a must try. the hub is a portland favorite. the tasty variety of organic brews, eco-and-stomach-friendly menu and wonderful service make this place tough to top. the kid play area even makes itfamilyfriendly. i recommend to anyone who likes to eat and/or drink.

love hub. the wait for hub to open was a long and torturous, but we were certainly rewarded for our patience! let me start with the beer... mmmmm, please. perfect portland ales, and the crosstown pale is my easy-drinkin' staple. served a keg of it at a party i had and it was drained *way too* quickly!!
the ambience and size of the dining areas are great- very kid friendly but not so much so that the non parents are bothered. the play-dough is the best idea ever.
now for the food, i really love the ale pretzels with mustard, but they fill me up so i spoil my dinner, which is something i don't want to do! the salads are hearty enough to be a meal, and tasty combos keep them interesting, but the burger is truly sublime. someone knows how to do their beef right! and i am not afraid to order medium-rare, either! the pizza is very good, though i reserve my pizza jones for apizza scholls (see other review). all members of myfamilygive it a thumbs-up!

i wanted to love this place. the food was great. the portions were much larger than a lot of the ones you around portland. the beer selection was good, and the atmosphere was fun and funky. however after waiting 45 minutes for a to-go box and the check, i just can't say too much nice about them. our server was around, but he was definitely playing favorites. he checked on his friends 3 times and the bigfamilytwice, before he thought to ask us if we needed a box. then he disappeared for another 15 minutes before returning without a box and asking again.

don't sit in the lounge. they say it's full service, but it most certainly isn't.

beer, burgers, kids. on a sunday at 5 in the evening, this place was busy as it has been every time we've stopped by for beer and food. the restaurant side is veryfamilyfriendly so expect there to be lots of kids. service was friendly and helpful, no complaints there. after picking out beers and ordering we looked over the menu. i choose a house salad for $5 and added chicken for another $3. it was just the right size for a light appetite but the chicken might have been a little more amble for the money. the other two meals were burgers and fried and they were great with a surprise of pineapple on the spicy one. we had homemade chocolate chip cookies each for dessert because that was the only thing that didn't come with ice cream and they were just a little warm and nice. when our bill came, we were a little surprised again that the goblet of "imperial" beer was $7.50 while the ales were $3.75 each and they were 16 ozs. i don't mind paying elsewhere, as much as $4.50 for a pint of good microbrew, but i tasted the imperial and it wasn't worth the price. pay attention to the big board in the bar side for prices of their special beers.

great atmosphere - boring food. hopworks urban brewery has a lot going for it. the interior is interesting with lots of exposed beams and metal and wood nooks. there is a large parking lot and two floors of tables to accommodate guests. there are two children's areas with lots of toys to entertain the younger set. there are a variety of home brewed beers to choose from including a stout i particularly enjoyed. it isfamilyfriendly, but also a good space to hang out with your pals and drink. the food though does not live up to everything else. they have pizzas, sandwiches, and salads. the soft pretzel appetizer was good, though not much to it. the wings are served on fries, but neither stands out as particularly appealing. the pear and blue-cheese salad was tasty. in general there's nothing wrong with any of the entrees or appetizers, they just don't live up to everything else. go to hub for a beer or have a fun time hanging out with friends or family, just don't expect your taste-buds to be delighted.
