had brunch there today, & we were all disappointed!servicewas slow & food was not up to par. eggs benedict were over cooked & the yolks were hard. the quiche was very dry & we didn't care for the taste of the sausage. our server never came back to see if we were alright until she picked up our plates. she saw i had hardly touched my food & i told her everything was over cooked. she gave me the bill then said the manager would be right out to talk to me. the manager never came over. we paid the full bill, but won't be back!

new favorite. i had luch at hook for the first time today. i tried the pullen and pork poboy, it was great. this poboy is loaded with chicken and bacon and several different cheeses. it's like a meaty grilled cheese on steroids!!!! i highly recommend trying this. the waitresses were very attentive, servicewas quick and one of the owners even stopped by our table to check on us. extremely great place to do lunch and i am looking forward to trying their dinner menu.

good food, although its a bit pricey.servicewas not the fastest but still good and friendly. i was looking forward to one sandwich i had seen on the online menu but did not realize that you could not order that for dinner. i think that made the experience pretty disappointing since i had my mind made up already. i will have to try again for lunch next time.

disappointed. i have heard good things about this place and just had to go and try it...what a disappointment!! the menu is sparse to say the least, serviceis slow at best and untrained. i am used to enjoying the food at the many little restaurant's on davis ave, too bad this isn't one of the caliber i am used to. oh and i cannot forget to say that there is hardly any seafood in the place...gulf coast cuisine???

hook is a good place to eat if you're in pass christian.  decent sized menu and a good location in the middle of the cute downtown area of the pass. serviceis kind of hit or miss though.  food quality is very good.  best fish tacos i've ever had.  in fact, when i go there i actually look forward to ordering something "without meat" on fridays :)  beer selection could use an upgrade.  overall we usually enjoy going to hook and the food is always good, if not a bit pricey.

good place for cautious eaters. no surprises, nothing out of the ordinary.

love the place. we have been to hooks numerous times for lunch and dinner. we have enjoyed each visit and meal. i think their version of oysters rockefeller is unique and one the best oyster appetizers i have ever had. it is great casual dining in a great atmsophere. glad to see downtown pc alive again.

just gets better and better!!. every visit to hook is a real treat! this is one restaurant that has thoroughly shaken off opening night jitters and has settled into serving some of the best and freshest food on the coast. the fish is always superb and the pasta light and flavorful. there's not a bad dish in the place!
a great and much needed addition to pass christian and to coast dining.

time heals all wounds. this week i had my second and third meals at hook, after the first and fairly disasterous dinner the 2nd week they opened. every establishment deserves a second chance, and i'm happy to say hook is on the way up. my two lunches there this week were both very very good...one a chili rubbed burger, nicely seasoned and well presented, and the second a very tasty club sandwich.
theservicehas also improved markedly, being both very friendly and efficient.
keep up the good work, hook?

one or two hits and a ballbag full of misses!. gosh, what a disappointment on my first visit to hook!! the restaurant got the decor and feel very right....casual and relaxed without being too chummy, and the building is a real asset to the street. but in the food department, the chef and manager are either completely disinterested in quality or clueless in the operation of a good eating establishment.
having been forewarned by another patron, i nevertheless ordered the pork brisket. i can't remember when i have had a tougher cut of pork or one that had so little flavor and seasoning. even salt and pepper could not raise that piglet from the grave!
our waitress was very nice , but obviously had been given no training in proper serving of patrons. dishes remained uncollected on the table, a glass of wine sitting on the bar for 15 minutes was never delivered, no recommendations were made....and the list goes on.
every establishment deserves a second chance, and i will try one more time. but i fear unless massive change is in the wind, hook will disappear as quickly as "the one that got away".

pleasant experience. stopped for lunch, on an early saturday afternoon. just a few diners. we had the officers club sandwich and the bbq shrimp poboy - both outstanding. the club had a genrous amount of tasty turkey and the bacon was cooked perfectly - crispy, but not crunchy. the cheddar cheese was not overpowering and nicely complemented the other parts. the shrimp poboy had a light dressing of bbq, that complimented and did not overpower the delicateness of the shrimp. the poboy was accompanied by a rather modest portion of undistinguished shoestring fries. the decor is nice, the atmosphere was comfortable and the background music was at an enjoyable level.
theservicewas prompt, but inaccurate and passive. i ordered the crunchy slaw as a side, but got the fruitcup. the server while not unfriendly was passive and did not show initiative in keeping our drinks renewed. however, those were minor flaws and we look forward to returning for dinner.

great food and atmosphere!!!!. took my husband; who by the way is very particular; and met another couple.....we had the stuffed shrimp and the trout with crawfish and shrimp cream.....omg!! the food was great....i would have licked the plate if it was acceptable to do....the appetizers were excellant...oysters, fried green tomatoes, and shrimp cocktail...delice. the key lime pie for dessert was wonderful...my husband had the eclair and he would not share....that speaks volumes. we had a great bottle of wine and theservicestaff was very efficient. go visit, beautiful place and friendly folks... we live in gulfport and definitly will be back.
