tracy. tracy took such good care of us last night. i really needed a place to chill with my husband. we had great beer, food and great service from tracy. like to go to a place where people remember your name, what you like to eat and drink? go to grinders and ask for tracy! she is the bomb!

captain of everything. i think that grinders makes melovethe life i live. i work all day and am ready to relax and have a good time with good food and friends! well, how nice is it to show up to a place where they know who you are, know what you like and make you feel at home! megan is the best and super hot and should be the face of grinders! she makes sure our drinks are always full! tracy is super hot too and is always so shiny! she always knows what drinks we want and makes awesome shots! thaddeus, makes the most amazing cheeseburger and is super cool! i wish i could hire him as my personal chef...what i really wanted to say is....his cheeseburgers make you want to piss yourself and i want to take him home to be my cabana boy! when i win the lottery megan, tracy and thaddeus will come live with us!

philly cheese steaks are incredible. i'm onions and whiz. beer selection is huge. ilovethe different specialty pizzas. i've tried most of them and i haven't found one i didn't like. some are out there like the bengal tiger with tandoori chicken and the goldberg phats with smoked salmon. my fav is the le hog. go eat here. you'll come back.

there's enough to make a veggie meal!. grinders has a lot of selections on their menu, which is great if you're a vegetarian. you can make a meal out of the crazy bread, s pretzel, and a salad. it's not vegan-friendly, but is anything ever?

the food is amazing. i especiallylovethe hummus and the pretzels and i get them both every visit. the pizza is good too, and it's a lot of fun to watch the cooks make it behind the bar.

the beer selection is extensive. the prices are a little more than farther downtown, but not overwhelmingly so. as well, they have specials and such that make a drink easy on the wallet.

one of the best aspects of grinders it the decor. it's very, very busy so don't visit if too much visual stimulation ruins your night. otherwise, it's a trip to see hundreds of signatures on the walls and artwork everywhere.

the service is always great. even when the servers are busy they check up on you periodically. i've never had to wait too long at grinders, which is nice when i'm hungry.

ultimately, grinders is one of my favorite diners in kansas city. ilovethe food and the little flaws (busy, loud, etc.) aren't that big of a deal. the food more than makes up for them.

featured on food network's "diners, drive-ins and dives," grinders in crossroads district is known for it's large outdoor patio space, great sandwiches and eclectic atmosphere. the aforementioned items drew me in for quick lunch on a friday afternoon last week.  unfortunately, i was in for a looooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnggg ride. after finding a table outside, i was hard pressed to find something i didn't want to eat on the menu. it all looked amazing. hot wings, chili cheese tater tot pizza, philly cheese steak sandwiches - a girl could fall in love! however, thelovestarted to die as i waited and waited and waited for my order to be taken, a drink, a scrap of food to be thrown my way... anything .  after an hour, my lunch was finally brought out.  i couldn't go to a place called grinders and not order a grinder. needless to say, it was delicious.  melty mozzarella cheese, red sauce and big ol' italian meatballs make up this sandwich. i dare you to take this thing head on - no side b

great food, lousy service.. ilovethe food here, it is absolutely amazing and i reccomend it highly. there is no better place to get a philly cheese steak in kansas city. however, the service sucks, the wait is too long so i would reccomend calling in your order to go and then picking it up.

fun factor for ultra casual - but terrible food. don't go here with high expectations, this is fun and very urban in a sidewalk style. ilovethe people if you are looking for local artsy culture. this is an awesome place for bands and to hang out with the arts culture in crossroads kc. food is not recommended.

maybe next time. i know, i said " likes it." for ambiance and service, i do. but the food really let me down. for starters, i ordered an iced tea. the server did not ask me the typical, "sweet or unsweet" so, i assumed unsweet. wrong! i got a big ol' gulp of, "would you like some tea with your sugar" moving on. we ordered the crab rangoon appetizer. we were off to a good start. warm, creamy and tasted like real crab! what a concept. we both ordered the philly cheesesteak with all the fixin's. my lunch date ordered it with both provolone and the traditional cheese whiz and i with only the provolone. for both of us the meat was really dry and lacked flavor. however, it helped his to have the whiz. on mine the meat was all glued together and stuck to the bun by a clump of provolone cheese. the peppers, onions and mushrooms had barely been sautéed. honestly, the mushrooms were raw and therefore spongy. not the caramelized onions and juicy 'shrooms i'm looking for on a philly. we also ordered fries and smoked gouda potato casserole. smoked cheese and potatoes - how can you go wrong? the casserole just wasn't a casserole in my opinion. thick sliced potatoes that were not cooked all the way through covered in a creamy béchamel-type sauce that only had a hint of smoke to it served in a bowl with some scallions on top. and, unfortunately, it was cold. to me, a casserole is baked so my hopes of warm, bubbly, smoky cheese were let down. okay, enough! there were many other interesting things on the menu. and the rave seems to be about the pizza. also, i saw a fried goat cheese pizza walk by that looked fabulous. obviously, many people who eat hereloveit. so, maybe it was an off day or maybe we ordered the wrong thing. i will definitely give it another try. the atmosphere is fun and that alone was worth the visit.

chesesteak heaven. best chesesteak i have ever had (have not been to pat's or geno's) fries are great too. we were really dissapionted in the breakfast. they had a really exciting "create your own omelete" menu with an amazing assortment of choices. my daughter ordered shrimp and bacon. after 15 minutes we were informed that they were out of shrimp. no big deal, my daughter is a extreme bacon lover so she ordered double bacon. we had no clue that the bacon was marinaded/cooked in a ton of brown sugar. it wrecked the savory salty pleasure of bacon into a diabetic nightmare that would give you a cavity with a single smell. we told this to our waitress and all she did was rave about how proud they were of the bacon. that's fair. some people, maybe even most people mayloveit. we just wish we had a clue before we ordered.

try the bengal tiger pizza, it is worth the wait, if you want better service, don't go during the luch hour or during an "event". grinders is really the best food for the buck. ilovethe atmosphere. the philies are authentic and the best in the region. pizzas are all superb. my favorite spot in kansas city or almost anywhere.
