great place for food in delmar loop. found out bbq is smoked in house - y'all should really advertise that!! pulled pork was very tasty with root beer bbq sauce. had to get root beer float. it is huge! however, ice cream on top was quite sub par and ruined it for me. i would love to see fitzs go local for some things like serendipity ice cream (vanilla bean would have tasted great on the float!), and maybe even with their meats too since the place itself is so entrenched in stl culture. my buddy has one of the burgers and it was delicious with good smoky taste. great place to go with kids but without changes to floats, i'll just eat dessert elsewhere.

fitz's is known for root beer and they also have a lot more flavors of soda. for lunch i had the black and bleu burger. i asked for their bbq sauce on the side. this burger didn't make my socks go up and down, but it was okay. the presentation was good, the bun was flavorful and durable. toppings for the burger were very strong as far as the bleu cheese was concerned. i didn't taste any blackening seasoning and the onion rings with raw onions were strange. i couldn't taste any seasoning on the meat. despite no meat flavor it was very juicy. next time i'm in the area i'll walk across the street to blueberry hill. here are my ratings:

i've been here several times. my first visit (about 4 years ago) was pretty bad, so i was hesitant to return, but once i went back i was pleasantly surprised. my salad was fresh and huge and my friend really liked her pork steak. our server was freindly and attentive. i will definitely be back!

if your visiting for the food aspect alone you will not be disappointed. the food is very good. not a fan of any of their "fitz sodas" served room temperature.. yuck. my problem is with the atmosphere. i'm not a fan of the delmar loop to start off with but this place is very dirty and looks very unkept. which is important to me if i'm going to be eating there. not at all acceptable.

did not have an enjoyable experience, and it was only my second time there. there was confusion about my order, and when it arrived, it was not what i thought i had ordered. instead of trying to make it "right", right away, the server just said, "well you got what's in front of you." she did get the two items i asked for to try and correct it, but had all the servers gathered together in the kitchen and they kept looking at my table while talking and eye-rolling. that doesn't make me want to try to eat that meal, or come back for another. what's worse, the manager was not really interested in trying to make it right either. the server did apologize, after i recommended that may help, and brought ice cream for all at the table. it was a nice gesture, but the meal experience was already ruined. i barely ate any of my "meal" and left the dessert to go somewhere else where i get better service. it's going to be a long time before i'll consider returning.

our family enjoys fitz's. we've been several times and have never had a bad meal. my favorite so far has been the fish tacos; i think they're the nest i've had yet. you can never go wrong with their root beer float either!

the root beer is fantastic. the food is good and decently priced. watching the bottling and mixing equipment mesmerizing. worth the stop.

cheap food...blehk. we went here one night because everywhere else on the loop was too crowded. now i know why this was not so popular. the items on the menu are not appealing. once i decided on an item and it was delivered, it was even less appealing. the food is cheap, the restaurant feels dirty (the table was sticky- everything felt sticky)...don't go here..even if it is the only restaurant not too crowded on the loop.

i love fitz's! even though i'm a vegetarian, i can always find a delicious meal on the menu. definitely the best floats i've ever had.

yum yum. very good food, large portion sizes, yummy ice cream. the rest. was packed, but we still got pretty good service.

the root beer was the star of the meal though, without a doubt. in all the food was okay, but not excellent or outstanding. it was overpriced for the quality presented, meal came to $14.20 before tip. that’s not excessive, but i can certainly do better elsewhere, like at hodges’ chili mac, casa gallardo or maryland yards. fitz’s may indeed have standout dishes, i might just have missed them. let me know if there’s something they’ve got that’s good enough to motivate me to go there again.

good atmosphere, ok food. what makes fitz's worth going back to is the atmosphere. it's a great place for kids and, though we've yet to see the bottling actually happen, we expect that's pretty cool to watch. and the root beer. bottomless frosted mugs . . . good stuff. we went back recently, after the ownership change, to see what was different. the atmosphere remains the same, as does the root beer. the food? well. it's solid. the pulled pork is even surprisingly good, though very, very sweet. the menu is built around burgers, some sandwiches, and a few house specials. but the burgers are better across the street at blueberry hill. the fish and chips at three kings down the block is hard to beat. and there's simply no way a place like this can hope to compete with the bbq titans in the area. it's a solid, fun place to go with the family. don't expect gourmet food, but it's hard to go wrong here, either.
