gino's restaurant

very nice evening at gino's .... difficult to believe the (few) bad reviews.... eight of us received excellentserviceeven though it was prom night .... told a veal marsala dish was very sicilian so most of us ordered it wanting to experience the culture -- it was very very good and the portions were so much each one of us left with a carry out bag. there is very little parking space - a few spaces and front and the main parking, though small, is in the back. the dining rooms are crowded and loud enough so that speaking to someone across the table from you was difficult to hear - or it was for me.... but we still talked -- a group of 8 ladies will find a way. it was very good and will return.

pass. just to start the hostess said "i can seat you, but you have to be out by 8:15 as i have a reservation". we should of walked out at that point. this restaurant was highly recommended by a few people i know and maybe i had high expectations, but everything about this place was underwhelming. the spaghetti was undercooked, the sauce was bland and the food was just a pool value for the money. on the other hand, theservicewas very good. i don't blame the waiter for the food, but the food wasn't good. i wouldn't come back to this restaurant.

very disappointing. i have had many wonderful meals at gino's through the years. we had dinner there last night and were so disappointed. we did have a large table of 12 so were seated in the back room near kitchen.servicewas terrible... took forever to order and receive our drinks, appetizers, etc. the waiter's first words to us were," there will be no substitutions tonight"... then proceeds to tell us of several items they are out of and it was only 7:15... finally our entrees came out except one at our table had to wait at least 10 minutes for his entree, very awkward bc. we all felt uncomfortable eating before him yet he insisted we begin so our food would not get cold. as i said earlier, we've enjoyed many fine meals here but have heard of other diner's experiences lately and hoping this does not become a pattern.

haven't been in a while and brought the family for a night out.servicewas great and atmosphere was good as i remembered. food was good, but portions seemed a lot smaller than i remembered on the veal dishes. seemed like kid portions to everyone at the table. friends of ours just went and have been going for years and said the same thing.

good italiano food!. when it comes to italian food i am very tickey about how the sauce, or gravey, taste, and the different types of noodles used. this is one of the best italian restaurants i have eaten at in awhile. i love their meat sauce and also their home made salads. their meatballs are cook just right with the right blend of celery, onion, cheese, meat, rosemary, and garlic. their spaghetti is amazingly great. my wife's favorite is the eggplant parmesan. it is great too. i often get this dish with the yummy egg plant, meat, cheese, and tomato slices. also, the veal cutlets are another great dish to try if you want something different. love their bread and whipped butter, and theserviceand staff are super friendly and nice. prices are also very good for the amount of food a person receives. i enjoy taking friends here that have never eaten at this place. it is a great place for families too. try it out next time your in baton rouge.

great italian. gino's has to be the best italian restaraunt in baton rouge. great food,serviceand atmosphere. gino's has been cooking great italian food in br for many years. try the arancini as an appetizer, and the specials are always good.
