thefoodwas great it was the waiter i gave him $100.25 myfoodwas $25.08 he bought me back $50.00 hr decided to top himself $25.00 and all i had was 2 blue motorcycles and clam chowder i tip jim $10.00 i go here all the time and yo be honest he was the worst waiter i ever had.i noticed my change when he bought it back then gonna say i tried it i have two witnesses pulled out a lot of money from his left pocket and gave me the rest of my money my feeling was so hurt that he would try and steal my money. i'm writing this review yo tell you'll yo be careful oh and ps mind you i said i gave him $100.25 and my good was 25.08 he still kept change smh he should be fired i can imagine how many people he's done this to.😡😡😡

this is good sh......... this place had greatfoodevery thing we tried was outstanding fish,shrimp,oysters.... nothing we had was bad. this is a bar type setting in a dive kind of set-up so you are going for thefoodand it is worth it..

went with a party of 8. it was not busy at all and it took forever to get our food. didn't order anything complicated at all. mainly just appetizers. i was so disappointed and will most likely never come back. thefoodcame out at random times, friedfoodwas soggy, and not at all warm.

friday dinner. we stopped in at 530 friday for a nice dinner. thefoodwas good but i was disappointed by the loud obnoxious group at the bar. i can only assume that happy hour started very early. you could not have a conversation in our booth over it. i could understand having to put up with it if we were at the bar or even if it were later in the evening. we won't be back

the atmosphere is casual/nautical. the quality of thefoodhere is great! everything seemed to be fairly fresh. the only critique i had with the dish was that it was in desperate need of some salt to the point that the scallops had almost no flavor. this is definitely a high 3 star restaurant, it would easily be a four if the flavor was there. this restaurant is definitely worth a dinner one night you’re in the mood for seafood.

last saturday i had a taste for some raw oysters, so i went online to find the nearest place that did the raw oysters sort of thing. harpoon larry’s was that kind of place. the newly built one, while further away than the old place, was still the closest of the 6 or 7 oyster bars near me. i remember harpoon larry’s from the old location; while thefoodwas good, the restaurant itself was always too crowded, and it was hard to find parking. however, you would always be satisfied when yourfoodarrived. last saturday was no different. lunch time is the best time to go if you’re trying to avoid the crowds, plus you’ll find ample parking during the lunch hours. i started out with a half a dozen raw oysters (they have several types of oysters, and they vary in size and flavor), and i finished with a nice-sized fried flounder fish sandwich. both were delicious. since i sat at the bar, i had a clear view of the football game and the lovely, world-class oyster shucker in action.

last couple of times we went.foodhas changed oyster rockafella used to be the best ever,seems like now they use cheaper cheese not like it used to be.

still talking about it. i've read some of the reviews and am in awe! the restaurant my family and i attended was awesome. from the time we walked in and sawfoodcome to our table was 10 minutes. the she-crab soup was over-the-top good, so was the shrimp, gumbo, poboys and king crab.

we were in town for a sad occasion hoping to never come to newport news again, but after eating here and having such a great time, we now have something to look forward when we come to bush gardens. kentucky loves hl's!!

i'd been wanting to try this place for a while and i finally had the opportunity on st. patrick's day so it seemed like a perfect time to hit it up. i got there after work at about 4:45 pm on a monday so as you'd expect it wasn't very crowded. i grabbed a spot at the bar. the bar servers were very polite and provided good service. i was impressed with their beer selection. i had the mahi mahi fish tacos and thought they were very tasty. i also enjoyed the oyster monday special and was impressed with the quality of their oysters. it was getting pretty crowded at the bar by the time i finished. i can see how some other reviewers had a bad experience because i've heard from friends that this place gets very crowded especially on weekends and that it is hard to find a parking spot.

maybe it was the time of day that i was there, but i had a very enjoyable meal and thought the service andfoodwere excellent. i will be going back based on my experience and taking my wife next time.

terrible service and rude waitress and management. would not recommend if you are not the right skin color. long waiting period andfoodis not that good. i have been stationed all over the united states and overseas, harpoon larry's was my worst experience i have ever encountered. this is my first review that i have ever wrote about any establishment but i am making it my mission to report this on every review site, bbb and the military acs.

mark. theirfoodis as good as ever, but really, $9 bloody marys on sunday afternoon, give me a break!!! bloody marys are $1 to $5 all over town on sundays. you'refoodis great but i can't afford your bms. we won't be back on sundays. wake up, brunch is normally a special price not a special surprise!!

new location, new experience. harpoon larry's was a 2-3 times a month place we would go to for seafood. since it moved to newport news i had not visited til last night (friday 11:00 pm) half of the seating was closed parking was fine. my experience was nothing like the harpoon larry's in the old location. i ordered the combination platter. nothing was good about it. the shrimp (3) we over cooked and rubbery, the crab cake was overly salty (clearly too much old bay seasoning, the sweet potato fries were soaked with oil probably due to their size that ranged from a large wedge to shoe string size (so even cooking was impossible) the oyster were over cooked and without flavor. service was slow and poor. music... the plume of nasty cigaret smoke that came in as staff and people opened the smoking section door, smh. i'll stop here cause, the truth is who care about anything else if thefoodwas up to par. just a total disappointment! harpoon larry's of hampton you will be missed

best broiled crab cakes and key line pie in hampton roads. parking sucks, but who cares when thefoodis this good!

stuffed mushrooms best ever

the new location is a lot better than the old location, however they don't have enough parking and most of their staff take up the available spots. was told just a little wait, which turned out to be 1 hour.foodwas pretty good but our waitress was slow and didn't really check on us other than to take our order and serve us. my fried oysters were pretty good though. most of the staff were out back hanging out and smoking, clearly visible by any patrons in the parking lot, they even have a circle of chairs setup so you can tell this is a regular thing which probably explains the missing staff and slow service. didn't care much for their coleslaw as it had no flavor and was really bland.

great oysters. i went here one afternoon for lunch to try out their oysters. i really enjoyed my experience here. the restaurant felt pretty cozy and there were plenty of locals. the oysters were fresh from the bay and delicious. they also had some tasty beers on tap which was surprising.
