great food! great drinks! the crab nachos were amazing! my husband enjoyed the tuna! server was perfect! definitely a must for the weekday specials too!

shrimp and grits was beyond amazing!!!  the stuffed flounder was my favorite until i tried it.  even the drinks from the bartenders are good.  the best part is you can leave your car there if you they are too good. lol

don't order the seafood salad. i ordered the seafood salad, which according to the menu should have had king crab in it. what i got was a few small thin pieces of snow crab. anyone who has eaten both types of crab would recognize the difference immediately. big difference in the quality, taste and price -- not to mention i felt cheated by the deception. . i rate harpoon larry's a big zero. needless to say, i will never go back again.

everything was wonderful. well worth the $66 and spills of cocktail sauce on my shirt!

last couple of times we went. food has changed oyster rockafella used to be the best ever,seems like now they use cheaper cheese not like it used to be.

i don't know how this place survies. i so so seafood at best and expensive. most of the crowd here is kinda rough and just drink.

still talking about it. i've read some of the reviews and am in awe! the restaurant my family and i attended was awesome. from the time we walked in and saw food come to our table was 10 minutes. the she-crab soup was over-the-top good, so was the shrimp, gumbo, poboys and king crab.

we were in town for a sad occasion hoping to never come to newport news again, but after eating here and having such a great time, we now have something to look forward when we come to bush gardens. kentucky loves hl's!!

veterans discount. after getting the third degree as to whether i was a veteran or not and having my picture taken i got a whooping $1.42 discount. also, your crab cake sandwich doesn't compare to the surf rider and or the crab shack.

keep away. the fried oyster's were watery and tasted dirty. service was terrible except when it was time to pay. not good. better options out there

downhill sliding at a more rapid pace than before. went on a thursday for the 1 lb shrimp special. she-crab was cold and real thick w/ a small handful of canned crab dumped in the middle of the bowl. don't get it. shrimp were ok, and getting more expensive. waitress was attentive and good. am guessing that the day manager (he) fancied himself as some kind of dj/music connoisseur. the real loud music was certainly unrecognizable, but he didn't care what the customers thought. the bar customers and barmaid even adversely commented, but to no avail. next time we'll pass in favor of others.

new location has lost the pizzazz. the new location is sterile and not as welcoming as the old. yes it is bigger so more people can be served but because of this the atmosphere is not wonderful like the old location. i understand they had to move but they changed the menu as well and the new menu isn't as nice. although i was told by the management that if i wanted something they had at the old place i could get it by asking it was a major fight with the wait staff to do this. also, i noticed that portions are not as generous as at the old location. although not bad as a whole my patronage has gone from several times a month to several times a year.

i'd been wanting to try this place for a while and i finally had the opportunity on st. patrick's day so it seemed like a perfect time to hit it up. i got there after work at about 4:45 pm on a monday so as you'd expect it wasn't very crowded. i grabbed a spot at the bar. the bar servers were very polite and provided good service. i was impressed with their beer selection. i had the mahi mahi fish tacos and thought they were very tasty. i also enjoyed the oyster monday special and was impressed with the quality of their oysters. it was getting pretty crowded at the bar by the time i finished. i can see how some other reviewers had a bad experience because i've heard from friends that this place gets very crowded especially on weekends and that it is hard to find a parking spot.

maybe it was the time of day that i was there, but i had a very enjoyable meal and thought the service and food were excellent. i will be going back based on my experience and taking my wife next time.

well said tony-miller...ate there with my family and had the same exact experience! i thought i was imaging things until i read your review. and just like you this is the first time i've ever written a review about any restaurant. i'm also military and have traveled a lot! and never in my life have i experience such poor service! i will never recommended this place to anyone!!!

don't recommend. ok food, terrible service and rude hostess. i used to frequent this restaurant when it was located in hampton. amazing that when their space was more limited they managed their seating much better. my husband and i went to the new location and was told that they could not give us an idea of how long the wait would be for a table. give me a break....all restaurants have a way of managing an approximate wait time. i was not asking for an exact time, only a range so that we could make a decision about where to have dinner. harpoon larry's has been doing this long enough to have the logistics of table wait time figured out. the hostess was very rude! will not go back!

terrible service and rude waitress and management. would not recommend if you are not the right skin color. long waiting period and food is not that good. i have been stationed all over the united states and overseas, harpoon larry's was my worst experience i have ever encountered. this is my first review that i have ever wrote about any establishment but i am making it my mission to report this on every review site, bbb and the military acs.
