the best in town. i love halibut house, and order take-out at least twice a month. the food is fresh and flavourful, msg-free and they seem to use minimal "grease." i never feel that i've polluted myself after eating food from halibut house, you know? you can tell that they keep their deep-fryers clean and change the oil often.
the green beans are definitely a highlight--all of their veggie dishes are great, crisp and tasty, mmmm bokchoy--but here are some others must-haves:
deep-fried ha gow (which you can also get pan-fried, i think): chewy pockets stuffed with fat shrimp and lots of 'em. i've never seen these anywhere else, and they are divine.
dumplings: their version of gyoza, very tasty
wor won ton soup: one order serves two people, and each person will, without fail, end up with a bowl full of chicken, bbq pork, prawns, bok choy, mushrooms, pea-pods, water chestnut and lots of yummy won tons. they do not skimp on the goods in this soup!
sweet 'n' sour pork: best in town, as far as i'm concerned
house special chow mein: delicious, no fake mystery meat strips, not greasy.
anyway, if you decide to dine in, don't let the small space and not-exactly-asian decor dissuade you. sherry's an attentive hostess (i think she owns it with her husband, who is the chef....) andserviceis very polite, and they welcome kids, and there's a 10% discount if you order take-out.
