such an interesting and uniquerestaurantin downtown midway, with a clean and relaxing decor, astute service, quality sweet tea, and a fun experience.

i ordered the mary burger (cheddar cheese, lettuce and tomato on a toasted kaiser roll), served with “shoestring” heirloom fries (the owner claims that “mary,” the owner’s grandmother, was known for her burgers, and that johnny unitas, an occasional household guest, would travel from baltimore to hazard just for her burgers). my wife ordered the buttermilk-brined fried chicken (juicy and moist meat, but the chicken could benefit, in my opinion, from stronger seasoning), served with fork-mashed yukon potatoes, sage brown sauce and arugula.

for dessert, i ordered the seasonal homemade ice cream – honey and walnuts – a cleansing taste, which was perfect after a heavier meal. an amazing meal - come check it out!

excellent evening. a little gem in kentucky. food excellent and very fresh, and service was fine. i sometimes wonder why some people find little faults and write silly negative reviews. maybe its the reviewers that are at fault, not a lovely littlerestaurantlike this one

a gathering of friends. the four of us, friends for more than thirty years had a day together in midway, ky. we had a special lunch at the heirloom restaurant. we each ordered a different entree so we could sample the various meals. mine, of course, is the best we all said as we ate our lunch.

we will return next year for a special time and meal together in midway, ky. we will lunch at the the heirloomrestaurantas we do every june each year.

a-mazing!. we decided to hit heirloom up this past weekend for my birthday celebration, after visiting their website. first off, we were floored at the quality and care the chef took to prepare all the offerings on his menu. this is the kind ofrestaurantmy family and i dream about having near by...and it's not to far away from our little town. dishes you can not pass up (which a lot are seasonal) the chicken livers were divine, seabass empanadas, the chilli tiger prawns entree and the chicken breast will most definitely get me back soon!
i have no complaints over the food. the service was fantastic as well. the environment is relaxing but if i would offer one complaint.....it would be over the acoustics and sound in the room. it was so loud at some points, i could not hear the conversation at the other end of the table (for 6). hoping they might work on the acoustic sound conditioning a little.

awesomerestaurantin a picturesque little town. the food is always delicious and fresh. the waitstaff is always attentive and courteous. a few restaurants in midway have come and gone but this one deserves to stay. excellent wine list as well.

nice, upscalerestaurantbut a tad too pricey for what you get although fod is excellent and presented beautifully. service is excellent. the room is loud so i would not choose it for an intimate meal.

bestrestaurantin ky. heirloom in midway is far removed from lexington and its dining scene. heirloom has always had its finger on the pulse of modern cuisine while staying true to regional fundamentals. the chicken livers are satisfying in every sense of the word. you can't go wrong with their menu, just close your eyes and make your choice or let the chef do it for you.

go for the food, not the atmosphere. their fried chicken livers are as good as any you'll ever have, and their burgers are great. however, everything is way overpriced, and the decor is a little too sterile and cosmopolitan for a tiny kentucky town, and the service is unremarkable. i guess some folks tire of the thoroughbred-horses-and-railroad theme of all the other places in town, but when i'm in midway that's what i want to see! if the bistro la belle (my favorite upscalerestaurantin the state) wasn't literally next door i would probably rank heirloom a lot higher...
