there are fiveperuvianrestaurants in the north suburbs and inca's cafe is my favorite although its the furthest away from home. we were in carrollton on business and stopped off for a late lunch.
we started with aperuvianbeer (a very nice lager) and the native purple corn juice, whose name i forget, but is a favorite of my wife.
my wife had a very nice roasted chicken, and i had my usual lomito pollo saltado, a nice of grilled chicken with tomatoes, onions, peppers, served over french fries with rice. add in two very good hot sauces on the side and this is an excellent meal.
then we splurged for desert and had a combination of rice pudding and mazamorra morada (purple corn pudding). i thought it good but my wife loved it and finished every bite.
if this wasn't 30 minutes away i would be here many times a month!

not cheap, but very creative. on the latin scale, peruvianfood would best be described as a middle-of-the-road fusion, in my opinion. what it lacks in overt originality, inca's certainly makes up for it with subtle creativity.

a national favorite purple corn, fruit and cinnamon drink was delicious and was the perfect culinary prelude. artistry displayed in preparation, sauces and dressings is what will make you want to come back. my favorite was the yellow pepper cream with a hint of cheese adorning a soft, warm potato for the appetizer. it had a pleasant spice profile that lingered for the perfect amount of time. ceviche was reported as quality and respectably citrused. cilantro rice for my main was simple, but well-executed. first time in a long time i have had fried plantains that were perfect and not fried into a puddle of ooze. same goes for the soft yucca. black bean side was generous and paired well with a homemade pair of hot sauces. salad dressing was a delightful mixture of oil and acidity. i was too full from dinner, but the bites of the desserts i had from my husband and best friend were also great. the tres leches was the best i have had (ignoring the cool whip). the only thing that was not up to expectations was the overdone carne asada.

inca's is not inexpensive, but it is true small business run by a chef that cares deeply about quality cuisine. definitely worth the visit.

lovely atmosphere & food. i have never hadperuviancuisine before. i was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed my food. the atmosphere does have a latin america feel; however, i am not sure i would have tagged it as inca orperuvianwithout the name out front. the main colors are reds and blacks with green and gold accents. it's pleasing.

i ordered a traditional dish called aji de gallina (spicy creamed chicken). it's wonderful. the aji has pepper ground into the rich white creamy sauce. the chicken is pulled into shreds, mixed into the sauce, and then poured over a bed of sliced golden potatoes. the texture of the potato slices with the tender chicken and spiced creamy is awesome. love it. the surprise on the plate was criolla salad. it looked like julienned red onions on my plate until i took a bite. the unexpected tang of wine vinegar and a spice i could not place was great. while i expected to only take one bite for the experience, i ended up eating every bite on my plate.

there was a small dish of green sauce off to the side. it looked like green goddess salad dressing, but had a tiny sugar spoon in it. i asked the server what it was. she saidperuvianspices with aji pepper ground into the sauce. it’s spicy and very good. i laid several dollops on my white rice. for dessert, i ordered mazamorra morada (purple corn jelly pudding) and alfajores to go. the mazamorra morada looks and tastes something like blueberry/raspberry pie filling. it was good. the alfajores is a cookie. it’s two shortbread cookies with white powder on the outside and dulce de leche in the middle. it was okay.

great food and wonderful experience.

felt abused. i have always take my family and guests to this, my home country restaurant, but this last time i went for lunch with my wife and two sons ordered from the regular menu and even ordered a whole roasted chicken to take home, when we got our bill from this very friendly and professional new waiter, we find out he had added 20% gratuity to our entire check even on the to go order, we have always been generous tippers and understand a large party rules but this was abusive, needless to say we have since found a newperuvianrestaurant.

i wanted to try a pisco sour. i ended up at incas a few weeks ago because of their tuesday salsa night and i wanted to try aperuvianpisco sour (i'm from chile, so we have kind of a rivarly, haha).

