harry's seafood bar and grille

great food.harry'sseafood and grill is a gem. it has great seafood! it also has good drinks :)

i came to tallahassee for work and foundharry'smy first night there. it was a tuesday and on tuesday's it's happy hour all day. nice. so i tried the big easy cocktail and it was delish. fried green tomatoes for an appetizer- excellent. the shrimp & scallops for dinner served on grit cakes (awesome) and collard greens (also awesome). topped it off with the seasonal dessert peach cobbler- yummy!

for a midwestern gal, this was some great southern seafood!

first visit toharry'swent off without a hitch. fast friendly service at happy hour. i had the catfish pontchartrain and my wife had the stuffed shrimp. my catfish was a lightly breaded small filet that had a great flaky texture. my only gripe is it could have been seasoned a bit more. the collards had a sweet flavor so if you are expecting a bit of tang you are out of luck. the shrimp were large and quite tasty i was told.  all in all a positive experience.

i've been toharry'stwice and both times the food has been good. i ordered the chicken baton rouge and it was very good. the drinks were a little on the weak side but the service and atmosphere were very nice. the wait time can get a bit long but other than that it was a satisfying experience.

you won't get sick.. no one should ever get food poisoning atharry'sbecause the food is very overcooked. i ordered the sea scallops and he ordered the trout, both were poorly done. my scallops were like rubber bouncing balls and chewy. his trout was so thin and over-fried that the fish and breading were nearly indistinguishable from one another. the menu offers many overly garliced item such as the smashed potatoes. for the prices it is just not worth it.

i went toharry'slast week and the service was great and the food was good. it a little pricey but you get a lot of food. it's a nicer place than most of the places i frequent but was impressed. i would recommend.

good place for lunch or dinner. great atmosphere and service. we have enjoyed several specials include the shrimp and grits. i think thisharry'sis much better than others i have been to in florida.

we have been coming toharry'sfor about 23 years since we lived in jacksonville. i have never had a bad meal in all that time. we love harry's!

best bread & butter. i adoreharry'sand have been visiting for about two years. i have always sat outside, the balcony provides a great sunset view and a relaxing place to unwind with friends. their bread and butter is my favorite anywhere- if i could purchase it for my home i would! also their caesar salads are delicious! i am very picky about caesar's but i love this one and the large portion size is enough of a meal for me. overall,harry'shas awesome food, drinks and service- certainly a wonderful place!

can the food make up for the bad hostessing. the food and drinks are awesome atharry'sbut the hostess desk sucks... they are a bunch of prima-donna blondies with very little customer service skills. we waited an hour and fifteen minutes to be seated. my husband went back to the desk and the hostess didn't even acknowledge him- she began talking to another hostess about her lipstick. finally another hostess asked if he needed help, then the original hostess turned around.

i have been toharry'sa lot, usually with friends who want to meet in a convenient place downtown. it's a great setting with a nice view and attractive inside. for those reasons i want to like it and have gone there more often than i should have hoping i'd find something redeeming. it's food, particularly the cajun dishes are weak, formulaic with little kick or taste. it's like cajun as done by mcdonald's or walmart. the table service is tolerable but not good. but far less excusable is the practically nonexistent bar service. this has nothing to do with the bartenders, who are friendly and good at their craft. the fault is with management who have hired only enough to keep up with the table service and haven't understood that an extra one or two bartenders for the bar patrons would be more profitable for the establishment. when it opened i hoped it would be like jake's in portland, oregon. no such luck.

great for an evening out with someone special. my boyfriend and i frequentharry'sbecause of it's proximity to where we live. the neighborhood is undoubtedly the better side of tallahassee, and the restaurants in the area convey that.harry'sis tops for seafood in a town where most restaurants serve exclusively frozen -harry'sis consistently changing up the menu and is always offering fresh seafood entrees. my boyfriend is not a big fan of seafood, but he enjoys the steak and the pork dishes very much.harry'sboasts an impressive bar with a wide selection of beer and wine (great whites!) it has a great ambience about it and when we have guests staying with us in tallahassee, this is where we take them to dine!

phenomenal food. great wine. always a great time!

can be dissapointing. i've been toharry'sa few times. the first time was outstanding! second time, terrible. service sucked and food was almost inedible. if you plan on going toharry'sgo when its busy that's when the food is the best.

the reason i loathe going toharry'sis because their service is bottom rung. i've never had horrible service with such great consistency as i have at harry's. i have been toharry'sat least 6 times over the past few years with maybe 1 positive experience.

wait staff doesn't bring drinks in timely fashion, refills, food, etc. they'll serve a hot dish that is cold (plate and all). one time a single order (my wife's) was "lost" when dining with a group of 8.

another time, on a week night, there were less than 10 people in the entire restaurant. we waited over an hour for 4 soups and 1 salad. that's all the group had ordered! then the soups came out ice cold. when they came back out, they were too hot to eat.

i'm by no means a restaurant snob, but this place always enfuriates me. it's a real shame because the food really is great.
