great burgers but what i like is it is the best rootbeer of all time

best american on the loop. fitz is an american restaurant located on the loop. their root beers are delicious, and their burgers are great as well. blueberry hill seems to overshadow fitz's since it is across the street, but i think fitz's is far superior. when you leave blueberry hill, you wreak of smoke and 30-45 minute wait for a cheeseburger is normal. if you want a burger and root beer on the loop go to fitz's.

not for me. i'll wade in here and just say i hate their root beer. absolutely do not like it. so i wouldn't care if the food was good, because the root beer keeps me away. way too sweet. where's the root?

love the root beer and the burgers. the appotizers are ho hum as is the rest of the menu. good happy hour deals on beer and a game room make this a fun place. very family friendly

family friendly. great place to take a big group with kids. the staff is generally patient with kids, crayons are provided. the food isn't anything to write home about but it isn't bad. service can be a bit slow but it is never rude.

meal was ok at best.... we made the trip over to fitz's looking for a good meal and great rootbeer. sadly the meal was ok, certainly not great. my son had the teriyaki bowl....veggies were definetly out of a frozen bag and lacked a good portion of chicken. i had fish tacos....again, just ok. the real point behind going to fitz is to get rootbeer (or other variety). rootbeer was kind of flat and lacked a deep rootbeer taste. i have hate to say it but i bottle of mug rootbeer is better in my opinion. the overall atmoshere was good and this would be an ok dinner place for young kids (was kid friendly). i will not be returning...overall was a disappointment.

needs to step it up. i have always loved fitz's for the atmosphere and easy going menu. however, it is lacking any sort of effort. there is too much competition around the city for better restaurants, they need to change up the menu or get better ingredients. it is a good place to bring kids because of the root beer :)

oh yea - good!. the root beer,,, the other specialty drinks,,, the sandwiches,,, the atmosphere,,, the service - 'tis all good. just a simple enjoyable place to go, relax, have some good food. been here about 4 times over the past couple years, always very good - never a complaint. can be difficult to find parking relatively nearby, but even if have to walk, and at times the little bit of a wait [~10-20 minutes in my experience] 'tis worth going here.

what a jerk!. i'm sitting alone at the table while my fiance is in the little girls room. some bearded loser sneeks up behind me, which usually would be bad for your health, but none the less he says something to the effect of snotty," are ya ready?" no greeting, no intro, no hi, just a are ya ready? no i'm not ready. so, after i sort this guy out, he brings us some really forgetable food. don't go here. it's stl, there is a million restaurants better than this. many located blocks away. get a piece at racanellis before you go here.

rootbeerz. i had a breakfast burger with root beer. as other have said, the root beer is great (and you get lots of refills for sure). the burger was pretty good too in my book, nothing great but but worth the price. the fries were good, not great too. would come back, but probably not just for the food.

tastes like mcdonalds. i'm sorry, fitz's, i know you've been around forever. your root beer and cream sodas are divine, but your food sucks. burgers are uninspired, the fries are flavorless, i did have a decent turkey burger here once. the atmosphere is unique, though, so i guess it has that going for it.

service can be spotty, too. plus, you can't smoke anywhere until after ten. jeez, i didn't know that we were in effing clayton.

unbottled emotions. agree with the aug 5th reviewer about the hostess's reception. cold, and annoyed about a request to sit outside. she talked us out of it because "bees were bad today", yet there were many people outside. wish we sat outside, because it was freezing inside (although i was a little under the weather). besides the rocky start, the indoor decor is fun and colorful. the bottling operation is cool to see. the wait staff was attentive and friendly. and the food was good, while typical of what you would expect of a burger joint. i of course started with a root beer which was excellent.

fitz's rootbeer. my six year old and i visited and she was amazed by the bottling process, so it is only because of this i am glad we went.
i ask the hostess (before being seated) for a table near the bottling machine and she acted irritated (maybe because she had to wipe off a table that had been
cleared but not cleaned). however i felt the hostility was aimed at me.
i am not sensitive or unreasonable and i would not mention this if it were the only bad service we received.
the food wasn't even average (my fries were cold and the root beer was warm). i think the food was over priced considering the quality.
i would have complained about the cold fries and warm root beer if our server would have taken the time to check on us.
the staff seemed content sitting at the counter talking amongst themselves.
i have worked in restaurants and i understand sometimes it is difficult to make time for every customer but we were there between 3-4 pm on a tuesday and
were one of four tables. we were definitely treated like we were an annoyance.
if part of the dining experience there is that the staff is somewhat rude to their customers i think they should advertise it instead of it being a surprise.
i would go back if my child asks, although next time we will just have a float. i am sure the root beer is better with a little ice cream to cool it off.
