excellent!. one of my standby favorite restaurants! the chop salad is my new favorite salad! my wife craves the pizza (better than delancey's!) and the salmon entree on the black bean puree is truly the best salmon dish i have had in seattle! and we are foodies! the waitstaff are friendly, attentive and never far. recommended highly!

wonderful!. ate there last night for the first time - service was great & friendly! we shared our meal - the scallops with the spicy lime bechamel suauce was excellent, tasty with just a touch of spice. we then had the chicken saltimbucco - the crimini sage wine cream sauce with the oven fried vegetables were delightful, the potatoes had a nice crunch on the outside and soft & melty on the inside!

this is a great place! will go again!

what a treat!. i read through all of the reviews before i decided to write here and was surprised at the bad reviews. "bland food?" "tasteless?" "not good?" it just goes to show you how different we are, i guess.
i thought it was fantastic food! my husband and i stopped in on a lark and decided, after a few bites, that five is our new favorite restaurant. we loved the food, loved the urban feel of the experience, and had a friendly and very competent waiter.
i would recommend it to anyone!

arrogant and lousy. my party was so disappointed on many levels, where to begin?? owner\manager is rude and arrogant. they think they have something special in this new eatery when in fact they have an overly expensive restaurant with mediocre food. our server was so outgoing that all she could talk about was herself, a farm in new zealand and that she loves yoga and mediation. do we really need to listen to such personal ego at a five-n-dime restaurant?

excellent. the caesar salad was the best i have had -- ever. the dressing was tasty and held the parmesan to the greens very evenly. the pepperoni pizza was also excellent. it seemed made from fresh, low fat ingredients (i know -- pepperoni?) and the crust had a salty treat when you finished a piece.

yikes!. i was waiting for the opportunity to try this place out. i thought it would be wonderful to be able to go "just down the street" to a great place for a glass of wine and an appy. i was very dissapointed! we ordered 2 glasses of wine (1 each) and the cheese plate. when we received the bill it came to almost $30.00! i will not go back and pay that kind of money for a couple glasses of wine and a few small slices of cheese! also, the watress was rude. we told her it was very hot in the restaurant and she replied that that is just the way it is!

five! five days a week. we love this wonderful addition to our neighborhood. have eaten breakfast, lunch & dinner - no not all in the same day. but there was a time we had company for about a week and a half, and i think we were there 5 times! simple but "out of the box" menu. love the "madame" in the morning. our guests loved the mussels. have enjoyed every salad we have tried! sandwiches too! i am not a big tomato & meat type pizza fan, so, so refreshing to have some unusual choices. i love, love the "pear pizza" (pear, gorgonzola, pine nuts, dill - mmm good.

love it - really!. i was there twice this week and it is now my favorite new place in edmonds.

to start, my wife had the clams, i had the chopped salad, and my uncle had the hummus. none of us wanted to share our food, it was that good.

the three of us then split two pizzas. they taste wood-fired, and are just gorgeous. a bottle of wine later and we were on our way home....with another chop salad to go!!

i came off the ferry.... ...and was driving up the hill on the way to the airport.

i stopped...and was not disappointed. what a lovely little place!! the pizzas are a marvel, the service was so lovely (and i am now in love with another server in the world), and i can't wait to head north of seattle again.

it's worth the trip across the water, that's for sure! next time, i have to try the big sandwich that the gent at the next table was eating. it looked extraordinary!

welcome to the neighborhood!. this bistro is going to grow into one of those neighborhood places where folks gather for regular breakfast/coffee sessions, stop for a quick lunch, or rendezvous with friends for a glass of wine. they're trying new menu items and, even though somewhat limited, there's something suitable for anyone. hope their wine selections and quality improve, but they're a spot definitely worth checking out.

a perfect spot. it's so nice to see a lovely restaurant open in my hometown! i can't decide what i like more: the food, the decor, or the service! i find it kind of funny that there are some neg reviews here from people who have only written one review (hint, hint to the neighboring restaurant).

the lunch is supper yummy and i've quickly become a huge fan of the clt sandwich, which is just the best new thing i've eaten all year. the salads are a great size and i really appreciate the menu choices -- some healthy, all filling!

dinner is my favorite, though. the 5 bistro pizza is a marvel: just enough for one person, with a brushed crust (and just a hint of sea salt?). my son now begs to go here for our evenings out.

5 appetizers, 5 salads, 5 pizzas, 5 desserts = 5 stars!

attitude problem. a group of us chose five as our gathering place. we shared three pizzas which were ok, however, one guest also ordered the oven-fired mussel dish that was horrible. after sending it back to the kitchen, the owner appeared and argued with her about the dish. he indicated that he had eaten 8 or 9 of them in the kitchen and they were just fine. what kind of service is that? the restaurant does have a fun urban feel, but the arrogant owner certainly doesn't exude the warmth we love about the edmonds community. won't support this restaurant.

finally!. finally, someone gets it! it's so nice to not have to drive to seattle for a bite to eat at a place that has that urban neighborhood feel. we stopped in to check it out mainly because a friend told us they had stumptown coffee (we missed that ever since zu cafe closed) . the staff was super warm and friendly. the decor is very tastefully hip.the menu is simple and inexpensive. we just had the hummus plate and it was awesome! we will definitely tell our friends and shall return for more.
