a local garneau area fave. small location that you can't blink or you will miss driving down 109st. bulgogi poutine fries...surprisingly delicious. thesweetand salty combination is a great taste that was quite unexpected. fried chicken was also decent....but on the high side compared to other fried chicken places. blasting k-pop music on the speakers and tv was also interesting....

popped in here for a quick bite. this place is all about chicken and dogs. i was in the mood for chicken and was having a hard time choosing because everything on the menu sounded delicious, so i told the gentleman who was taking my order to surprise me. he said the soy garlic chicken was really popular, so sgc it was! and man it was good! i love fried chicken, i mean who doesn't!?!. but i am often disappointed when i order it - this chicken however was cooked to perfection! juicy inside and the batter was crispy and seasoned nicely - the perfect amount ofsweetand salty. only complaint i have is the fries i was served appeared to be mccain crinkle fries.. which is a huge letdown at any restaurant, in my opinion. homemade fries are super easy to make so there's just no excuse for anything else. but when i look at the photos others have posted on here, the fries in those pics look totally different and appear homemade at that.. so perhaps they were just ran out of potatoes that day? here's hoping because then they would have scored a 5/5 from me.

my boyfriend and i were roaming whyte avenue trying to look for seoul fried chicken (we were both craving korean fried chicken), only to find out they were sold out of chicken and wouldn’t have anymore until 5:30. he had class at 6:00, so we settled on it dog just off of whyte avenue.

it dog is a “order at the counter and pick it up yourself” kinda place. it’s decorated with comic book posters and blasts kpop music all through out the restaurant. i settled on the “meal” ($9) which included 2 pieces of chicken, your choice of sauce, and fries or salad. their choices of salad were: coleslaw, macaroni and pickled radish. i chose macaroni and i was really craving rice (filipino problems), so i got a a side of rice for $2. i tried spicy mustard for my chicken, and paulo gotsweetspicy. the chicken was perfectly fried, and smothered in our choses sauces. the macaroni salad i ordered lacked flavour, although the rice was surprisingly good as it was more on the sticky side.

perfect casual spot to grab a beer and eat korean fried chicken. they also have “dressed up” hotdogs for $8 such as butter chicken dog and kimchi dog. they also have poutine which i am excited to try next time!

excellent. ate here for the first time today. had the hardcore dog, which was very good. an interesting take on hotdogs, they combine korean with hotdogs. not sure if thats actually a korean thing or just a north american thing. the fried chicken was amazing too, i had thesweetand spicy.

i will definitely come back and try something different. i think some of the negative reviews are from people who don't understand the restaurant's concept. the food presentation is good and the food itself is high quality.

'dog with a backbone :). i have a love-hate relationship with hot dogs. sure, they are ubiquitous and generally tasty, but somehow i never manage to finish one without the cheap white bun disintegrating into messy gloop!
it dog, a newish korean-style hot dog joint is a pleasant change. their hot dogs (7-9 bucks each and pretty filling) come on mildlysweetpretzel buns with the right degree of chewiness (is that a word?) and remains intact till the last bite. this by itself would have hurled them to the top of hot dog standings, but having a range of spicy unique (at least for edmonton) toppings doesn't hurt either.
the young people who run this place appear to be slightly clueless but still manage to be friendly and fast.
good choice for decent 'dog and some different flavours!

the asian fusion hot dog craze has just hit edmonton! occupying the space which had previously belonged to badass jack's, the short walk from university campus to it' dog definitely makes this fast food joint a hit among uni students. the menu is prettysweetand straightforward. you have 11 hotdogs, 4 deep fried chicken choices to choose from and if you're feeling a bit more adventurous, you can order a bulgogi poutine or even kimchi pork poutine. with the lack of korean fried chicken in my life during these past 5 months in edmonton, you can imagine how i often i find myself craving for its greasy, oily, ultra-crunchy and salty goodness. we started off with two pieces of fried chicken each. fried chicken ($6.00): nope you're seeing right. that's three pieces. can you imagine the look of delight on our faces when we were all given three pieces instead of just two? how glorious and hypnotising does that chicken look? one bite into this perfect golden egg-shell like thin crust on the skin revealed an extremely tender and moist chicken, which was also really well seasoned.sweetmustard chicken ($7.00) even, with thesweetmustard sauce, the skin just crackled and crunched with every bite. it was amazing.sweet& spicy fried chicken ($7.00): this version comes drenched in a stickysweetand chilli sauce which was perfect in that it was

