food looked great, tasted great, but was barely warm...serviceterrible, management no better. went last night, waited for about 40 minutes, very busy, order taken in a somewhat slow manner, no biggie.

food came later than others who sat down after us.

dishes looked great (stuffed flounder), and what i had tasted great, but was just barely warm.

working in restaurants for most of my youth i knew these dishes were ready long before they were served.

sent it back, and didn't want it warmed up. should have been served very soon after prepared.

and what did the waiter say? "i had a lot of tables at once". great. he apparently didn't know how to manage being a little busy. you ask for help, and you do not leave someone's ready food under the heat lamps for that long.

manager came to speak, and not one utterance of apology. first and only words were "food is made to order". said it twice. what the heck does that mean in the context of food served barely warm? it was made to order but it was held too long.

the only apology came when received the bill.

i don't t have great expectations when going anywhere new, but this was sad. the dish looked great, tasted fine, but no way in heck was i going to pay that money for slightly warm food.

beware of the horrible manager lady!!!. we had 11 in our group. after the hour wait we were seated outside at separate tables. the old lady manager would not let us slide our tables together. she had a huge spasmodic blowup on us yelling loudly at us. the waiter was rude also and forgot our orders. the food took forever but was good, even though the waiter spilled some on us. they still charged an 18% gratuity even tho they didnt seat us with our other group. beware of that blond haired mean manager. she is awful at customer service. i would go elsewhere if you want a great meal and theservicefor the price.

horrible!!!!!! theserviceis atrocious - the wait staff, manager, and chef/owner could care less about serving their customers . drive 30 miles to shallotte and eat at chili's to get a better experience.

theserviceand the treatment by the waiter, the manager, and the chef/owner does not come close to making up for the taste of the food. avoid this restaurant at all costs. lord help you if you want a burger and you're over the age of 12.

worstserviceever!. the staff was very friendly at first, we thought this was going to be an enjoyable experiance....boy were we wrong. this was my first vist to oak island and the fish house was really close to where we were staying so we thought we would give it a try. we get seated put in drinks and an appitizer it takes over 30 min for our appitizer or for us to order because our waiter was very concerend with a table of four giggly girls behind us. while ordereing the waiter was very short and rude he only came back to the table once after we ordered, we had to flag other employees down to get anything, we had no refills and couldnt get a bill. i finally go up to the register and tell them how disappointed i was (everything was fine untill we complained, then we became the problem) with theserviceas i pay (full price) , after they swipe my card the "manager" gets irate and says that they will call the police on us and they never want people like us in their resturant anyway and that we should have eaten somewhere else!!! i was appaled!! we left without leaving a tip of course, but i checked my statement two days later and they had added a $20 tip to my card! that is unethecial and as far as im concerned they stole from me! i called the owner to inform her of this and she was just as bad as the staff saying that they called the police on us and filed a report because we took a drink in a to go cup outside (where people were drinking at the marina!!) and they gave us a drink and a to go cup!! this place has zero customer service. if you do choose to go here i hope you have a good experiance because if you dont you and your family will be the problem! discussed!

payin the piper. the bottom like with these guys is that the food is very good, but somewhat overpriced. i imagine they can get away with it because they have literally, no competition. but $24.95 for a smallish piece of blackened mahi mahi is a bit of a stretch. even if it was delicious. the stuffed flounder was easily the highlight of the meal, though again, a bit of a stretch at $22. our 1/2 pound of shrimp, flavor wise was quite good, but they were slightly overcooked. for the money, the steamed clams should come with some kind of sauce or broth, not just a small bowl of melted butter. kinda lame. we sat on the patio andservicewas just fine, glad we were sitting outside because inside looked to be somewhat of a madhouse. so yes, we were pleased with our meal but felt like they put a little bit of a squeeze on us. i'll get over it.
btw. a line began forming out front about a half hour before they opened and there were people sitting outside waiting for tables most of the night, and this was on a weekday. so be prepared..

