fish house

our top choice. i'm surprised to read any negative reviews of this place. we have been going to the fish house for at least 10 years. when we have guests, they now insist they want to get in a meal there, regardless of whatever else we do. for anyone who doesn't want fried food, the news is that there are other selections on the menu. i really hate to say too many great things because we'd like to keep this place as it is. maybe you hit thestaffon a bad day but this place is busy from the time it opens. someone in our party always orders the steam pot and i can honestly say i've never had a bad meal there, bad service, etc. from wilmington to restaurant row in myrtle beach, my family considers this place #1 over all local restaurants.

worst service ever!. thestaffwas very friendly at first, we thought this was going to be an enjoyable experiance....boy were we wrong. this was my first vist to oak island and the fish house was really close to where we were staying so we thought we would give it a try. we get seated put in drinks and an appitizer it takes over 30 min for our appitizer or for us to order because our waiter was very concerend with a table of four giggly girls behind us. while ordereing the waiter was very short and rude he only came back to the table once after we ordered, we had to flag other employees down to get anything, we had no refills and couldnt get a bill. i finally go up to the register and tell them how disappointed i was (everything was fine untill we complained, then we became the problem) with the service as i pay (full price) , after they swipe my card the "manager" gets irate and says that they will call the police on us and they never want people like us in their resturant anyway and that we should have eaten somewhere else!!! i was appaled!! we left without leaving a tip of course, but i checked my statement two days later and they had added a $20 tip to my card! that is unethecial and as far as im concerned they stole from me! i called the owner to inform her of this and she was just as bad as thestaffsaying that they called the police on us and filed a report because we took a drink in a to go cup outside (where people were drinking at the marina!!) and they gave us a drink and a to go cup!! this place has zero customer service. if you do choose to go here i hope you have a good experiance because if you dont you and your family will be the problem! discussed!

dot schuck. i just discovered this website through a mutual friend. i absolutely cannot believe the negative remarks about the food,staffand owners. having travelled in many areas and eaten in many restaurants, this one is by far the best ever. the food is nicely prepared and you get enough for a take home plate for the next day. i know the owners personally, and can assure you that you are mistaken in your opinion of them. they deal with a lot of people, and sometimes folks here on vacation can get a bit of an attitude also. all i can say is keep up the good work and wonderful food". my only complaint is that the restaurant is closed sometimes during the winter, but know they need a break. i have never had anyone complain about the food in this restaurant and know folks that drive here from away just to eat at the fish house.

great place. i have been going to this restaurant for about 15 years, the food is awesome and so is thestaffand owners. view is fantastic. i always bring my out of town family and friends here and they feel the same. come here and experience oak islands best!!

ridiculous!!!. how long is this restaurant going to keep the samestaffthere? you know..... the ones that never smile or even acknowledge your existence? especially when you've been a loyal patron for years. good luck selling those $30 to $50 entrees in this economy! doesn't really help your business.when you walk in you can feel the tension, even though k*****ly is no longer there (thought that would help a lot, guess not. use some of that money and add on to your 'bar", which is a joke, your bar stools are literally 2 to 3 feet apart from tables where 2 year olds are dining with mommy and daddy. if you don't want locals to come in and talk about their fishing and golfing and getting a little loud then don't advertise as 'local friendly"!!!!!!! me and wifey and a lot of others will be going to island way(better food and prices! come on up oak island and see a real restaurant in action.

don't like. this restaurant has the worst customer service i have ever encountered. it is such a shame too, because the food is good and they have a captive audience as they are the only restaurant on the west end of oak island. we have had a rental home about a mile from there for several years. we go there whenever we visit our home and have recommended the restaurant to our renters, even leave a menu in the house for renters to see.we've encountered some attitude from thestaffbefore but nothing like this weekend. the menu will be removed after our last visit there, as we won't go back and i certainly will not advise our renters or anyone else to go. our waiter was rude, arrogant and argumentative. when we asked to speak to the manager, he pointed to the hostess and said she was the owner.an owner would not have acted as she did i think she was his mother as they favored each other and certainly acted the same. she was just as rude and insulting, accused us of being rude first because we had questioned the 18% gratuity for the 4 of us they put on our bill. it's well worth driving up the beach to go to other restaurants. there are some other excellent restaurants in the area with class and know how to treat their customers.

best seafood on the island. not only can you dock your boat next to this restaurant you can watch the sun set over the water from the location before you enjoy the finest seafood that comes off the local fishing boats every day. family owned plus staffed by many family members. one evening after enjoying our dinner we could not start our boat and was surprised how thestaffcalled a taxi and stayed close by to direct the driver to where we were. talk about taking care of business.

the food was great!!!! the portions were huge and thestaffwas very friendly. we will be back! best seafood we've had on the island! my husband had the oysters and raved about them! i had the fried shrimp and it was great!

the staff.... thestaffin this place are exceptional! it is like clockwork in there and the bus girl is amazing and they are all very very hardworking! the food is the best i have ever tasted. they make you feel right at home from the second you walk through their doors. i bring friends and family here every chance i get, the prices may be a little high but the food is worth every penny and we always take home left overs. definately recommend this place to everyone.

food is just " ok" ! service sucks!!! they are rude and have no clue about cs! the wholestaffneeds to be fired / retrained! it's sad !
