food is great but noise level not suitable for cost of meal. also, why go to a restaurant with no windows when you are surrounded by sunshine and blue skys?

if you live in the bluffton/hilton head area, you must go to frankie bones. it has such a great environment that feels cozy & welcoming but also has that lure of being a appropriate for special occasions. the bar is pretty swanky—in a not ostentatious way, of course.

disappointing visit.. we arrived 20 minutes early. our table was not yet ready, but the hostess seated us next to a noisy family with an active child. this was not the atmosphere we had hoped for. the food was disappointing, especially for the price. we had the calamari appetizer which was under-seasoned and rubbery and included only rings. my wife had eggplant parmigiana which consisted of 2 excessively thick, undercooked slices of eggplant. these were covered with cheese and sauce and plated on spaghetti. i had the lobster mac and cheese. the cheese sauce arrived in liquid form although it thickened as it cooled and i repeatedly tossed the pasta. this should have been done before serving the dish. i would neither recommend nor return to this restaurant.

a great place. love the bloody mary with the natty lite beer back! the bloody is superb (i think they use zing zang)! food is always great. service is usually a 9 out of 10. music is cool. the only downside is the aged crowd that bombards this place. night of the living dead!

avoid at dinner rush!. the food is always good, but if you are looking for a leisure dinning experience is best if you avoid the evenings when there is a large crowd. the food maybe good but the wait-staff can be the rudest i have ever experienced…including the waiters at the carnegie deli in nyc.

the food was excellent and there was an wide variety in food styles on the menu to please all palettes. the service was friendly and consistent. portions were very large, even the lunch portions. the atmosphere was fun and family friendly. an excellent. restaurant all around. i would highly recommend it!

disappointing. we've been to frankie bones five or so times on visits to the island. this year it was just so-so. we had to wait 15 mins past our reservation time. the apps - spinach dip and fried green tomatoes - were very good. but that was about it. the prime rib was tough. seems impossible but true. the pasta dish tasted "like cafeteria food." i had the chicken parmesan which was a large serving but nothing special. one in our party was very happy with the chicken marsala (fairly small portion). service was incredibly slow, inattentive, and amateurish for a restaurant of this calibre. in summation, it's off our hhi list.

dissapointing. let's see... good food, but small portions for the price you pay. server seemed bored and distant and came around maybe four times over an hour and a half. not worth the price in my mind, but probably one of the better options in the hhi area for fine dining.

mixed.. we had some great steaks here, but the appetizers were, frankly (no pun intended) mediocre. we tried the meatballs and the calamari for appetizers and they reminded me of something you'd get at costco. no offense meant to costco. i like costco. that said, we all agreed the entrees were very good. my advice: skip the appetizers, just order the steak.

hear a lot about this place and just don't get it. pointlessly huge menu with overpriced, uninspired dishes. appears to be mostly "brought in" items neatly arranged on giant plates in a dimmly lit environment. it does have a cool bar so that helped. it won't be in the rotation as far as places i frequent.

wow, what a great meal. went there at the recommendation of a friend. good pick! food was excellent, service was great, and the setting was cozy. highly recommended!

will go back -for steaks. hubby and i tried the coffee rubbed ribeye (delish) and the lobster mac and tasted each others (too bad for me becuase he didnt' like the lobster mac at all!). i wouldn't order the mac again as it was just too much pasta for my liking..kind of dry actually.. had expected it to be creamier. another in our party had prime rib and it looked awesome and he said it was up there with the best he'd ever had. the service was very, very slow in every regard but we'd likely go back for prime rib or steak.

a must while on the island!. this was the best meal i had on hilton head, and the only meal in which my family and i all enjoyed. highly recommend
