i had lunch here (16 january 2021) with two friends. it was my firsttimehere but my friends had dined here a few times before.

we had about a 20-minute wait, so we ordered a round of drinks and walked around the outside dining area. it was too cold to sit outside but i would like to go back when the weather is warm to enjoy the little thai village that they created. great atmosphere, decorated with buddha’s, sculptures, various seating areas in huts, a tiki bar, and little gardens. even the ladies restroom is decorated colorfully.

while their website mentions “…outdoor and limited indoor seating only,” every table inside was filled, so i didn’t think it was as ‘covid appropriate’ as compared to other restaurants i’ve been to. however, all of the staff wore masks and gloves, and everyone wore their masks coming into/out of the restaurant, so i didn’t feel uncomfortable.

it was quite the busy place and i can understand why. the food was marvelous! as we were here on a saturday, we had to order off the dinner menu. we shared the cha gio, vietnamese rolls filled with ground chicken, noodles and vegetables that came with a sweet dipping sauce and lettuce to wrap the rolls. the rolls were deep-fried and very tasty.

i had the happy asian melody, which had chicken, shrimp, beef, and scallops in a dark soy sauce, along with plenty of vegetables; and rice. my friends ordered the shrimp and scallops in a nest; and the scallops with ginger. both also had plenty of vegetables. our meals came with a small thai cabbage salad.

i was impressed with the portions of the entrees, in which i had leftovers for another meal.

tam was our waitress. as this is a popular place and filled, service was on the slow side. not a big deal, as we were enjoying our food and conversation.

i can’t wait to go back and try other items on their menu and dining outside.

disappointed. i went to indochine in the past and looked forward to taking friends there this past sunday. i am disabled and requested a booth with padded seating. upon arrival we noticed the ac was not on - 1st bad sign.. the host sized us up (literally) and put us in the smallest booth in the place. everyone in our party was thin and we still had a hardtimefitting in. of course we noticed and commented on unoccupied larger padded seating. the patrons in there were sweating and fanning. fortunately we had a great waitress and when i complained she figured out that the manager/host forgot to turn the 10 wall units on???the food was not as good as it was during my last visit. . i could tell the meat and vegetables were of good quality but so over spiced it ruined the dish. the appetizers were cold - egg rolls. our dinners were similar and no special request were made to alter any dish. our dinners varied from barely warm to cold. the restaurant was filthy. we both had to take our slacks to the cleaners because the seats had not been cleaned. (we went at 6pm so no one else sat there before us.)it also had one small bathroom (one toilet in ladies room) for a large restaurant. i do not know what the change is - maybe new management or chef. what a disappointment. the only good thing was that we had a wonderful waitress. she was first class - nice - hard working and polite. she should work in a nicer place. she had way too much class to work in such a slack place.

favorite! i'd like to live here. we just live too far away. whenever there is an excuse to eat in wilmington the indochine is our first choice. we have been repeat customers for four years. we each have our menu favorites and they are different. we have never had a bad meal, nor even a bad dish within the meal. the wait staff has always evidenced knowledge of the food they serve and has given excellent advice, and attentive service without being intrusive. indochine had been on our "want to try" list for sometimebut that part of market street wasn't in our travel pattern. our son, a certified executive chef who no longer works in the food industry, took us there for a birthday celebration. we have been going back ever since. as seniors, we find that a soup and shared appetizer is a perfect lunch.

the flavors are very good. but i cannot get past the lack of cleanliness. the menus and tables are sticky and floors are rarely clean. i'm not coming back until i hear things have improved.

i want to love indochine. we've lived in wilmington for nine years, and have eaten at indochine a number of times. the decor is amazing, the staff are nice, the menu is enormous and lavish, the drinks come in fun glasses...and the food is barely mediocre. the curries are heavy and huge and the vegetables rarely seem fresh. the tofu is terrible. most things that are fried in oil seem a little bit rancid. i don't eat the beef or the shellfish, and i know people love to come here and gorge on that, but i do know three people (three different occasions) who believe they have gotten sick from the fish here. i've been to a lot of good asian restaurants, particularly in new york and boston, and i really wish wilmington could borrow some ideas. for one: portion size. i guess people do get excited about heaping piles of food, but i'd rather have some manageable, tasty, thoughtfully put together food, and more food that's fresh. their dumplings were particularly awful the lasttimei went: soggy, with something mysterious and stringy inside. i know that the parking lot will always be packed, and it is a fun place to go. i just wish i wasn't so consistently disappointed by the food.

great place/great service. our family just recently moved to wilmington. everyone kept telling my husband and i that we must try indochine. we heard from everyone that it is the best place around, and last night we finally got the chance to check it out. we took our kids in, and everyone had a great experience! the food was amazing and our server patrick was great as well. being our firsttimein, he took thetimeto go over the menu with us, and offer suggestions, that all turned out to be very tasty. our picky eating kids even liked all the food too. my husband and i will be back soon for a date. great place with friendly people.

what people need to know about indochine is that their food is not fresh. when ever they have leftovers they keep em till its spoiled. so yes, if youre a regular chances are you ate yesterday's food not the food that is cook on that same day you come in. i went in there onetimeto order the stir fry basil and the veg and ck just didnt taste right and the way it looked. i also had a friend who use to wrk there and told me they put the left over back in the walkin cooler. for ex. stir fry dish they make is made in a large pot with all meat and veg cook and whatevers left they put it in the frig and use it again the next day. really? thats why the food comes out so fast cus they already cooked it! i rather waiyan hour to have a real and fresh thai dish. the rest are idiots to pay that much money just for the look of the place.

great!. i decided to try indochine for the firsttimelast night, despite the negative reviews some users had posted. yes, i did have to wait 15 minutes even on a thursday. however, the food was incredible. i ordered the appetizer cha gio and the yellow curry. i couldn't have been more pleased with my meal. even my picky husband found a dish he enjoyed, and he very rarely eats anything other than steak and potatoes! i was a waitress in college so i sympathize with the servers and the place was crazy busy, but i had excellent service, though i saw several posts about how rude the servers are. i can't help but wonder if these angry customers are just impossible to make happy. while i was waiting for a table i even heard a guest ask the hostess to be seated in an outdoor hut. it was raining very hard outside and when the hostess said the outside huts were closed due to rain, the woman became angry with the staff and asked to speak to the manager. as a former server it enraged me that people can be so inconsiderate of the staff and expect them to get soaking wet in order to serve them food. aside from a small wait, everything was perfect. and even better, the entress ( a little pricey) are enough food for your evening dinner and large enough to take home for lunch the next day!!! definitely try the cha gio and curry! oh and the mixed drinks are incredibe!

the best..hands down. some of you people must me eating at a different place. yes the wait can be long on weekends...want to guess why?? because it is by far the best food in town.

anytime we have out of town guests they all want to go to indochine, it is almost like a drug. i don't know of one person who does not like the quality of food. some people are confused by the menu the firsttimeor so, but the staff will be happy to guide you.
the staff is great, and most have been there for a long time. the owner, is always there, which is not true for many restaurants. i am shocked at some of the reviews this fine place has gotten. if you have not been to indo, i highly recommend, and if you think i have a slanted view, then once again i would ask...why do you think they have the longest wait in wilmington for a table? take one guess.

thanks nikki!!!!
