hoffbrau steak & grill house

find a different place- any place will be better.. driving from mn to az, and stopped in amarillo for the night. tried hoffbrau steak and experienced the worst meal we have experienced in our 47 years together. the wait person brought out our entrées well before we had finished the salad. i had the chickenfriedsteak which was tough and the batter on it is what normally encases cod in fish and chips. the gravy was mediocre. hard to believe, but i have had much better chickenfriedsteak in minnesota than in texas. my wife had the smoked sirloin medium ordered medium rare. the steak was medium to well done, was only barely warm and tasted as if it had been cooked well before we arrived and then reheated in a microwave. wait person was rude and extremely unprofessional. we will never again enter a hoffbrau steakhouse.

don't order the ribeye.. i love this place. thefriedokra is the best.

just don't order the steak. it is the worst i have ever had.

everything else is great.

gave it a 2nd shot. after a huge disappointment a couple of years ago, my wife and i decided to give it another shot. there will not be a 3rd. the smoked sausage appetizer was tough to chew. my chickenfriedsteak was charred all the way through. i'm not 100% sure that there was actually meat between the burnt breading. my wife ordered the catfish which was over cooked, her hush puppies were crunchy, and her potato wedges were mush. on a positive note, the water was good.

i do believe this will be the last time we go back. i remember when this place used to be a favorite. they need to figure out what's changed between now and 10 years ago and go back to that.

chicken fry was awesome might need to have a contest! ditto on the ribs!! knocked it out of the park mark (!) we will be back

this was a good choice for atmosphere and ribeye steak. the service was great. i would not recommend the chickenfriedsteak. the meat was tough and breading was greasy. my kids liked it too

nice !!!...friedgreen tomatoes, baby back ribs and texan steak... great food..kids menu not the good but overall a great meal...

hoffbra steaks. had dinner here on saturday evening (10-12-13) with six others: i ordered a chickenfriedsteak: there were no options for a veg to go with the order: it came with the only choice available that night, potatoes with gravy: the steak was over cooked and almost charred inside. the entire food display at our table was less than mediocre at best. all of us in our group were disappointed greatly with the food. service was good, just poor food. we will not go back.

amarillo jalepeno appetizer. had some really good steaks here (sirloin and t bone) entertaining customers on two occasions....what i remember the most however is the amazingfriedjalepeno's appetizer. my word they were fantastic! they batter, fry and serve with horseradish based sauce and look like lace lying on the platter.

order these if you like spicy and unique foods. baked potato was excellent as well (loaded) and the steaks were cooked just right at medium. not bad on price either. atmosphere and servers were right up there with the food.

passing thru town again so had to stop by. they are doing some remodeling but the food & service are still great!

tried thefriedpickles - they were not good. :-/ however, the steak i ordered was cooked perfectly and was delicious. the service was fantastic.

never fails.... i always seem to get this even when i don't finish it. there's something about the simple way it's prepared. i don't need any sauces or fancy toppings on any of my steaks. theirfriedjalapeno appetizer is a good way to start your meal though i don't get it often. also, i choose the steak soup instead of a salad -- i'm very much a carnivore. good restaurant!

it had been a while since my last visit to hoffbrau and i was impressed. the bartender was cordial and served up great drinks. the bread was fresh and hot and thefriedgreen tomatoes were outstanding. the sirloin tasted wonderful but was bit overcooked but overall it was a great experience.

ribeye. i had a real steak here for the first time and was pleased! i had always had the smoked sirloin; a friend had told me the steaks were great. i also had thefriedgreen tomatoes and a 1554 beer. i met a woman there that i knew who always goes to hoffbrau when she is in amarillo. and i see why: the steak was done perfectly and flavored just right.

i had never had thefriedgreen tomatoes and loved them!
