we used to eat at this restaurant once every 2 weeks. the sushi chef had personality, the fish was very fresh, and they had inventive nigiri and sashimi. there has been a high turnover of sushi chefs and the quality has gone downhill fast. the sushi chef hates his job and lets you know it. no eye contact or conversation and starts to close his counter at 8pm even though the restaurant is packed and open until 10:30. he takes the fish off of the plates and literally throws it on the case shelf. is that hygienic, don't think the case shelf was meant to have fish on it. really don't want to order fish from a chef washing dishes. the roll chef makes very sloppy rolls and his knife is so dull he has to saw through the roll when he cuts. the fish is no longerfreshbut mushy. the scallions were olive colored instead of bright green. there is no variety of fish or inventiveness in what they do have.
i feel bad for visitors who eat here. go to nishino, shiro's or kashiba. you can order very good nigiri and sashimi at japonessa. thank goodness one is opening in bellevue in august under sushi chef masa-san.

we loved it because they had both greatfreshraw fish and delicious cook food. it made an easy meeting spot with friends as we could easily find a dish for everyone. dh’s default was sushi deluxe. their fish and seafood werefreshand seasonal raw fish were offer nightly. the portion was generous. my favorite fish in ginza was their saba, mackerel. saba was not on the top of my all time favorite sushi/sashimi fish, but ginza’s one was. i had encountered a lot of saba being overlooked in sushi places, often resulting in dry and mealy texture, or overly sour from vinegar. ginza’s saba was oily, moist and delicious.

i have gone to ginza on main street a couple times, after their remodel, and the fish there is quite good. the menu at ginza is quite vast and the sushi selection includes many sushi rookie favorable items. actually, the first time i ate there with my family, i don't think i had sushi. i should mention that several tables have heating elements so you can order the "table side grill" thing. not my thing. anyway, not bad for a neighborhood japanese restaurant. their pricing is a little on the higher side compared to some of their neighboring japanese/sushi places. sushi is quite good, stick to the normal negiri, be brave and go for the chef's selection. also, take note, one thing i really enjoy at ginza is the protein salad. this combination of pickled andfreshvegetable, seaweed, broiled salmon skin and tobiko...delicious

best japanese eastside. we have eaten here now three times, and each time is better than the last. our experience here is no fluke. arguably the best overall japanese cuisine in the eastside area. restaurant is exceptionally clean, and the aromas are enticing. the wait staff are all prompt and courteous. if you arrive with a group and no reservation, you may be in for a wait, as the seating is modest. they do have a number of private rooms, but we've not tried to reserve one.
the menu is broad and varied and you'll find all the typical japanese fare. our several first hand experiences with many different items from the sushi/sashimi menu underscore the absolute freshness of their offerings. the presentation is excellent and portion sizes are ample if not large. the deep fried oysters are in a word, superb---lightly coated w/ panko and fried infreshhot oil; not greasy; the briny oyster flavor is incredibly fresh.
i could go on and on with positive comments about other menu items, but the one item that deserves special note is their pumpkin fried rice. this is their specialty. it is a deliciously seasoned fried rice w/ bacon bits, served in a beautifully cooked kabocha squash (japanese pumpkin). one of these will serve 4 persons as a side, easily. the kabocha is tender and has absorbed the flavors of the fried rice while they cook together...absolutely yummy! be sure to place your order for this as soon as you can, as it takes awhile to prepare.

love it!. my husband and i come here once a week. this definitely our regular sushi place. the sushi isfreshand creative and delicious! it always comes with a cucumber starter and chilled fruit for dessert. it's a great meal and very enjoyable place. the regular hot food menu is also delicious. don't expect a quick meal out this place though, the food often takes a quite a while to come out. regardless the staff is attentive and polite. would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for good food!
