our top choice. i'm surprised to read any negative reviews of this place. we have been going to the fishhousefor at least 10 years. when we have guests, they now insist they want to get in a meal there, regardless of whatever else we do. for anyone who doesn't want fried food, the news is that there are other selections on the menu. i really hate to say too many great things because we'd like to keep this place as it is. maybe you hit the staff on a bad day but this place is busy from the time it opens. someone in our party always orders the steam pot and i can honestly say i've never had a bad meal there, bad service, etc. from wilmington to restaurant row in myrtle beach, my family considers this place #1 over all local restaurants.

enjoyed dinner there again last night. great service, great food, nice time.

fishhouserestaurant has always served a great meal. love their salads...always fresh. they are always busy so be prepared to wait.

great food & great atmosphere. just ate at the fishhouseand enjoyed a delightful evening working on a huge plate of fried shrimp and fries. great value and terrific taste----brought home enough for lunch tomorrow. other diners in the lounge were friendly and the bartender did a great job of keeping everybody happy and well taken care of. this place is high on our list and is so much better than other oak island restaurants. we plan to return tomorrow for the seafood chowder!!

worth the wait. we went to fishhouselast night for dinner and had a fantastic meal. the menu is a little pricey but we've definitely eaten at more expensive seafood restaurants before so don't let it steer you away if you love good fish. the plates are huge so you will not leave hungry. at our table we had a flounder and shrimp platter-fried, a steam pot, another fried flounder and shrimp platter with a deviled crab, a broiled flounder and shrimp platter (mine-fantastic!), and a kids alfredo pasta. the platters not only come with plenty of fish and shrimp, but you also get corn on the cob, a starch option (new potatoes for us), and slaw. everything was so good!

worst service ever!. the staff was very friendly at first, we thought this was going to be an enjoyable experiance....boy were we wrong. this was my first vist to oak island and the fishhousewas really close to where we were staying so we thought we would give it a try. we get seated put in drinks and an appitizer it takes over 30 min for our appitizer or for us to order because our waiter was very concerend with a table of four giggly girls behind us. while ordereing the waiter was very short and rude he only came back to the table once after we ordered, we had to flag other employees down to get anything, we had no refills and couldnt get a bill. i finally go up to the register and tell them how disappointed i was (everything was fine untill we complained, then we became the problem) with the service as i pay (full price) , after they swipe my card the "manager" gets irate and says that they will call the police on us and they never want people like us in their resturant anyway and that we should have eaten somewhere else!!! i was appaled!! we left without leaving a tip of course, but i checked my statement two days later and they had added a $20 tip to my card! that is unethecial and as far as im concerned they stole from me! i called the owner to inform her of this and she was just as bad as the staff saying that they called the police on us and filed a report because we took a drink in a to go cup outside (where people were drinking at the marina!!) and they gave us a drink and a to go cup!! this place has zero customer service. if you do choose to go here i hope you have a good experiance because if you dont you and your family will be the problem! discussed!

don't like. this restaurant has the worst customer service i have ever encountered. it is such a shame too, because the food is good and they have a captive audience as they are the only restaurant on the west end of oak island. we have had a rental home about a mile from there for several years. we go there whenever we visit our home and have recommended the restaurant to our renters, even leave a menu in thehousefor renters to see.we've encountered some attitude from the staff before but nothing like this weekend. the menu will be removed after our last visit there, as we won't go back and i certainly will not advise our renters or anyone else to go. our waiter was rude, arrogant and argumentative. when we asked to speak to the manager, he pointed to the hostess and said she was the owner.an owner would not have acted as she did i think she was his mother as they favored each other and certainly acted the same. she was just as rude and insulting, accused us of being rude first because we had questioned the 18% gratuity for the 4 of us they put on our bill. it's well worth driving up the beach to go to other restaurants. there are some other excellent restaurants in the area with class and know how to treat their customers.

my favorite!. every year my family rents ahouseon wrightsville beach and we spend a week together. though the area has some decent restaurants, for the past decade we've been traveling the hour to oak island just for the fishhousedining experience. it is so worth it! even though we come once a year, we feel like "regulars" when we come in. i feel like we've got a bit of an extended family there. every server is kind and attentive, which is a true compliment for such a busy place. if you pass up this dining experience, you'll be missing out of the best seafood that southeastern north carolina has to offer.

pricey. we srated @ the blue water pointe hotel, there at the restaraunt. we decided that we didn't want to drive 10 miles to eat so i walked over to pick up a menu.

i was shocked by the pirces on the menu!! so, what did we do? we drove back down the island and ate at jones seafoodhouseup on oak island dr.

the prices we less than half of what the fishhousewere and it was very good.

save your $$$ and go to jones seafood house!

hostess/manager. unfortunately, we were a happy group and it seemed to really bother the hostess (who claims to be the owner) to the point that she made it her goal in life to ruin our dinner... and she succeeded in that we will never return. good news is we are sane, reasonably intelligent people who understand there are ignorant people in the world and the best way to handle that is to avoid them. the old bitter hostess at the fishhouseis one of the worst i've ever encountered. avoid it like the plague!

i would have to agree with the earlier comments on mad madge. we encountered her as well and she ruined our evening to the point we would never return no matter if the food was good or not (and the food was average at best). not a "fine dining" experience. owners need to do some rehiring and hire friendly nice north carolina folk!
