the staff.... the staff in this place are exceptional! it is like clockwork in there and the bus girl is amazing and they are all very very hardworking! the food is the best i have ever tasted. they make you feel right at home from the second you walk through their doors. i bring friends and family here every chance i get, the prices may be a little high but the food is worth every penny and we always take home left overs. definately recommend this place to everyone.

definitely the place to eat. the service is great and the food is great. you get what you pay for and more. i recommend the sweet and sour shrimp or the stuffed flounder.

my favorite!. every year my family rents a house on wrightsville beach and we spend a week together. though the area has some decent restaurants, for the past decade we've been traveling the hour to oak island just for the fish house dining experience. it is so worth it! even though we come once a year, we feel like "regulars" when we come in. i feel like we've got a bit of an extended family there. every server is kind and attentive, which is a true compliment for such a busy place. if you pass up this dining experience, you'll be missing out of the best seafood that southeastern north carolina has to offer.

obnoxious staff/good food. i live here and have always gone here for special occasions as the food is good. 10/15 was one of those times and we went with my sister and her husband.the service from the older female waitress that has been there forever was substandard per usual but this night was overwhelming, we had to go to the bar ourselves after 15 minutes of waiting for her to bring the drinks. she was abrupt, unfriendly and inefficient. after receiving the bill we saw an added 18 % for gratuity. since there were not but 4 adults and a child and the service was awful i went to inquire. i had to wait for the loud brassy hostess to finish relaying a story to some other customers about how she told someone else if they didn't like something that they could go elsewhere. my turn came to which i explained to her the 18%, for 4 adults and a child. somewhere on the menu, although not conspicuous enough for anyone to notice, it states 18% for 6 top or separate checks. i informed her the separate checks were for her convenience and she could put it all on one as far as i cared. also told her that i had no problem tipping well if the service was good but it was far from it. evidently this waitress has stayed her so long because she automatically gets paid wether she earns it or not and 9 times out of 10 she does not. she knows this and doesn't care about the service she gives. long story short she told me she would take it off because legally i don't have to pay the tip and to give her what i want to. as we were leaving the waitress slammed out the back door hollaring obscenities as we left!! go somewhere else!!

hmmm.... rude waitstaff, overpriced entree's....why did i go there again? oh yeah, becuase i though it would be good. food was alright, but not worth the $, and they made us pay an extra $7 to give our 1 year old a plate to share our 3 year old's chicken tenders. really?.....a one year old...?...$7..? thats classless trying desperately to seem high end. i wonder if we gave her a bite without the plate, if they would have still charged us an extra $7. money hungry if you ask me... and why? the profit margin on the food they serve has to be about 600 percent.
i dont mind paying good money for good food, but this was neither.

pricey. we srated @ the blue water pointe hotel, there at the restaraunt. we decided that we didn't want to drive 10 miles to eat so i walked over to pick up a menu.

i was shocked by the pirces on the menu!! so, what did we do? we drove back down the island and ate at jones seafood house up on oak island dr.

the prices we less than half of what the fish house were and it was very good.

save your $$$ and go to jones seafood house!

hostess/manager. unfortunately, we were a happy group and it seemed to really bother the hostess (who claims to be the owner) to the point that she made it her goal in life to ruin our dinner... and she succeeded in that we will never return. good news is we are sane, reasonably intelligent people who understand there are ignorant people in the world and the best way to handle that is to avoid them. the old bitter hostess at the fish house is one of the worst i've ever encountered. avoid it like the plague!

i would have to agree with the earlier comments on mad madge. we encountered her as well and she ruined our evening to the point we would never return no matter if the food was good or not (and the food was average at best). not a "fine dining" experience. owners need to do some rehiring and hire friendly nice north carolina folk!

i love this place!. the good:
the food is really, really good. get the crabdip and i promise you won't be disappointed. the steam pot for two has enough in it for 3. the view is great and it's perfect for smaller children.

the not so good:
this is not the place to linger. it's small and therefore they make their money by getting folks in and out. don't expect to sit around sipping on your coffee. you drink, eat and get gone. the service can also be hit or miss. we've had everything from very friendly to almost rude. there's a tall, older waitress there we call mad marge - avoid her like the plague. the hostess/manager up front also doesn't have much patience.

lastly:
get there early. the doors open at 5 and at 5:15 the wait is 45 minutes. overall, it's definitely worth chancing the not so good to enjoy everything else.

excellent food. this is the best restaurant on oak island speaking as a resident who has eaten here many times. the broiled grouper is terrific. i have found it is generally best to get the "fresh catch". it is a beautiful location too.

the food was pretty good, but what fried food isn't?if you're looking for a nice dinner, avoid this place. their menu is much better suited for lunch. that having been said, sitting by the water is really nice. great atmosphere for beer and appetizers. the tuna bites are stellar, and our service was very good.
