my husband and i had read reviews and decided to try frankie bones for lunch during our hh visit. loved the decor frankie and dean are everwhere. even though menu is more italian/american, i really wanted shrimp, they were wonderful large and fresh, skinny little fries and coleslaw very tasty. my husband had the roast beef sandwich with dip very tasty. the bread and butter are to die for. service was excellent. we will gobackon next visit.

better meet elsewhere :). i know this is an island fav, but i have had steaks or prime rib twice had to send it back. the meet was tough and not fitting for the name of the restaurant. on the fist occasion i ordered prime rib and sent itbackas it was tough. the second piece was no better. finally the chef came out and discussed the matter he brought me a strip steak which was also way off. there are far better places to get beef than fb. i have a friend who goes there for the fish....maybe that the solution as the drinks and service are very good.

use your good sense. this a good restaurant. perhaps one weakness is a too large menu (always gordon ramsey's comment on such places), which always means more pre-prepared food than any quality venue should keep on hand, meaning you are going to get some inconsistency in quality and efficiency. the bottom line is, ask about the better dishes with the staff, and understand you are never going to get world class steak or prime rib unless you go to a 4 star prime steak house like the sage room $$$$, and fb is not that. the food is authentic nyc spagetti and meatballs which are excellent southern italian style, good local flair with lobster mac, salads are excellent, spagetti squash vegi pasta is my wife's fav meal on the island, fresh bread is good, portions are very good. look for the things that aren't everywhere else, and you are probably picking out their best selections. our favorite thing here is a very fast 15min call-in/pick-up service, as we prefer to eat on our porch looking at the surf with our own bottle of wine and no crowd or seating issues to deal with. thebackroom should be converted to booths like the front, i agree it's a buzzkill to be seated there with the family style bright lighting and uncomfortable wooden chairs, so get there early enough to get a nice booth in the front side.

back again on the same trip. with all the wonderful restaurants on hilton head island, it takes really great food to get me to comebacka second time on the same trip! my wife already posted a review for brunch, and let me tell you that their corned beef hash is unbelievable. large bites of whole corned beef, perfectly seasoned and mixed with freshly cooked cubes of potatoes. my plate was also quite good, schnitzel, but honestly i spent brunch staring at the hash. she shared, out of self defense.

turns out that was just the teaser. i had to gobackon another day to taste their famous marinated rib-eye. oh my goodness. i cut it in smaller and smaller pieces because i wanted it to last forever. my wife had the thursday special, meatloaf smothered in brown gravy with mushrooms. this time my steak kept my full attention, but i have a friend in town who always goes for the meatloaf on thursday. now i know why. great service. a most enjoyable experience. i have two more days here. wonder if i should go just one more time....

firsy year, had broiled fish and did not like it; wentbacknext time and ordered the filet mignon and it was delicious. the service was fine and the atmosphere is very neat. my husband and i look forward to going back; update: third year to try frankie bones and i ordered the lobster mac and cheese. lobster was great, but i thought the pasta sauce should've been creamier. the creme brulee was delicious. the bread here is amazing with the whipped butter!

highly recommended. it can be a challenge to find a restaurant on hhi that is appropriate for a young family without incurring loooong wait times and/or compromising on food quality. frankie bones is the answer. the first thing you notice upon entering the restaurant is the old school rat pack theme. very cool. we were greeted by our waitress, adrie, who proved to be quite pleasant and a skilled server. she walked us through the extensive menu. everything sounded delicious (i'd love to gobackand try other entrees on this trip), but we settled on the spinach & artichoke dip (tasty!), shrimp scampi, saltimbocca, children's filet, and kids pizzas. everyone loved their meals and left feeling quite full.

this place is a must for visitors to hhi!

will goback-for steaks. hubby and i tried the coffee rubbed ribeye (delish) and the lobster mac and tasted each others (too bad for me becuase he didnt' like the lobster mac at all!). i wouldn't order the mac again as it was just too much pasta for my liking..kind of dry actually.. had expected it to be creamier. another in our party had prime rib and it looked awesome and he said it was up there with the best he'd ever had. the service was very, very slow in every regard but we'd likely gobackfor prime rib or steak.

my wife, ten year old son, and i have been to frankie bones twice. our first visit was for the sunday brunch which we greatly enjoyed. we sat in a booth in the main dining area and sipped on a few fabulous bloody marys while watching the world cup tourney. the filet mignon hash was okay but was more soupy than hash-like. my wife's dish (can't recall but it was a special) was just okay .... portions were very large. ambiance was great and the service was a 9/10. the second visit we made as a group was less positive. because our son was with us, they sat us in thebackroom with harsh bright lighting. we soon discovered that this was the "kids' room" as other families with kids were put here too. the hardwood paneling reflected the sound all around us and we couldn't wait to get out of there. food again wasn't bad but not great. recommendation: if your kids are well-behaved, insist on a booth in the front room, otherwise pass. if you're there for s quiet, fun drink or two, come early and sit at the bar. by 5pm, it really gets cranking.

wonderful. today was my birthday and i chose frankie bones based on information on urbanspoon. you have to rely on others opinions which, as with anything, can be a gamble.

we were seated a little late but after that, everything was perfect. our waiter, michael, had a great personality and made recommendations that were right on.

the signature dish, lobster mac n cheese......wow. the pieces of lobster were huge. that and the tomatoe mozz salad were a perfect birthday dinner.

to top off the food, great wine and a tasty desert.

service (waiter), follow up on late seating (mangement), and food made this a place that i will definitely make a trip to gobackto. and with a second location in ashville nc (i live in charlotte nc), i'll make sure to make that second visit soon.

i highly recommend frankie bones.

stepbackin time to the rat pack era.... i have 3 words that describe pure bliss... lobster mac 'n cheese. yes, it is rich and yes, it is decadent but it is a must try. trust me on this! frankie bones also has the only revolving door on hilton head. the decor is sinatra swank and rat pack tunes. explore the classic drink menu while you are there.
