very nice lunch here.. my husband and i came for lunch on a friday. parking was easy. hostess and wait staff were very attentive and friendly. i ordered two appetizers for my meal: the crab cake and fried green tomatoes. both of these were very good. the crab was served over a salsa with corn in it and had a nice smoky taste. it was unusual and very good the 4 pieces of fried green tomato were served with a salad that had some proscuitto and ?feta or goat cheese in it along with a remoulade? sauce. very good. the highlight for me was a perfect cup of gazpacho. as you know, gas is hit or miss; slimy cucumbers or just a whirled veggie mess, but no, this was perfect. the veggies were diced very very small making for a delicious gaz. my husband had the signature salmon luncheon dish cooked perfectly and served with mashed potatoes and braised red cabbage. our bill was ~$50, a bit more than we normally pay for lunch but the portions were huge and the food was delicious. yes, i'd recommend trying it out.

don't bother. there is nothing interesting to see here…move along…seriously. pedestrian, boring, and expensive.

there are much better places to eat.

avoid this one.

my 1st mother's day. we went to food works for a 5:30 dinner on my 1st mother's day with my 10 month old daughter and her grandparents. we had made reservations, only to get there and they did not have our name. no big deal. we were seated right away. we ordered an appetizer and drinks and after about 15 minutes we ordered our entrees. to make a long story short, we did not receive our food until 50 minutes after we order. in fact, the table behind us ordered, ate, and paid their bill before we were served our food. the manager told us that it was because a pork chop was ordered. this is not stipulated on the menu that it takes a long time to cook. after my father told her it does not take 45 minutes to cook a pork chop, we were it was because the kitchen was busy. my food was cold as was my mom. however, at this point to 10 month was about done sitting in her high chair. we were then charged tip on top of our bill, which my husband zeroed out and found out today he was still charged. we called and were told it was due to the size of our party. a party of 4 adults and one baby. needless to say, foodworks will not be getting any more business from us.

not a fan of fw. i've been to foodworks several times and never been impressed. i'm a simple kind of girl, although a little picky, and the type of fancypants food served here is just not my bag. if i want a steak, i want a steak and gimme some of that trashy heinz 57 sauce to muck it all up with, you know?

to make matters worse, foodworks isn't cheap. and even for fancypants food, it is severely overpriced considering that it lacks in taste and portions equivalent to what one is paying for their meal.

the bread service is pathetic, too - regular ol' rolls that can be had at a million other restaurants; one would expect homemade bread, but nope. frozen pre-made rolls served along with your over-priced meal.

service is generally snotty and rude, very slow and annoying. this is probably the biggest reason why i will pout and whine at the prospect of being taken to fw. i can generally find something, anything, to eat, but when it comes to service, i'm somewhat of a stickler unless the food more than makes up for it.

good salads. but, i can get a good salad anywhere.

excellent experience. went on a saturday evening without a reservation, but they were able to seat us immediately at a bar area high top table. i had the chicken piccata with mashed potatoes and seasonable vegetable- absolutely delicious. my companion had the beef brisket tacos and said the flavor was amazing. the beef was fairly fatty and required a good bit of trimming. price was reasonable for the food and the ambiance. very nice bartender attended to our table. would definitely go back. seems like a good date spot - cozy, romantic.

nice / unique spot for some food. the building was clearly once some industrial use facility but they did a good job with the repurpose.

plenty of activity at 6:45 and ample parking both at the location and beside restaurant. plenty of selection re the appetizers and the salads/ sandwiches and entrees.  looked like mostly a $$$ rating is correct on the pricing.

could t really single out a choice so asked my server for a recommendation. he suggested the chicken piccata (pictured). i went with that.

the dish was served in a reasonable amount of time and looked appealing. it was served on a huge serving of mashed potatoes. good but only good. there were a few spots in them that i felt like didn't get totally heated through. the chicken was done very well. nice crust on the outside but moist inside. the capers, mushrooms and sauce added a good acidity. i didn't check but the snow peas on the side appeared to have been seared then served with a sauce as well. regardless i did enjoy those as well.

overall id go back and have another meal.

food works is great! the food is delicious. we had a graduation dinner here for 30 people and everything was very well organized and the wait staff was great and on top of everything. would definitely recommend this restaurant for parties/dinners, as well as just for two.

food works is located in the  north shore  area in part of an old, renovated multistory knitting mill—which, in itself, has multiple historical stories to tell. sharing this large building with  knitting mill antiques , food works opened in 2006 to bring “progressive southern” cuisine to the north shore area. i’d heard good things about their weekend  brunch , so i roamed on over to check it out. read the rest of my review at nooga.com! about these ads share this: email

very disappointing. we did .... very disappointing.
we did our reservations on line and received a phone call with where we were sitting. our parents are 81 years old so it was very pleasing they were taking care of us putting us at a tall table on the main level. when we arrived they said they had to move us upstairs...? i said our parents are 81 why are we being moved upstairs? the hostess said that the other party had called and said they could not go upstairs. she had no empathy and just rushed upstairs.
after we helped out father with his cane upstairs i went back and complained to management that the table we had reserved was taken after the fact. he apologized and said he would treat us with appetizers and try to make things right. apparently he got amnesia because he didn't let anyone know or come by to see us. the food was average at best one plate even cold. desert was good.
upon paying i noticed our credit card was not in with the bill. as we were walking out it was on the floor by the top of the stairs. oh this couldn't get much worse right?
on the way out for curiosity we looked to see who reserved the table that we had to give up and the 5 ladies in there 50's looked pretty healthy. no canes or visible issues, very well dressed but definitely as capable as an 81 year old man who can't walk without his cane.
