great food and service . delicious burger , salad and beer. i will be coming back the next time i visit victoria! saturday night and theplacewas packed yet no waiting in line .

on the docks at the harbor seaplane airport, with fish and chips, well made cesars, burgers, and such. excellentplaceto sit and wait our watch planes come and go, with fair prices.

the location and ambiance of thisplacecan't be beat. you are right on the water in the inner harbor. and most seating is outdoors - which we enjoyed on december 30th! they have plastic shades to break the wind and the outdoor heaters are really strong so we weren't cold at all. i love having the ability to still eat outside at the end of the year! we went for "appie hour" - 2 for 1 appetizers from 4:00 pm till 6:30 pm tuesdays to saturdays - how can you beat that? the calamari was absolutely excellent and worth trying. also had good drink specials including $4.00 wine. this was an absolutely excellent experience and we will return again on our next visit.

worse experience ever. arrived at 7:45 . walks in no one greeted us at the door and the bartender was cleaning up and i asked what time they were closed he peeks over at the clock maybe 8 or 9 shrugs... if its quiet we shut down early. so i asked if it was ok to sit down ? and he says oh there's tables there. theplacehad 4 tables on the patio. he walks over to the kitchen and lets them know that there is 7 of us. they all took turn 5 of them walking to the window and staring out right at us and mouthing stuff to one another making us feel super uncomfortable. the dish washing pudgy girl says out loud wow is this our dinner rush and picks her teeth. wow so rude. now everyone is peeping out and keeps staring after i asked the waitress if they were closing we can leave. no wonder it's dead. service is the worse , they don't even want the business . advertises wrong times for the hour of operation , might as well not open and don't welcome anyone in? i even called 15 mins ahead and asked if i need a reservation and the bartender says on the phone we are quiet tonight you are welcome just to walk in with a party of 7. bad management and rude kitchen staff. our waitress was nice i hope the tip i left her only went to her because no one else on the staff deserves it.

always a pleasant experience.. the first time we were went to the flying otter was for a christmas party. the patio, even in the winter, was a delight to sit on and enjoy the company of our fellow rotaractors. since then, we've been back a few times. its a great location to sit during the summer, but does get really busy. make sure you try to go just before the big rush times. the food has always been enjoyable and even better they do a few meals that are garlic free. my father-in-law has a sever allergy and finding places that make enough things from scratch is always a hard task (seriously, you get tired of the same chinese restaurant after a while).

wouldn't say thisplaceis kid friends, especially at dinner time.

fave location and great food. had the warm goat cheese salad which is almost enough for a meal. it is probably the best salad in town. then had the shroom pizza, that has plenty of mushrooms on a very thin slightly burned at the edges crust, this adds a nice flavour. the service was great even though they were very busy. ordered clam chowder to go for a friend, and all was done efficiently with a smile. definietely my favourite downtown eatery.

more local craft beers!. loved the black and blue steak salad! thisplaceis my absolute favourite downtown pub with decent food. i do wish they would feature more victoria craft beers. bringing out of town customers here is always a treat for them.

good, but can be better. one of my favourite places for food & beer. it does not get better than this for a true inner harbour ambiance. the food is from good to very good, the beer selection really needs work. suggest they sell only victoria beers (they could use that in their advertisements!) we have such excellent craft breweries here and it is hard to find places that serve them. otter would be the bestplaceto meet up with the gang for a local pint.

im a huge fan of this place, the food and view are great there. the only bad thing i can say about theplaceis that the service can sometimes be hit or miss.

chose to eat here for the scenic setting, and the food was absolutely delicious! hands down best calamari i've had in a while . and i've been craving the prawn wrap for a good two weeks now. definitely reccomend trying thisplaceout

we went here last night for date night. the service was good and fast. my boyfriend loved his ceaser and beerceaser. the raspberry mojito was really good. the appys were 2 for 1 and we shared the crab cakes (which were okay) and the tuna tataki (delicious!). for our mains we shared the halibut wrap and spicy shrimp wrap. i wasn't impressed by either. the shrimp wrap while it tasted really good only had about 4 shrimp. the halibut wrap wasn't bad but it just wasn't for me. my boyfriend liked it. overall i think the flying otter is a greatplacefor a casual dinner and drinks. while i didn't personally like the wraps i'd like to go back and try something else.

we stumbled upon thisplaceby accident after having a very bad experience at a different restaurant. the location was awesome! service was spectacular. the waitress and the manager made sure they took good care of us. we had the seafood sampler which was wonderful and i thought the price was very reasonable. we will definitely go back when we revisit victoria and would highly recommend this place!

everything was great at the flying otter grill and it reminded us that we need to come to thisplacemore often - the food is prepared with care, the service is genuine and the ambiance is cozy (even without the toasty fireplace!).

a very satisfying dining experience. i haven't been to thisplacefor a few years, but i went again last night because i had a groupon. i'm so glad i did. it has really changed. the flying otter has excellent service and food! their chef is really good. i haven't been here for a few years, and man, has it ever improved. on mondays they have a burger and beer special after 4 pm, which is very good value at only $10. my companion and i shared a chicken burger and it was the tastiest chicken burger i've had in a long time.

we had three entrees: the shroom pizza, which is a must for anyone out there who loves mushrooms, the chicken burger with fries (the burger was so moist and flavorful, and the fries were crispy and perfect), and the chicken salad with mango dressing, which was a big surprise for me because i only ordered it as a compromise with my dining companion as an item we would share. it was fresh, creamy, sweet, and impossible to forget about once it was on the table.

we didn't have dessert because we were too full, although apparently they have a deep fried cheesecake dessert which i am now very curious about.

our server, pete, was a total pro. very courteous and efficient.

i want to go back again as soon as possible, and try other items on the menu. we sat on the heated, enclosed deck, right on the water and enjoyed the ambiance.

never going back.. come on. really? everytime i go into thisplacethe party-girl waitresses are*way* hung-over from the night before. this morning my waitress wore *sunglasses*. the food is slapped together with no regards to plating and the price for this whole experience is more than what i would pay for at the legitimate, popular local breakfast joints. do yourself a favour. wait in line somewhere else and enjoy your breakfast instead of partaking in this sort of ridiculousness...

i like it but..... flying otter grill (fog) is a fantasticplacefor both food and drink. the views are amazing and food generally good. it certainly keeps me coming back time and time again.

but...

we recently went on sunday for the 50 cent wings and $4 beers. we had never tried them here before, so figured it'd be a goodplaceto spend a wam sunday evening.

the wings were subpar. tiny, bony and greasy wings slathered in a pool of sauce were gross. the cajun spiced wings were the same bony and greasy wings drenched in cajun seasoning. together - they made for one of the worst wing experiences we've had to date.

the beer? well - that one is our fault. the beers were not to our taste, but i would never blame fog for that.

all in all - i *would* go back, but i would steer clear of those nasty excuses for a wing. yuck!

thisplaceis fun with great food. our family ate here 2 times in a row. our only 2 nights in victoria! (we voted where to eat the second night and everyone wanted to go back to the flying otter). the chef special of seafood linguine was superb! mussels, local salmon, local halibut, local prawns. they have great local beers on tap, their mushroom pizza was fantastic. i got to meet several "locals", and they have a young, vibrant staff that are extremely friendly. location cant be beat on the water in the inner harbour. it is a floating restaurant with reasonable prices. moderate for victoria.
