italian store?. some good dry goods products but not very authentic italian sandwiches/pizza. some good wine deals but no deals on dry goods here. real italian stores are in italy followed by new york followed by no where else!

good food, long lines. the sandwiches are great but frankly i like to go buy the groceries and wine. it takes too long to get a sandwich -- you need at least 45 min to get your sandwich. it's not worth it -- drive in to dc and go to taylor gourmet for the same sandwich.

best sandwiches and pizza. yes, there's a line. do yourself a favor and just get one of the ones premade on the counter. there's also a number taking system, so get with the program and get a number when you walk in. the pizza is not only really, really good, but also if you get the large, you can eat it for dinner, breakfast and lunch the next day.

some people might think of this place as a place for cheap food but for me this place was special as i came over here during exams just to take a break and really loved their cooking.

great italian hoagies. good pizza but you need to call ahead if they have what they have. the hoagie makers are awesome but the pizza counter is surly. prepared italian food sold here.

enter the italian store... i had heard mucho about this place as far back as my times as a collegiate youth...how does one make a sandwich beautiful for a glamour shot (also while trying so hard to exhibit restraint towards devouring it)? the world will never know. but check out that beauty above. it’s the capri – an italian “philadelphia-style” sub featuring proscuitto, genoa salami, provolone cheese and spiced capacola ham. boo-yeah, son!

when my friend recommended that we eat lunch at a local sandwich shop called “the italian store”, i was agreeable. i’m always game for a good sandwich. what i wasn’t expecting was that this place would be so popular that we’d have a 20 minute wait.  this is what we saw when we walked in: so many people! rather than being aggravated or deterred, this only made me want the food more. if some little italian grocery in arlington is going to have over 30 people waiting for sandwiches and pizza at any given time, i want to know why.

disgusted. i have been coming to the italian store since july 2003. i love the place. however, since returning to northern virginia in 2013, the italian store has gone downhill. two reasons. customer service is terrible. are the employees away in one big bad mood all damn day? crack a smile, laugh, maybe say "hello.". it would not hurt if the 15 year olds making my sandwich would actually look up and acknowledge the guy who is supporting their job. today, a man ordered a turkey sub at around 5pm. the kid taking the order was so obnoxious i wanted to walk out.

i would have except i was starving and their food is pretty good. that brings me to my second point. the subs in 2003 2ere twice the size what they are now. what the hell? any standards? and what gives with the nasty cashiers? why is a place that is obviously making a nice profit and not working on the margin employ such jerk-off help?

i am taking a year off to go to face and cornucopia.

get your act together and i'll come back. this is just friendly advice to a once great institution. we all lose our way in life. please turn on your gps.

pizza is something i eat when hanging out with a group of friends and the winner topping is usually pepperoni (though my favorite toppings are peppers, onions, tomatoes and basil), still this one was delicious and since pepperoni is a little salty for me and i didn’t feel like having a salad, i served a burrata, a fresh mozzarella filled with cream, so buttery and refreshing, served with a drizzle of olive oil, sea salt and fresh cracked pepper, is the best way to say good bye to the weekend.

the italian store has good ny style pizza and you can get whatever they happen to have around by the slice. the people at the pizza counter tend to not have the best people skills here, which is odd, because the people making hoagies are personable. this is a good place for the thin crust, charred bottom style of pizza, but i rarely order pizza here because there philly hoagies are amazing. even the vegetarian hoagie is great. this place does not really have seating; there are a few tables outside.
