service is very good and staff are very attentive. favorite place that we regular visit.

fourteen on chartwell is a great littlerestaurantin umhlanga. the place has an excellent vibe and amazing service from the staff. i tried the lobster mac n cheese and it was excellent though i wished there was more lobster for the price. the gin and tonics are great with unusual flavours. a bit pricey but definitely worth a visit for a night out. will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.

if you’re looking for a place for fine-dining with a localized twist & an amazing culinary experience then 14 on chartwell should definitely be ticked off on your bucket list. they are situated on chartwell drive, umhlanga, durban, south africa. 14 on chartwell is situated on the bustling road of chartwell, whereby a lot of day & night activity take place. thisrestaurantisn’t one to miss, with their retro modern look, large open windows & an ever so inviting entrance.

food was average. not much options on their menu.restaurantis more of a bar vibe to have drinks. cocktails are amazing, pomegranate gin & tonic is a must try! very noisy and busyrestaurantso be sure to make a booking.

1. noisy as hell with very little ambiance
2. food seasoned with as much sauces as possible but no real flavors
3. tryin-to-hard kinda menu but no true signatures

having said that, waiters really attentive and made sure that i always had a drink at hand.

área had a lot more to offer than this mediocre food kinda place.

the moment i walked into therestauranti knew that i would love it.

therestaurantis beautiful. the light feature is probably the first point i noticed and loved. since we were out for dinner the lights really set the tone for the evening. it was a could night but therestaurantwas pleasantly warm, we were seated at the back so perhaps the warmth was caused by being near the kitchen. there was music playing at a comfortable volume but as the night grew older it became louder- that is the reason for the 4 instead of 5 stars. it was too loud. uncomfortably so.

the food. lovely presentation. warm all round. delivered to our tables after the perfect wait. we were served complimentary bread with a sausage side while we waited. the bread seemed freshly made. most of us ordered starters. i had a tasted of the wings and the pairing with the sauce. i jad ordered calamari which was accompanied by a jam dip which i did not fancy. i also stole a taste of the chicken livers which were magic. done so right! later on in the even i tasted the leftover steak was also done just right. we all enjoyed our drinks.

the staff. what a vibe. nothing beats being served by a happy staff. a shout out to the owners who seem to be treating their waiters well. ayanda was our waiter and he was a pleasure. i did notice though that there were no waitresses 👀

i most certainly will be returning.

our waiter offered a few tasters of the craft beers to decide my mind, which immediately hooked me.
lamb wrap was incredible and salads were far beyond our expectations! the service was what made it for us though! definitely want to go back again!

really interesting menu that is fairly priced. it made it really difficult to choose. eventually went for a few of the burger options for lunch and we were not disappointed. really delicious burgers full of flavor. the decor of therestaurantis also extremely appealing and welcoming.

amazing!!!! great value of money and delicious meals! beautiful decor and seating arrangements..would recommend you sit on the couch seats - soo comfortable. loved the lobster mac 'n cheese and the grilled prawn pasta - both prepared to perfection! good drinks and delicious salted caramel hot chocolate! eton mess was great - 2 people need to share, it's a bit much for 1 person which is great- good serving! did not enjoy the bread and butter pudding - the bread was a bit hard and the vanilla bean icecream was more like a sorbet. overall, an amazingrestaurantwith friendly, accomodating staff and manager! thank you thulani - you are our go to guy! will be back soon!

a decent trendy hangout spot in umhlanga which attracts regular patrons looking for a bar loungerestaurantcombination. interior decor and ambience resembles modern earthy contemporary design yet slightly sophisticated makes for a great evening out amongst friends and colleagues. the outside spilling of tables by roadside however doesn't quite offer the same experience as the inside but understandably so.

menu is furnished with general mediterranean type cuisine mixed with a craft beer selection. went for a broad selection of finger nibbles to sample the kitchen which included mussels, chicken wings, lamb strips and chips. on the whole it was a satisfactory experience with the mussels choice being my favorite (spicy tomato based sauce mixed with their freshly made bread was a decadently received by my tastebuds).

nice one guys and surely will return for some drinks at the bar with colleagues.

the place to be if you looking for drinks in the village. therestaurantdecor is stylish and elegant. the service can be abit slow when they are busy, and this place can get very busy especially on the weekend, so booking in advance is recommended. as far as drinks are concern, i really enjoy their signature g&t's. food wise the jaffle sandwiches are good.

i have been wanting to try thisrestaurantfor since my last durban trip and was so happy when without a reservation they were able to seat us on a saturday night!

the service was impeccable, with the warmest of blankets on offer for a chilly saturday night.
we started with the baked camembert and salt and pepper calamari. the hazelnut praline is served piping hot(careful) but adds the crunch texture necessary for the dish. mains i opted for the seafood bouillabaisse which was rush with flavours and seafood!!

we were too full for dessert so i guess i'll have to come back!!

i was put up in the protea hotel. searched for a goodrestauranton zomato and found this to be ranked at 4.3 and right opposite the hotel. so when there for dinner. therestaurantwas full. good crowd. the interiors were not great, except the lighting gave a good look to the restaurant. i had the fried pepper calamari and grilled hake. it came with a green salad. the food was good. service was good. but, i expected better for a 4.3 ranked restaurant.

food was average, don't cater very well for vegetarians at all. place is extremely noisy as it was a friday night and the bar is in the middle of the wholerestaurantso it's the local congregation point for people just coming for drinks. dessert was a joke.

we had a team dinner here last night and it is such an amazing spot. i've been slightly put off the umhlanga scene because what else could i be shown??
well fourteen proved me wrong, the area definitely has some great gems to offer.

wedged between vovo telo and a sea food like spot my only complaint is how hidden therestaurantis.

the table ordered a variety of pastas, burgers, nibbles and i had the lamb cutlets with mash.

the cutlets were cooked amazingly, sitting on a bed of rosemary mash and what i think was red wine jus. mmmm *smacks lips*

we also had a round of cocktails, i had a virgin watermelon and jelepeno margarita, it was delicious. it's not easy to find a place the doesn't completely butcher their virgin cocktails.

so say yes to fourteen on chartwell!