the pisco sour was awesome- frothy, sweet, tangy and with a tiny amount of cinnamon (i think it was cinnamon) powder dusted on top. i danced, drank and wanted to come back to try the food. the lunch special i had was a beef stew-like dish with rice, salad and soup... i paid $7 for my meal + tip. it was awesome!!!
i'll be back :)

first tme eating peruvian. this was my first experience eatingperuvianso i don't have much to compare it to but i have to say i was pretty impressed with what i got here. i started out with an appetizer, anticucho de corazon. i never eaten heart before so it was two firsts for me. i really did enjoy this though. it was well cooked and seasoned very nicely. i would suggest trying it if you feel up to eating heart. the steamed yucca it comes with was nice as well. my main dish was the carne asada. i didn't really get anything too off the beaten path but i liked it. the meat was cooked perfect and the plantains were really good. a friend got the chicha morada, which is a surprisingly tasteful juice drink. i definitely recommend this place for anyone looking to expand their cultural food experiences.

pretty good. i go there on regular basis, lunch is really cheap, the soups are always really good, they use to serve chips with their green signature sauce but they don't anymore :(
i love the cabrito but sometimes there is more bones than meat and it's either really tender or really tough but it's my favoriteperuvianin dfw.

wow, yum, double wow yum. i have no words to describe the pleasure i find when eating at inca's cafe. i'm soooooo glad i found this place and will certainly recommend it time after time. the service was great, but the food was just a complete different out of this universe story.

i mean, i love food, but never in my life have i enjoyed a ceviche and just some plain white rice to be sooooooo good. the pisco sour and desserts took me by surprise too as i thought i'd be like something i've had before, but i was wrong, yes...wrong!

top foods to try there

ceviche of any kind
cabrito
seafood of any kind
tres leches cake
inca sampler
lomito saltado

keep up the good work and hope this little place gets the word out to grow to be a well known place because it is worthy of any high cuisine authenticperuvianfood recognition. yumm, i'm hungry again.

excellente food and service and affordable!!!!. on the contrary to the comment below me, i was highly referred to this restaurant by friends that enjoy good food among them some americans and peruvians. i visited several places before going to inca's cafe and in fact inca's cafe is the best latin restaurant i've been to since i moved to dallas from miami. it is aperuvianrestaurant with great environment, the service was top of the line, the drinks were all fresh and deliscious. before heading to inca's cafe i visited their website and it fact it said about the independence day celebration taking place later in the evening, so we made reservations to get there earlier right before dinner.
my recommendations are:
any ceviche or seafood dish
jalea, lomito saltado, incal sampler and plato del caribe...
i also tried their "cabrito" which won a best of dallas award so, hmmm, that's got to be good if the food critics says is the best, the were darn right lol

as far as the pisco sour goes, they sell those suckers like crazy, so i'm not so sure they're as bad as they say since i'm not too familiar with them, but the fact is i see one in almost every table when i go there which is reguarly at lest twice a week for lunch since it's soo cheap and good food.

i'd recommend this to anyone who wants to be adventurous and give this place a shot. you won't regret it. don't take my word or anyone else's. just go and have a good meal and you'll feel glad you gave it a shot.

oh try their caramel cookies or "alphajores" as they call it. they are so good. they kind of melt in your mouth and want you wanting more, so watch out. lol

bad food, poorly managed. the ambiance is pleasant enough but the food was a disappointment. the pisco sour is made with cheap pisco and too much lime juice, the inca cola is watered down. the ceviche mixto is substandard with a barely marinated fish and nothing else in the mix (as there should be based on the name of the dish). the yuccas are bland. the seco de cabrito consisted of mostly bones. i think that the owner is trying to squeeze a big profit from little quality. i tried again to give it another chance but it turned out to be aperuviancelebration evening and the owner was charging an admission price at the door. she insisted that a family pay even for their two year old in tow, who was not going to eat or take up a seat. actions like these on the part of restaurant owners give me a bad feeling. will not be going back. if you do not want to have a bad experience or questionable food, you should not either.

wow, bestperuvianfood in tx. i've been throughout the entire state of tx and have tried many restaurants, some good, some not so good and none of the ones i thought that were good can compete against the falvors and freshness of inca's cafe. so, if you're in the dallas area and want to try great authentic food from peru, you have to try this place. the must have on the menu would be: ceviche, lomito, jalea and the inca sampler, and don't forget to try their "green sauce" dip...ohhhh and if you like music, go there on friday nights for dinner, it gets loud so be ready to experience the culture through their music and food.
