gloria's latin cuisine

i tried their recent addition of nancy's ribeye. a medium rare ribeye, fried plantain, yucca, green beans, and chimichurri. i added a pork and cheese pupusa to the entrèe.

everything worked well. the steak was cooked just right and the flavor of all the sides didn't dominate each other. i really enjoyed the slight sweetness of the plantain with the savoriness of the ribeye.

i should have tacked on another pupusa because although simple in preparation, it added a lot of kick to the whole dish.

definitely aplaceto visit if i'm back in the dfw area again.

also, their frozen margaritas are was excellent.

review of gloria's restaurant in addison, tx. this is a review on the gloria's restaurant located in addison, tx just in case this get's tagged to other locations. if i could give this restaurant & location no stars, i would. i first went to this location a few years ago to celebrate my birthday with a group of friends. i had checked their website and related links to make sure of dress code and any other important info and nowhere on their website did it say people under 21 yrs were not allowed after 10pm. it did however mention no kids allowed after 10pm as restaurant turns into dance club. we had one girl in our group that was 19 years so i even called the location before leaving to make sure she would be allowed in during the time they have dancing. the lady i spoke with told me she would be okay but after driving an hour to this gloria's, we were told by the bouncer and manager they did not allow anyone under 21 yrs. i explained to manager the situation but he would not be considerate or offer any compensation and could only say he was sorry. this was in such poor tast and very poor customer service. fast foward a couple years later, 2 of my friends were strolling around the shopping area where gloria's is in deciding where we should go for dancing. my friend was set on going dancing and i suggested gloria's as i new they turned their restaurant into a dance floor. i figured it had been a few years and hoping things might have changed since. we got past the bouncers and security and paid our 10 dollar cover charge to the lady in atrium. i got the impression she was looking down her nose at us from her body language. i paid with a debit/credit and my friends paid in cash. after having paid we went to the hostess for a table but were told that she couldplaceus on the waiting list but could not gaurantee us a table since kitchen was about to close in about half an hour. i have never been in a restaurant where they did not gaurantee tables unless it was actually at posted closing time, dance floor or not. the lady acted like we should know this and was rude about it. we decided we did not want to stay if we couldn't be quaranteed a table and we had planed to eat first then dance. so, on our way out, i asked for a refund and the lady pushed a 10 dollars bill in my face. i explained to her i had paid with debit/credit and was told she cannot refund to my debit/credit and was why she gave me cash because they would still be charging my debit/credit. again, i have never known an establishment, to refund in any other method than the method of payment you used for that purchase. i have had them ask if they could but never been forced to do so. she didn't even bother to consult a manager when i asked if i could have my debit/credit be refunded instead. *sight* this being said, i will never go to this gloria's restaurant in addison. this was such an unpleasant experience both times with such ungracious and uncourteous staff. the manager indicates he expects their guests to be courteous and respectfull on their website but should also expect the same from their staff.

great. thisplaceis great, the bean dip is something i have been searching for since i left. late night it gets interesting with the salas club. a hot spot for sure that you are truly missing out if you have not been by.

chips...meh. salsa is good. food was average. what is the best about thisplaceis the live band and dancing! have a meltdown and let the dancing begin!

great food!. a word of advice up front: if you have a large party and are planning on going on the weekend, get there early and make sure everyone in your party is there on time. they won't seat you if your party is incomplete, i don't blame them. also, the restaurant gets converted into the salsa club at 10pm so all the tables get pushed out of the way to make room for dancing.

that said,,, as a restaurant i think the food is really good. everything is very fresh and although some of it can be a little heavy, i find that it's much lighter than most tex mex chains out there. the salsa and black bean dip are great, no need for appetizers here. i love the enchiladas, tacos and the fajitas. i tried the quail once but it was a pain to eat,,, not the restaurant's fault, its just quail requires alot of work for very little payoff.

everyone rants and raves about the margaritas here but i'm not really sure why. i mean yeah they are strong but i didn't find them very flavorful. the different flavored frozen margaritas are simply the house margaritas shaken with a fruit puree so my review is the same for those as well. but if you want to get a buzz going rather quickly order up a couple of these and you're good to go.

overall, i've always had a wonderful experience with the food and the staff here. theplaceis jumping on the weekends so you have to be patient,,, but i would say that they are busy for a reason.

not impressed. the quail was forgettable, thisplaceis over hyped and i don't know why.

best mojito in town!. their margaritas are also amazing but like someone else wrote, pretty strong so watch out!, great bean dip and salsa so it's the perfectplacefor after work drinks,