ourservicewas mediocre, but the food was good. after being ignored by the waitress for most of the meal, they proceeded to mix up our credit cards. we were so frustrated by then that we didn't leave a tip. the waitress actually followed us outside demanding why we didn't leave a tip. as i felt this was highly unprofessional i decided to call up there and speak with the manager. i proceeded to tell her how unprofessional i felt the waitress was when she told me that i was rude for not leaving a tip. she then told me that myservicewas excellent and that in future we should choose somewhere else, then she hung up on me. i fully intend not to go there again which is a shame because the food was really good.

excellent dinning. every year we vacation at oak island, nc, we make it a point to dine at the fish house. theserviceis always prompt and friendly. the food is hot, delicious and plentiful. this year we had sierra as our waitress, and she was excellent. the dining room overlooks the marsh and provides a beautiful atmosphere. we highly recommend this place for superb seafood!

don't like. this restaurant has the worst customerservicei have ever encountered. it is such a shame too, because the food is good and they have a captive audience as they are the only restaurant on the west end of oak island. we have had a rental home about a mile from there for several years. we go there whenever we visit our home and have recommended the restaurant to our renters, even leave a menu in the house for renters to see.we've encountered some attitude from the staff before but nothing like this weekend. the menu will be removed after our last visit there, as we won't go back and i certainly will not advise our renters or anyone else to go. our waiter was rude, arrogant and argumentative. when we asked to speak to the manager, he pointed to the hostess and said she was the owner.an owner would not have acted as she did i think she was his mother as they favored each other and certainly acted the same. she was just as rude and insulting, accused us of being rude first because we had questioned the 18% gratuity for the 4 of us they put on our bill. it's well worth driving up the beach to go to other restaurants. there are some other excellent restaurants in the area with class and know how to treat their customers.

definitely the place to eat. theserviceis great and the food is great. you get what you pay for and more. i recommend the sweet and sour shrimp or the stuffed flounder.

obnoxious staff/good food. i live here and have always gone here for special occasions as the food is good. 10/15 was one of those times and we went with my sister and her husband.theservicefrom the older female waitress that has been there forever was substandard per usual but this night was overwhelming, we had to go to the bar ourselves after 15 minutes of waiting for her to bring the drinks. she was abrupt, unfriendly and inefficient. after receiving the bill we saw an added 18 % for gratuity. since there were not but 4 adults and a child and theservicewas awful i went to inquire. i had to wait for the loud brassy hostess to finish relaying a story to some other customers about how she told someone else if they didn't like something that they could go elsewhere. my turn came to which i explained to her the 18%, for 4 adults and a child. somewhere on the menu, although not conspicuous enough for anyone to notice, it states 18% for 6 top or separate checks. i informed her the separate checks were for her convenience and she could put it all on one as far as i cared. also told her that i had no problem tipping well if theservicewas good but it was far from it. evidently this waitress has stayed her so long because she automatically gets paid wether she earns it or not and 9 times out of 10 she does not. she knows this and doesn't care about theserviceshe gives. long story short she told me she would take it off because legally i don't have to pay the tip and to give her what i want to. as we were leaving the waitress slammed out the back door hollaring obscenities as we left!! go somewhere else!!

we love this place! everything from the salads(try the cucumber wasabi dressing) and appetizers, to the entrees was fresh, hot, and delicious! theservice(our waitperson's name was sierra) was impeccable! i highly recommend this restaurant!

i love this place!. the good:
the food is really, really good. get the crabdip and i promise you won't be disappointed. the steam pot for two has enough in it for 3. the view is great and it's perfect for smaller children.

the not so good:
this is not the place to linger. it's small and therefore they make their money by getting folks in and out. don't expect to sit around sipping on your coffee. you drink, eat and get gone. theservicecan also be hit or miss. we've had everything from very friendly to almost rude. there's a tall, older waitress there we call mad marge - avoid her like the plague. the hostess/manager up front also doesn't have much patience.

lastly:
get there early. the doors open at 5 and at 5:15 the wait is 45 minutes. overall, it's definitely worth chancing the not so good to enjoy everything else.

the food was pretty good, but what fried food isn't?if you're looking for a nice dinner, avoid this place. their menu is much better suited for lunch. that having been said, sitting by the water is really nice. great atmosphere for beer and appetizers. the tuna bites are stellar, and ourservicewas very good.
