grinders

hot damn!. grinders is the best, the service sucks, it looks filthy, it's loud and sometimes smells like beer but i wouldn't have it any other way.

the food is fantastic at a good price. i enjoy the staff and the patrons. the music is old and too loud but no tvs! (add five points!)

if it's your first visit do not go on "first friday" or go very early.

great pizza, beer. i had read about this place in local media, and had fairly high expectations going in. kansas city is a bit short on beer bars, and i thought grinder's could be one. the beer list was nice, certainly better than most places you go, though nothing way out there. i would call this a bar with a nice beer list, rather than a true beer bar. service was ok, took quite awhile for me to be served at the bar for lunch, and there were 4 servers on, and maybe 8 customers in the place. i actually had to ask for help. the music was up way too loud, and not to sound like an old timer, but i hate having to shout my order across the bar when the place is 95% empty. the food had been reviewed elsewhere as extraordinary, and i found it only a bit above average. i had the philly cheesesteak and it was tasty, but soggy. people say this is the best in town, and i certainly have not been here long enough to say, but i would guess there is at least one better in town.

the highlight of the place is the decor. truly original.

terrible, never going back. i saw the hype and like dives that are good, this was not it! i had the roast beef sandwich that came with their chips and an order of fries. a complete waste of $12!!! shame on me. their chips, homemade i assume, were chewy and tasteless. the fries were terrible and for $2.50 i got a small handful of truly bad and tasteless fries. the sandwich tasted good, but was a woman-sized portion and had me asking "where's the beef?" everything also had a somewhat burned taste. save your money and go elsewhere, forget the hype!

normally hubby drags me to bbq when we visit kc. this time we decided to try a ddd place. we loved this place. i especially liked the beer selection. we both had the philly cheesesteaks and they were wonderful and not oversalted. loved that you could get roasted red pepper on them. the fried goat cheese salad was also great. had a little cumin in the dressing which was very tasty. waitress was very nice and answered questions i had about the beer. overall cool place and a great alternative to bbq if you are in kc.

rude service. overpriced. small portions. you're better off somewhere else.

awesome!. they have the best ny style pizza, an excellent/peppery meatball grinder, and a really good beer selection. this place makes you proud to be an american. don't forget to have your pizza chili bombed!

very poor service. i cannot believe the atrocious service at grinder's. i've gone there over the years, each time hoping the bad service was a fluke, or had improved, but last night proved that they have no interest in treating the customer well. they completely botched our order and instead of admitting their mistake, they said our slices were still cooking, and that it really takes over a half hour for them to take a slice of pre-made cheese pizza and heat it up. meanwhile, one person at our table got their sandwich and was the only one eating. awkward, and very disappointing. the place has a funky artsy feel, which is fun, i just wish the workers there had customer service skills to match.

best of the best. we always go mid afternoon, to grinders west, and there is never a crowd. service is spectacular - the wait service staff is friendly and prompt, then again, timing is everything - those that complain, pick another time. the food, the food, oh my, where to start. every sandwich i have had has rocked my world, they are that good. the reuben, the philly (pepperjax grill owes you $5.00) is outstanding. everything, every time, excellent. once, the waitress brought the wrong change, it was her first day. and another, it took longer than i wanted to get my check, but i am not perfect either. i'll be back, no question about it.

pretty neat place however i thought the food was very average? i have only tried it once and will give it another shot based on how popular it is? i hope to find out it's not all hype?

tracy. tracy took such good care of us last night. i really needed a place to chill with my husband. we had great beer, food and great service from tracy. like to go to a place where people remember your name, what you like to eat and drink? go to grinders and ask for tracy! she is the bomb!

captain of everything. i think that grinders makes me love the life i live. i work all day and am ready to relax and have a good time with good food and friends! well, how nice is it to show up to a place where they know who you are, know what you like and make you feel at home! megan is the best and super hot and should be the face of grinders! she makes sure our drinks are always full! tracy is super hot too and is always so shiny! she always knows what drinks we want and makes awesome shots! thaddeus, makes the most amazing cheeseburger and is super cool! i wish i could hire him as my personal chef...what i really wanted to say is....his cheeseburgers make you want to piss yourself and i want to take him home to be my cabana boy! when i win the lottery megan, tracy and thaddeus will come live with us!

best philly cheesesteaks in town. my wife loves their pizza. it’s sort of the big sliced thin new york style pizza. overall good place to eat.

this place gets a 5 for the atmosphere. a 1.5 for the decor. this place has always been crowded and unique, i can see why because the food is very rare to find prepared like this. i really enjoyed this place because it is cool 😎 i will recommend to everybody who is ever in this area. dont be scared to try something new even if it means that you are in an unfamiliar territory.

good place. still...cheesesteaks are not as good as philly but they are decent. their death hot sauce is made from ghost pepper extract. took me a good 15-20 minutes to recover!

the perfect place to grab a quick bite to eat. great outdoor patio area. can be very busy depending on time of day but wait is never too long.
