my 4th and last attempt. i have been toholygrale 3 times before and had unpleasant experiences. my friend was in from out of town last night and her father suggested we grab some food there. they both seemed pretty excited to try it and i didn't want to be picky so i agreed to go.
it was the same old crap from every other time. extremely rude staff- at this point i think being a miserable asshole is a prerequisite for any position there.
even though they have a vast selection of beer, they never have anything that sounds any good to me. all i want most of the time is a dark, malty stout. the one beer that sounded the slightest bit appealing was unavailable. i ended up drinking this awful sour beer upon the suggestion of the angry waiter- he said it was the next closest beer to being "stout like."
i think that was the most disgusting beer i have ever had and have no clue why anyone would suggest that to someone looking for a stout.
of course they ran out of the components to make the one food menu item i ordered as well, but i have to say the food ended being delicious anyhow.
i wish this food could be served in a different establishment.
unfortunately the only time i will ever get to eat food from theholygrale is if someone brings it home because i am never stepping foot in that place again.

best burger in town....pretentious service. i have been to theholygrale 3 times over the past 8 weeks and have have enjoyed all 3 experiences. theholygrale has 3 areas for seating: inside bar area, upstairs loft, and outside beer garden. i have chosen to sit outside on each visit because of the weather and the fact that the inside is a bit dark and close. you order your food and beer at the bar, no server will meet you outside. you will take your beer outside and a server will deliver your food to you. you can swipe your credit card at the bar and simply add to it as you order beer. kind of an odd setup on how to get a drink or food, but once you figure it out, it works. i have ordered the burger with frites. my wife has always ordered the pork tacos with frites. the burger is simply fantastic. probably the best burger in town. it is a must try if you go to theholygrale. serving size is about right for this place. the beer speaks for itself. new arrivals and quality product will keep theholygrale going for a long time. the food is very good and the beer is exceptional. the service remains an issue. the team in the kitchen appears to be hard working and proud of their work. the servers that deliver your food are something else. the only word that i can find is pretentious. i have great respect for all forms of work, all work is honorable. asking a person that has just delivered your burger to you for a napkin should be an easy thing to address. it just seems that asking for anything out of what is provided is perceived incorrectly by the staff. beer and burgers is not a science project. patrons work hard for their money and when they dine and drink at your establishment, they should not be viewed as meaningless. fortunately, napkins were delivered, the food was good and the beer was exceptional. my one recommendation for the staff is to work on the attitude. we all have bad days but today's customer has so many opportunities for good beer and burgers throughout the city. take your customer seriously...no matter how good the beer and burgers, a maltreated customer will find another place to take their money.

i just left theholygrail for a 2nd time and i am highly disappointed. after being directed to the upstairs loft, my two friends and i ordered beers and were greeted by an ungrateful waitress. we ordered 2 orders of fries and 3 orders of the poems tacos. when we received our food, the tacos were dry and i asked the waitress if there was any salsa. she responded without looking up by saying that the tacos were aleady garnished. after we ate. few bites and realized just how dry they were, i inquired again about some kind of sauce or salsa. once again, the waitress blew off our concerns and said that the tacos were already garnished. she didn't seem to be the least bit concerned about our experience or our food. i generally tip between 25-30% everytime i eat out. this time, after much consideration, i decided that our waitress wasn't worthy of normal tipping standards. considering how rude our waitress was, i decided to leave a $2 tip. i really didn't wnt to leave anything but my conscience got the better part of me. as i was walking outside, the waitress came running after
me and yelled "$2 tip. dont come back." i wa totally embarrassed. my friend left his keys at the bar and we came back for them. the waitress had thrown them in the trash can and the manager had to dig them out. i will not go back after the experience we had and would not reccomendholygrail to anyone.

so you haven’t been to theholygrale on bardstown road yet? i’m not sure why. do you not like drinking craft beer in a century-old renovated church? maybe it’s the inexpensive and delicious food menu featuring different cheeses, chocolates, scotch quail eggs, fries with different sauces, pretzels, or sweet potato & black bean tacos.

jesse ordered the fritjes with poutine, a dish i will explain for our non-canadian versed readers. fritjes with poutine is fries with gravy and cheese curds. the thought of putting gravy on what if you read this blog seems to be my favorite food literally makes me gag a little butholyholy jesse loved it. instead of their typical gravy they used a short rib gravy the chef had created randomly that evening. so, because we didn't have the regular version, i can't speak for it, but if you happen to go on 'short rib gravy night' then apparently you're in for a treat. jesse, a sucker for anything involving quail eggs (that sounds so pretentious and annoying doesn't it?) ordered the scotch quail eggs. the hard boiled quail eggs wrapped in chorizo and breaded in panko were spicy and creamy but a little on the greasy side. the pretzels and beer cheese were excellent and undeniably a perfect accompaniment with beer - though i think we all knew that now didn't we? overall, it's a good place to

awesome.. a friend and i checked out theholygrale for the first time last night. the decor is awesome, especially the bar made from old barrel staves and illuminated with recessed lighting. beer selection is as extensive as you'd expect from the people responsible for the louisville beer store. the food is also very impressive. of the selections offered, we shared more than half. since basically everyone now is doing a play on sliders, i was impressed that theirs managed to stand out so much, due mostly to the inspired addition of pickled ginger. the scotch quail eggs are also not to be missed and the fries are some of the best i've had in louisville.