hardcore dog was exactly that.. i chose it' dog the other night as i was curious if edmonton had a gourmet hot dog joint. after a visit to urban spoon i found just what i was looking for. upon entering the restaurant, the assembly line of employees were inviting and quick to take my order. after a short 3 minute wait my hardcore dog was ready to satisfy my stomach and it did just that. the toppings were spread evenly garnished with 2 spicy red chili peppers and a few jalapenos. the ground beef and sriracha sauce were flavourful and it all fit in nicely inside the soft pretzel bun, which is in fact almost the best part of the dog. the reason i say this is most loaded dogs fall apart and get soggy but with a sturdy bun, it all stays in place delivering flavour each bite.
i was a bit unsure how filling the hot dog would be so i opted out on fried chicken. i guess it all depends how hungry you are but the hot dog wasn't very filling after all so i figure i would try thesweetand spicy fried chicken. a little pricey for two pieces of fried chicken especially when you could get a full roasted chicken at sobey's for the same price. it wasn't overly greasy but it's fried chicken, you should expect a bit of grease. the best part of the chicken was the crunch followed by thesweetpart of the sauce - the spicy could have used a bit more kick.

i'll definitely be back to try all the other hot dogs.

delish dogs and chicken. after reading the reviews and after walking by this place several times over the past week or so, i popped in to see what it's all about. i ordered the hardcore dog and 5 pieces of thesweetand spicy chicken. overall, both were incredibly tasty.

now, the details . . .

i finished the hardcore dog in no time simply because i was hungry. the dog is a juicy and satisfying hot beef weiner and the bun, as many reviewers have stated, is much denser tha a more traditional hot dog bun and it is sweeter (similar to the buns you'd find at a chinese supermarket such as t&t) but not nearly assweetlike a donut as some reviewers have led me to believe. i like how the densesweetbun contrasts with the savoury salty weiner and toppings. even though the toppings included red thai peppers and sliced jalapenos, i didn't feel any heat but, then again, i'm immune to heat simply because i eat a lot of hot spicy foods. overall, it was delicious and filling.

thesweetand spicy chicken is moresweetthan spicy and i have to profess i would have preferred much more spice (i love heat). the batter is incredibly crispy and holds up quite well despite being doused in all that sauce. at first, i was debating whether to order 10 pieces since i was quite hungry but, after devouring my meal, i was glad i had ordered only five pieces. they were filling, piping hot, fresh, moist, crispy, and flavourful and there was lots of sauce at the bottom of the wax paper-lined tray for smearing onto the chicken.

the interior of the diner has seating for probably no more than about 24 or 26 people at most. i didn't walk in last week because when i glanced into the window i saw all seats were taken and i hate dining inside any place that's filled to maximum capacity (chalk it up to claustrophobia, i guess).

it' dog accepts debit, cash, visa, and m/c but not american express.

not sure if i'll come back for a hot dog but chicken? yes yes and yes!. i liked my deep fried chicken a lot... it was $12 or $13 for 5 pieces and you can't mix and match like coco's (i.e. get 5 or 10, but half with sauce, half not). so in that sense i feel ripped off to pay $12 for 5 plains and $13 for 5sweetand spicy... but can't pay the discount price of $21 for 10 pieces and have half half... see the scheme here? not cool but well played, sirs.

another thing - you think there's no option for tap water but it does exist so don't pay for that $2.50 pop if you want to save yourself from diabetes or save some money or tummy to fill in more food.

i found the plain crispy chicken to be very fresh and crispy. the fat was yellow and i'm not chicken expert but could that be an organic or farm raised thing? like free range or free run chicken or fed with corn? not sure, but i think that was worth noting. i like how i ordered 5 pcs but 6 - 7 pieces came - let me explain - they cut up a big thigh into two pieces so you can share and have more batter on each piece. it's a nice touch and i welcome that. i felt like i got more and i can share better. cool.

i am dying to try their soy garlic chicken next time because that's not offered in wing chicx (gross) or coco's (you have a new challenger... fight!)

great concept poor execution. just came home from it dog. we tried the bulgogi dog, fries, regular andsweetand spicy chicken, macaroni salad. first, the dog. chewy, very thick pretzel bun. sausage: rubbery texture and tasted microwaved. good toppings though. chicken: interesting panko style coating, my friend called the chicken"ok". i liked the red sauce but it did remind me of a bottled chinese red sauce for short ribs. fries: frozen nothing special. macaroni salad: just plain awful. too much mayo and 1 flavour predominating. verdict: i guess if you are really craving a hot dog and you are in the area, fine, but there are really excellent food places close by that can beat them at this game. suggestions: offer a softer bun, don't pre cook the dogs, maybe work on getting fresh cut fries. you can do better guys!!!!

not that great dog. we tried the hardcore dog, and the mac and cheese dog. both were decent, but nothing we would come back for. the buns had asweettaste to them and were not toasted, the hot dog itself was warm - we wished they were hot. the mac and cheese tasted like plastic. we did appreciate the spice and tang with the hardcore dog - we also felt like the dogs were over priced - i think i'll stick to costco dogs....
