have to see it to believe it.portionsare enormous. sandwiches will easily satisfy 4 people. potato pancakes are great. everything is made in kitchen visible from dining area. this is not the place for a light snack!! you'll most probably leave with a doggy bag no matter how much you eat.

great deli, but not for eating solo, and pushing it for a duce. at first glance, prices seem high, but the servings are appropriate to the price. would be an excellent choice for a group of 4 or more where you can share.

they go through a ton of deli, so it's always fresh. what else can you say about a deli? no creative chef here, just great jewish style food with hugeportionsmade to share. i stop every time i'm in the area.

if you come for nothing more than a huge slice of cake, it's worth it. theportionsare huge, and are all made (and priced) for 2-5 people, so be prepared to split something or go home with 8lbs of meat and bread later. but if you truly love jewish food (and pickle bars!) it's definitely a great stop.

prison mess hall, rude people. if you enjoy dining in a prison mess hall, you'll love it there. yes, don't get me wrong the food is great and theportionsare generous and there is a pickle bar. although from the moment you walk in till the moment your done eating, there are constantly waiters and other staff posted up all over the restaurant constantly starring at you and everyone else every other second making sure that no one dares to try and take an extra pickle or a little coleslaw home, god forbid. it was almost creepy, it made me feel as though i was in a prison mess hall constantly being watched by guards. also i found the staff extremely rude and stuck up, i did not appreciate it at all especially after being nothing but respectful. i will never return to harold's and will ensure no one i know goes their either. terrible experience. there's nothing i hate more in this world than rude people.

amazingportionsand food!. i was visiting family in new jersey and stopped by this place with a group of 7 people. we only had to order two sandwiches to feed all of us! the food was absolutely fantastic, the pickles were amazing, and the dessert was also exceptional! i will definitely be making a return visit if i find myself in new jersey again.

sometimes it's important to go back to your roots, to where it all began...even if it's on steroids and turned up to 12. my first exposure to food as culture was as a child, growing up in a jewish family in new york. all we did was eat. birth, death, life cycle events, wednesday night all included eating a bevy of foods. harold's is a new york deli (in new jersey) that brings me right back to childhood.  they have the world's only known pickle bar, and dr. brown's sodas are featured prominently. the stars of the show are most definitely the sandwiches. before i go on, there's something you must know about harold's. theportionsare ludicrous. a regular size sandwich is really meant to feed two or three people depending on appetites. if you're a little crazy, a sandwich can be finished by a single person. the best option is the pure jewish original, the pastrami on rye. mustard, never mayo. the pastrami is right between fatty and lean, and smoked post brine to perfection. an egg cream (

great deli, but be prepared to share. harold (yes, there is an actual harold) is noted for his extremely generousportionsof everything. sandwiches, burgers, potato pancakes, cakes and pastries are huge. if you can, be prepared to share your sandwich with 2 or even 3 friends. otherwise, take the leftovers home. with sandwiches, there is always extra bread to wrap up and take with you.

harold's features some of the best deli meats you will find anywhere. the roast turkey is real turkey, not loaf. roast beef and corned beef are lean, and if you order the pastrami, you'll be asked if you want it regular or lean. and the lean pastrami is really lean.

harold's also offers family dinners. but, you need to have a really large family, or be prepared to eat it again.

the restaurant is exceptionally clean. the kitchen is behind a glass wall, so you can see everything going on, including your meal preparation. the dining room is typlically deli, with blue formica-topped tables and straight backed chairs. the walls are covered with photos of new york city scenes.

it seems pricey on the surface, but remember that you'll get 2 or 3 more sandwiches out of that pastrami on pumpernickel that you ordered.

go big or go home. seriously the biggestportionsyou will ever see.

order a sandwich for the table, and you are still taking some home for leftovers. excellent! this is what deli is supposed to be.

the eclairs are as big as a loaf of bread but smothered with with chocolalely goodness and filled with tasty cream.

i just gained a pound thinking about this place.
