the food is very nice in this place. i went with my friends. tried the traditional thali with chicken curry which was awesome and quantity was also very good. the restaurant is nicely decored and gives a traditional feel. service was fast and rates are also reasonable. we paid 692 for three which doesnt pinch your pocket. noticeably the thali was also served with tasty sweet dish at the end. overall the food gives you a kick and makes you visit this place again and again.

eating assamese cuisine being an assamese can be considered as identity crisis but when you go to gams delicacy the scenario is changed completely. located on the outskirts of the city the best part is that there is ample place for parking the that the restaurant itself is huge. decorated in a very ethnic fashion with bamboo poles the place is very pretty to look at. the sitting areas and tables are very spacious and you dont get the cramped feeling of a city restaurant. coming to the food the paror jool (pigeon curry) is heavenly and is a must have as is the kumurai di bonua hah (duck prepared with gourd). although there is an array of chinese and north indian dishes available these are to be avoided if possible. if you love assamese cuisine the place is one of the best in the city. the meals can be ended with payosh (rice pudding) which increases the assamese feeling of the whole place. so whenever you are in the need to show off your tradition in cuisine to your out of town friends take them to gams delicacy

being born and brought up in guwahati, i have a special affinity to everything assamese...my last visit to guwahati ended on a delectable note with the discovery of this fantastic restaurant in the bustling area of beltola...
food: i can give a full 5 on 5 for the variety and the taste of food they serve...absolutely authentic taste from the villages of upper and lower assam...be in kukura kumura (chicken with pumpkin), or pork in bamboo shoot...be in khaar tenga or aloo pitika...be in maasor tenga (fish in a sour tomato based stew) or maati daali (assamese lentils)...the menu can floor your taste buds with all...the only lacuna in the menu was the dessert section...which i feel should incorporate more of local assamese pithas (like narikol ladu, teel mitha, ghila pitha etc...)....
decor: simple and sober...beautifully decorated with bamboo work...the shades of khaki n ochre yellow with green coasters on the table give it a very ethnic look...kindly keep up the same standards in ur washrooms too!!!...
service: was good...not great though...but pardonable considering the rush hour...
in short...an amazing place to baptise ur taste buds with local authentic assamese food...ekdom chhaliya!!!!

this branch of gams is located away from the city and on the highway. so driving here takes time and you need to brave the highway traffic too.

however, the wide space, open seating, easy parking more than make up for the effort. so its a lovely place to go on a weekend afternoon. we also used to stop here for lunch on our way to the airport. and they are very popular among the new office complexes that have opened on the highway.

the food is as good as what they serve at their original location, so you can rest assured that whatever you order will taste great.

pork patot diya and the simple pork fried with turmeric, potatoes and onions are my favourites. their ari fish is also extremely fresh and tasty always.
