love it! when ya' just gotta' have some cajun. verygoodfor casual cajun. prices are very reasonable. you can have a small sample of any dish you want to try. atmosphere is ok, very small seating area inside. in my opinion about asgoodas you're gonna get in this area.

here is where i go for cajun/creole.
+ all of the dishes i have tried have tasted good. no bad dishes.
+ just the right amount of heat, with the option of adding more if you want (the garlic hot sauce is excellent).
+gooddeal (amount for the price).
+ very straightforward experience. prices already include tax, so no fiddling around for change much. your dish is ready in seconds.
+ they have ale-8 at the fountain!
- the only negative is that the interior could use some sprucing up. it's not bad, but it could use a refresh.

so glad these guys are back on my side of town. verygoodfast cajun/creole cooking. the restaurant is pretty nice as far as strip mall interiors go, and although i got the food to go, i would definitely sit inside. recommended: maque choux. one request: serve the food on recyclable containers?

it's a fair place, with decent food at a very decent price. it is themed for creole cooking, and the food does taste good. it is not a place where i would go if i need to pamper myself, but instead, i would go on a normal day to fulfil my appetite withgoodfood at a nominal price.

i got the gumbo plate and although it wasn't the greatest i've had, the portion was huge, it wasgoodand the price was reasonable. i wish i'd have done a split plate and tried the red beans and sausage. cool offering that i didn't take advantage of.

best value in town!. i go here on my lunch break at least 4-5 times a month. love the maque choux and their homemade garlic hot sauce is delicious. i usually get the small serving (which is two servings for me) with a drink for around $6-$7. it's really a steal for the quality of food you're getting. have yet to try any of their other dishes just because the maque choux is sogoodi have to get it every time.

second time eating here, three more entrees. the food food is very good, full of deep flavors. consistent. this is the key to a well run kitchen.

between the two gumbo joints in lexington, gumbo ya ya is by far the place to go. the food here has a cleaner less muddled taste. the red beans are very good. the sauce has great flavor and some nice heat. the saltyness of the beans works well with the heat. the sausage used is of quality. i love the yatwich, the bread however is very soft and doughy. the chicken is very spicy, in agoodway. i will try this again with rice. the gumbo is good. its on the mild side. if you wantgoodcajun this is the place to try.

the thing about cajun.... i grew up in a cajun household... and here's the deal. authentic cajun food is whatever cajun food your cajun family cooked. everybody's grandma cooked it differently - all weregood- but everyone's preference is personalized just as if you grew up in a southern home. fried chicken is fried chicken but every grandma fries it differently.

to me - flavors are a little weak. chicken creole actually could have used salt as did the shrimp e'touffee. neither are what i grew up on butgoodnone-the-less.

prices are right, quick moving line but the place was a little dirty. maybe from the volume of customers.

i think their e'touffee may be closer to classic but bnt creole is closer to classic.

i have been here a few times now and have been satisfied every time. they have a varying selection of 8-10 cajun dishes. they let you sample any of them for free, which is nice. you can get a small plate (~$6 i think) or a large (~$8), and if you get a large you can get two dishes split halvsies (for an extra $1 i think).

the portion size on a large plate is plentiful, i sometimes can only finish half of it. it's a great value for the price.

they usually have agoodvariety of dishes. one time i got a dish with alligator meat, that was pretty interesting.

overall, this is an ideal place for anyone wanting some filling, goodquality cajun food without spending over $10.

watch your credit card receipt!. i used to get the chicken etoufee all the time here. i have already posted a similar post on yelp, but i just wanted to inform everyone that although the food here is not bad, i had an experience a long time ago which has kept me going back.

to put it in a nutshell, my credit card receipt was overcharged by a $2 tip which i did not include (i had left the tip line blank). i have more information on the aforementioned website.

one of the owners contacted me about said review and wanted me to take it down. i did not because i felt it needed to be said. she was initially friendly, but after i didn't yield to request, became somewhat threatening calling my post slanderous. first of all, written defamation is libel, not slander, but that's beside the point. secondly, on a review site, the whole point is to put your experiences, bothgoodand bad up, to potentially help others.
