sorry, i don't get it.. lots of positive reviews for this place, and i can't for the life of me figure out why. the gold standard for caribbean food for me is a place called eats in atlanta. i can only say they aren't losing any sleep over places like this.
went in on a friday between 6 and 7. not only was nothing ready, there was a guy there who had been waiting for close to an hour. they don't take your order and give you a number or anything. they just tell you it's not ready and then you kind of hang around while other people who want something they do have get waited on. extremely loose and disorganized, like they never worked in a restaurant before.
finally got the food. i got a large jerk chicken plate and my wife got a small. get the small - there's virtually no difference for the extra money. there's the option of regular or yellow rice, which they don't tell you about when you order. and the option of gravy (or grease, rather) on the rice. oh, and white meat or dark meat although i asked for a mix and could not find any dark in there at all.
quality-wise, whoever said this is hot/spicy must have really sensitive taste buds. one to ten scale, i'd say 3. and that's generous. again, portions were miniscule, but could be due to the fact that it took so long that they were afraid of running out again. my wife's portion was pink inside, so for all that time it still wasn't cooked all the way through.
i'd also note that the way it's chopped up you would probably be well advised to take someone along who knows the heimlich maneuver since the chance of swallowing a bone is pretty high.
i can't say it's the worst meal i ever had. i've had some really bad ones. but i can't see any reason to ever gobackto this place. i mean, you could go to kroger and get an whole chicken for less than what they charge for this, and while it wouldn't be fantastic, the quality and value would still beat this by a long shot. i'd have rather gone to chipotle.
thumbs down, big time.
