it's about a hidden gem in kolkata.
❤️ resturant: ginkgo (kolkata)
we tried:
✴️cheese, spinach and water chestnut dimsum withchillioil - it's simply a showstopper. won my heart with it's unique and cheesy taste. a must have for cheese lovers. also we got to know that they make this black colour with squid ink.❤️
✴️manipuri style spicy noodle soup pork- it is having garlic tossed noodles with spicy tangy broth and that too served with roasted pork and prawn chips. here comes the quality of pork, in one word it is just awesome but a foodie like me would be happier if they get little more pork with the noodles may be 😋. the quantity of noodles was enough for two. broth was yummy.
✴️ginkgo style chili pork with scallions- as always they nailed it. quantity was ok as a starter for two. quality was top notch👌
✴️bok choy wrapped fish- freshness of bok choy with fish ,created a unique taste and it served with little bit of in house sweet and sour sauce. fish was tender and fresh.
i must say all the dishes were affordable and worth to try again and again.

the friendly and cozy environment made a evening to be remembered. i am looking forward to visit this place once again.

ginkgo kolkata ,being kolkata's most pocket friendly cafe😍😍

🟠location: just opposite to south city mall

two things wanna highlight about ginkgo are great pan asian food and very much affordable pocket pinch.

also in ginkgo, you can get not only variety of pan asian dishes but also some unique dishes to other places in kolkata.

from their menu, had tried-

pokchoy wrapped chicken- rs.97,
darjeeling style chicken steam momo- rs.107,
cheese, spinach, water chestnut dimsums(black one)- rs.116,
fish dumpling with red hotchillioil(pink one)- rs.113,
cfc fried chicken bao- rs.137,
ginkgo stylechillichicken with scallion- rs.157,
spicy lemon basil noodles(chicken)- rs.117,
chilli chicken.

pokchoy wrapped chicken is not only droolsome by its look, but a must try dish from ginkgo. chicken slices wrapped with pokchoy leaves and then sautéed in a gravy rich with garlic- awesome.

darjeeling style chicken steam momo is our regular steam momo but more soft and larger than usual size.

cheese, spinach, water chestnut dimsums are black ones in photo, even if you are not a veg lover- you still should try it, soft juicy and tasteful; also try to have this with their black bean sauce to enhance the flavours.

fish dumpling with red hotchillioil is another showstopper, pink dumplings with soft fish filling in it and then dipping it in red hotchillioil- taste at its best.

cfc fried chicken bao, where the patty was not at all dry and the bao is fully loaded with bao, mayonnaise and fresh lettuce.

ginkgo stylechillichicken with scallion is perfect for munching specially when you are waiting for your main course to arrive. here chicken was tossed in a sauce with full of bell peppers, onions and spring onions.

spicy lemon basil noodles is different from regular noodles, thin noodles with chicken and veggies and a beautiful aroma of lemon- all the flavours are complementing each other perfectly.

so if you want to have asian food that too in a cozy place at real good pocket pinch then make ginkgo your usual hang out place just like me.

asian and american food gone pocket friendly at gingko restaurant, right opposite to south city mall.

imagine spending a long enjoyable day at south city and suddenly, you are cash strapped and cannot have a proper dinner. now imagine a place that serves up some really innovative flavours and yet has a pocket pinch of ₹300 for 2.

with comfortable seating for around 15 people, the ambience resembles an asian getaway place with the flute being played to give a serene feeling. the entire place has a calm, soothing vibe, with a huge buddha mural on one wall.

coming to the food that was served, the dumplings, momos and dimsums had terrific variations to it. darjeeling style chicken momo, cheese-spinach-water chestut dimsums and fish dumpling with red hotchillioil were the variants under which all of them are must tries.

besides that, there were other crowd favorites like the gfc fried chicken bao, pok choy wrapped chicken and noodles.

a must try affordable place for everyone.

simply horrible. please refund my money. it was complete waste of money. soggy dimsums with bad prawn fillings. prawn salt and pepper too salty, hot, and peppery.chillichicken was too salty too. and fried rice didn’t taste good either.

the price says it all..chillifish without the taste of fish or even fish in it. the batter was all we got. ordered bao, which was still ok. manipuri spicy noodles was too spicy to taste. overall not a good experience

a hidden gem, enjoy the best of pan-asian at unbelievable prices.!

