead, because the place is incredibly popular and the waits can be long, even during non-peak hours.

"my fav place to load up on wine and pasta sauce." italian restaurant with new york style, or is it the other way around? i said so because the pizzas are so excellent and i'm so deeply impressed that i thought they were pure italian-made. it effortlessly fulfills your craving for pizza, the authentic hoagie-stylesandwichesand slices of pizza make it a prime and popular takeout destination, so be prepared for long lines during lunch hours.

best sicilian pie!. the best sicilian pizza, hands down! mushroom, pepperoni, onion and hot peppers... its delicious!!!

all the pizza is great, thesandwichesare good and its a great italian market on top of that.

the only bad thing i can say is that the lids on the olive containers are leaky, so be careful.
