hitching post hyde park restaurant & catering

this hitching post location over-rates itself by claiming to serve "the world's best fried chicken." it's not terrible, but certainly not the best in the world or even in cincinnati. (the hitching post restaurant located on kellogg actually serves tastier fried chicken, albeit in humbler surroundings.)

the same mediocrity applies to most of its lunch andbreakfastofferings. the service is adequate and friendly enough to make diners feel comfortable and welcome.

the food here is so yummy fried chicken is my favorite they have it any time of day. double deckers are great too. service and prices are awesome. i want to go again right now. oh and get the mini potato pancakes. yum

i love this place. it's unpretentious and the fried chicken and double decker sandwiches are awesome. i'm not much of abreakfastperson so i love that i can eat fried chicken at ten am. great service goods prices yum!

awesome experience!. my friend & i wanted to go somewhere for a good breakfast. we were referred to hitching post (hp) in hyde park. we had never been there before but decided to try hp. we were surprisingly, thoroughly satisfied! our waitress was friendly and accurate. the service in asking for specially prepared items was excellently delivered! the food was prepared quickly & served piping hot! the presentation was amazing! & ing the taste was so delicious & wonderful! we thoroughly enjoyed this meal! hitching post'sbreakfastselections will exceed any foodie's expectations! we plan to return this coming saturday morning for another delightfulbreakfastdining experience!

the best fried chicken in the city. for the money they have the best fried chicken in the city. it comes with many sides, and anybody who loves chicken with love their chicken. ken

breakfast, 3 eggs biscuits gravy and many potato cakes. the dish comes out very hot and very quickquick, i like my eggs once over easy, also there are homemade biscuits and gravy are excellent an you also get many potato pancakes. which i also order extra applesauce. they always get my eggs right. i would recommend thisbreakfastanybody was hungry. great portion size an excellent staff. makes you feel comfortable and the restaurant. ken

great breakfast. i have been going here on weekends for breakfast. it is a great spot. homey atmosphere. you get yourbreakfastthe way you like with no hassle over substitutions. staff is great.

just good all around. this area is replete with many dining establishments......many very fancy and pricey and too few that are just good and partial to the down home, concept of good food, hp is well done, the basics.....the hitching post is easy, they appreciate their staff and customers, not upscale fancy with the upscale $, never had a badbreakfastor other meal there.....often do carry out due to my schedule, love the fried chicken and burger options.......specials for eat in are good, soups my favorite......

dr. g.w. mundy. our group, which can vary from as few as four to as many as eleven, enjoysbreakfasteach sunday at the hyde parkhitching post located on madison rd. the food has been consistently good and the service friendly, efficient and very professional. a much appreciated courtesy provided is individual checks that are often complicated for our server by spouses not sitting next to each other. i think i can safely speak for our entire group when i say we have never had an unpleasant dinning experience.

breakfast bonanza. a group of us has been meeting forbreakfastat the hyde park location about once a week and we are never disappointed. the place is clean and nicely furnished, the food hot and tasty, the servers efficient and friendly. this is a true cincinnati gem.

honest food - honest folks. we have been going to the hitching post for a few years. have never been disappointed, whether it be their perfect fried chicken, amazingbreakfastchoices, meat loaf, chicken dumplings, fish choices -- or home-made pies that are truly delicious -- not overly sweet. the welcoming and service continue to be superior -- very natural; never overly-attentive. this very inviting home-like restaurant is always clean. their omelettes and otherbreakfastchoices could not be better -- even from my own kitchen. cannot imagine a disappointing experience from this restaurant. still, should there be a bad moment, have no doubt that the hitching post would make it right. hitching post fried chicken, greyhound fried chicken, and the fried chicken (only on sundays) at the all in restaurant in erlanger -- each exceptionally good, yet each is different. the hitching post aims to please in all respects. if you don't like it here, best that you just stay home and do your own cooking -- and we are seasoned citizens.

so tasty. the hitching post is hands down my favoritebreakfastspot in cincinnati. the skillets and kettle cakes literally make my mornings. i stop to eat here whenever i am in town. delicious

the chicken is the best. my wife and i go to this place whenever we are looking for good fried chicken. the food is excellent. i don't love all the sides. the mashed potatoes are good but the mac and cheese is a little more kraft than soul food. other than that small gripe we love the place.
i have also sampled thebreakfastand thought it was pretty good. it was definitely better than any ihop or perkins in the city. it wasn't 5 star but it definitely had a humble home cooked meal feel to it.i would recommend the place for someone looking for a good meal without the fuss for a good price who wants to give back to a local restaurant and avoid the chains.

the chicken.... ...this place is known for chicken, & they don't disappoint! golden brown, seasoned just right w/sides...not abreakfastplace, though-more of a lunch, dinner kind of thing. decent sandwiches, too...

i went here with my friends forbreakfastexpecting a really goodbreakfastbased on the reviews i read on here...couldn't have been further from the truth. not only was the service horrific but the food wasn't even close to bob evans or even ihop quality. don't waste your time.

breakfast. the hitching post offers the bestbreakfaston the east side. the staff is extremely friendly and the walls are decorated with pictures of the oriignal staff. i haven't had the chicken, so i can't comment, but its my one and only stop after a hard night of drinking.