the beckoning of a glutton, the curiosity of a wanderer, and a kitchen underrated for producing hands on some of the best pan asian and oriental delicacies in the city of kolkata, so much so that when you compare from the point of pricing, you wouldn't find it hard to decide on a clear winner. ginkgo, a hidden gem will woe you with its flavours and entice you with their stunning flavour profiles.

their stunning range of colours used in their wide range of dimsum come from from all natural extracts; combine the melting goodness with a dash of the hotchillioil or even with the sweet peanut sauce and you shall have a melange of flavours enriching you with a satisfaction like never before. a small food joint but packs a punch like a big monster, gingko is that surprise you would want to surprise your partner with.

start with the cheese, spinach & water chestnut dimsum. loaded with cream cheese, water chestnut and spinach, enjoy this deliciousness with their specialchillioil. the fish dumpling comes with a filling of scallions, ginger and soya sauce. encased in a pink wrapping, probably extracted naturally from a beetroot, enjoy the chunks of fish melting in your mouth combined with the goodness of thechillioil.

a classic from guangzhou china, the prawn hargao, with the outside made out of tapioca and wheat starch, and the inside filled with bamboo shoots, finely chopped shrimps and sesame oil, prawn hargao remains a quintessential part of any dimsum feast you may wish to sink your teeth in. roasted barbeque pork bao had roasted pork along with wasabi kimchi garlic mayo put together between two soft buns.

feast on their ginkgo stylechillipork with scallions having roasted pork mixed with spices, fresh chilli, seasoning, soy, capsicum and leeks. some sweet and spicy cyanne pepper hot sauce mixed american highway styled buffalo chicken wings, and we quickly made our way to the mains. with mains equally as good as the starters, it was a tough choice to decide on the winner.

thai styled chicken fried rice and lemon egg basil noodles paired up with an exciting and aggressive fish inchillioyster sauce and a relatively mild chicken with roasted peanuts in drychillikung pao sauce. fantastic balance of flavours, neither of the gravy dishes too overpowering, balancing perfectly with the rice and the noodles dish, ginkgo truly displayed it's class and proved why they are what they are! a must try, these are flavours that will surely make you come back for more.

ordered from here for the first time.they really listen to the instructions and provide accordingly.
the place being a bit far away from my place resulted in absolutely cold dumplings but the soup was warm still.the soup was just corn and no other vegetables, was okayish.
the spinach dumplings were good but theirchillioil which i received had green chillies too and was way tooo spicy! quantity is good for the price.would be better to have at the restaurant.

my husband ordered buffalo chicken wings, spaghetti pasta with chicken, thai basil fried rice with chicken, fish dumplings with redchillioil for my birthday. and i can't complain. it was an amazing experience with this food. especially the dumplings and a special shoutout to thechillioil that comes with it because thechillioil was flavoursome. it complimented the dumplings in the best way. as for the buffalo chicken wings, the sauce tasted like heaven. the spaghetti was al dante. and just with the right amount of sauce coating, neither too dry nor too saucy. the thai basil fried rice was different to what the rest of the restaurants serve. what took me by surprise was the perfection on both the oriental and continental cuisine which is otherwise a rare event in other places. i loved the food. will keep ordering.

i ordered the spinach cheese dimsums and gfc fried chicken bao. the dimsums were surprisingly tasty and paired with thechilligarlic oil that was served were quite delectable. the deep black colour wrapper gave it an attractive look but the only flaw was that the wrapper was a tad too thick. the fried chicken baos were also quite delicious filled with lots of chipotle mayo which went well with the fried chicken strips. however the wasabi flavour was missing which made the bao taste more american than asian. overall great food and kudos for eco friendly packaging.

i had ordered tibetan style pork momos and darjeeling style steamed chicken momos. i loved the pork momos and found the covering thin and generous filling of juicy pork inside the momos with a side tomatochilligarlic sauce, which is quite unique. it is better than many restaurants serving pork momos in kolkata.
the chicken momos could have been better had the covering been not so thick. taste was good and it came with a different side sauce (which tasted very similar to hummus). the packaging was safe and secure and it came with wooden spoon and a fork inside. quite a happy satiated evening snack it was. thank you ginkgo. keep it up! 👍🏻❤️
