awful overpriced pizza. i was so disappointed when i got my pizza. first the crust was black and lacking taste since it was burnt to a crisp. very few toppings placed on each oddball slice not a typical round pizza with wedge slices a very grotesque shape that was cut in all shorts of shapes. the toppings were light and i mean light and what i was mostly upset with was the cost. this pizza only feeds one for a meal so if you split it with others prepare to order more food or leave hungry. way over priced for what i received don't waste your time or money on the pizza not a winner in my book.

great atmosphere. and good food. while i"m not terribly pleased that all the restaurants in edmonds seem to be serving gourmet pizza these days - the pear gorgonzola pizza here is amazing and i order it for an appetizer each time i visit. the other items that i have had on the menu are good too including the carne asada. one great thing about this place is the lighting. they have it right and have paid attention to the detail. though the restaurant is in a strange spot - sort of a strip mall - they have enough good things going that it is now in our regular line of up good places to eat in the area.

great new menu. we ate dinner at five tonight for the first time. we arrived on the right day because this was the first day of a full bar and the serving of entree's. my wife and i both found the food to be delicious. we started with the insalata de palma which was made with very fresh and crisp baby arugula, olive oil, parmesan reggiano, marcona almonds and fresh lemon juice. for entrees my wife had linguine vongole which was manila clams in a spicy garlic wine saude. i had the chicken saltimbocca which was an organic chicken breast stuffed with prosciutto de palma and swiss cheese. it was served with perfectly oven fired vegetables and a crimini sage wine cream sauce. we finished it off with a scoop of stacciatell gelato. great atmosphere, friendly staff, and good food. what more could one ask for!

not cool enough. we went there approx. a year ago. we are a middle aged couple without spiky hair or all black clothing. after we waited 15 min. or so the waiter sauntered up and asked what we wanted. we said we'd like a table. after cooly appraising us he said " i donnknow what yer gonna do were all full up. maybe you can sit at the bar." my wife pointed to the 1/2 dozen empty tables and asked why we couldnt sit out in the restuarant. the waiter said that the tables were for his "regular" customers. place looked nice enough, but obviously they only want a certain clientele

dress the part...... my daughter and i decided to stop here for dinner on our way to the ferry. we were dressed casually, but not shabbily, and decided to give this restaurant a try. we were seated in the middle of the room, visible to all staff. we sat, waiting for our waitress, or any waitress to acknowledge that we were there for at least 15 minutes. we were about to leave when a waitress came over and asked if we would like to order. we placed our order and the waitress disappeared for another 20 minutes. she then returned with our food, and left. over the course of dinner, she checked with many tables. how is your food, do you need anything? not once did she return to our table. i had to flag her down to get the check when we had finished. consequently, i didn't leave her a big tip. she must have thought that was unacceptable, because the charge that came through my bank was for more money than i had signed the slip for. when i checked with the bank, they confirmed the amount was right. so, if you decide to go to this restaurant, be prepared to have the waitress take whatever money from you that she feels she deserves. even if she doesn't do an adequate job.

as far as the dinner went, our food was edible but bland. i am sure my experience was tainted by my treatment, but i am not sure that the food was good enough for me to return.

every visit is better than the last.. the decor and ambience is great and was what first drew us into five. the food started out when they opened as "good" and has now earned a "great" in our book. on our last dinner with friends at five on a february weekend, dinner was a knock out. the four of us had little of everything -appetizers, pizza, pork chop, chicken and salmon and the food was not only delicious, but also beautifully presented. the tequila flights are a fun alternative to the usual wine flights, although there is plenty of wine as well.

ultra cool wait staff, creative culinary selections, and artful preparation et presentation deliver a sold-out performance with not an empty seat – or plate – in the house. regulars range from ‘daily candy‘ites in skull-caps and sweats to broadcloth and chino boomers.

i don't understand the few negative reviews regarding the food. i've never had a bad or even marginal experience there. we eat the often. one big criticism tho is the loud noise inside. they really must do something about the noise. i know others that love the food but don't go often as they might because of how loud it gets when they are busy. please do something about the noise level.

we have been coming here since it opened. food is terrific. finally a good place in edmonds. the owner is a nice guy and he try's hard. i don't understand the bad revues because everyone i know loves this place. guess that just goes to show, some people are never satisfied.

our new favorite restaurant! very tasty food, fun ambiance, friendly servers. the caesar salad--best dressing ever--was served in a trendy canning jar. it was exciting just to see how the dinner would be served. we are already planning our next visit with our best friends!

not impressed. we ate dinner here a week ago and left very unimpressed. the positives are that the decor is great and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. i could see that the outdoor patio would be charming in the summer. however, decor never makes up for mediocre food. we started with the scallop appetizer which tasted very fishy. not fresh! our friend ordered a salad that was inedible due to the fact that it was doused in salt! i took a bite to confirm that it tasted like seawater. we sent it back. thankfully, they took the charge off of our bill. my table mates had the pizza which they enjoyed. the times review said that the crust at five rivaled serious pie, a huge overstatement. tom douglas is the master. the crust was good but couldn't touch the pie's crust. i ordered the salmon. i loved the black bean puree, roasted lemon half on top and the pretty presentation. the rest was a disaster. the salmon was very overcooked and the entire dish was literally swimming in a bath infused oil. a drizzle of oil would have been delightful, but it was literally like a cup of oil on the plate. it totally ruined the dish. being underwhelmed with most of our choices we skipped dessert and went home vowing not to return. so many other good places in edmonds to get a better meal.
