guanajuato mexican

taste buds had a delightful evening. wanted to try a new restaurant...spun the urbanspoon dial and ended up here. was not denied. love the bay view area and had seen thisrestaurantmany times but never stepped into the establishment because it was always busy...now i know why. chips and salsa provided immediately and it was not the store bought variety salsa, but homemade...with a nice kick and and pieces of cilantro. asked the waiter what he recommended, and ordered it. try the carne asada. i have never had flank steak that tasted so good and it came as ordered, medium rare. i will come back.

the salsas had some great, complex flavors which i thought set a good precedence. if arestaurantcares so much about the salsa and chips, then you know everything else is going to be excellent. the carne asada tacos were amazing, as were the sopes, and huaraches. the waitstaff were really friendly, even helping me concoct a margarita from scratch (my "recipe" was awful) their house margarita was very good, so i don't know what i was thinking.

good food. very good authentic mexican food at a cheap price. service was excellent! did not care for the atmosphere however. thisrestaurantcould be so much more!

what an amazing little mexicanrestaurantin the heart of bayview. we love this place, everything is delicious and made with care. their salsa is crazy delicious, you won't be disappointed!

small dining room, large entrees. dining room is small but seats more diners than expected. the menu has a wide variety of entrées. staff is welcoming and service is good. we tried a shrimp, a chicken and a steak dish. each was well-seasoned, hot and plentiful. the rice and beans served with the meals are lackluster but i've never tasted a side of mexican rice & beans in anyrestaurantthat was remarkable. this is definitely in my top three mexican restaurants in milwaukee, and could become my favorite.

awful, awful, awful service!!! absoultely the worst service at anyrestaurantin milwaukee. no salad dressing, had to ask for water twice. guacamole was two spoonfuls and was charged 6.25! slow service and the worst dining experience.

i went to guanajuato mexicanrestaurantfor the first time on my first dinner date with my boyfriend. i love the atmosphere and the fact that every time i order, the food comes out the same-hot and delicious! i have been to just about every mexicanrestaurantin the milwaukee area and i find myself at guanajuato the most. i carry business cards in my purse because i talk about gto so much people want to check it out! the prices are lower and their salsa is to die for. every time i sit in guanajuato and look around me, all i see is happy, smiling faces enjoying the wonderful menu guanajuato has to offer! keep it up guys! :)

i hate to sound like i own the place, but guanajuato blows away any mexicanrestaurantin milwaukee. the food is so good! everything on the menu is good. usually places like these are hit or miss on some dishes they serve, but not here. the steak tacos are what they are know for... amazing! honestly its hard to recommend what to eat. everything! the chicken quesadillas are awesome, enchiladas, you name it! you have to try your favorite. it's a smaller ma and pa kinda restaurant, so it gets busy quick during lunch and dinner. get there before 6 or you may have to wait a little while. they have the patio open during summer so that helps. it really is one of the secrets of milwaukee that not too many people know about except people in bayview. the service is great, friendly! and the prices are cheap... can't go wrong. been going here for a long time.

better in restaurant, not take-out. here's the thing with this restaurant. we've eaten in therestaurantalready, and food was plentiful, very good & very friendly service. i just didn't care for the atmosphere, so had hubby pick up food. 1. it took me quite a while on the phone to explain my order; as the person who answered didn't seem to understand english very well. food wasn't as good take out, probably understandably, but this seems to be the problem in 99% of authentic mexican restaurants--most just don't have a good understanding of the english language. this would be fine, but when you are trying to run arestaurantand dealing with mostly english speaking people; then it would be nice to be able to place an order with not such a great undertaking. will not be ordering take out at least from them anymore.
