very knowledgable staff and great, fresh specials. we went there for dinner on taco tuesday and it was very empty and i don't know why! this place has some amazing menu items. i suggest the fried oyster nachos - if you've never had oysters it will be a great first time experience. i also suggest anything they have on their main board because it changes daily depending on what is most fresh. if i lived in the area i would gobackagain and again.

stay away from the oysters today!! i was all pumped about some fresh oysters and after the first bite, i'm going to be lucky if i don't get sick!! i sent thembackand the manager never even came and apologized... the waitress was nice and i asked her what she thought and she said they looked and smelled bad to her, and she eats them often... poor manager skills today and i hope and pray i don't get sick!!!

we have eaten at fish city many times, but this was our first time at the new location. my husband and i chose to try the new spot out for date night, and it did not disappoint! honestly, it may have been our best trip to fish city to date. i love the ambiance of the new location! having lived on the gulf for a summer in my early 20's, it immediately gave me that coastal fish shack vibe, and i meant shack in a positive way....nothing run down about it! it seemed there were more specials than i recall in the past, and the new specials board is huge, as well as a second board just for oyster options. we started out with oysters and were tickled! they were excellent! we had the gulf band oysters, but also had the opportunity to try one each of the other oysters on the menu, as well as one that will soon be featured called the sting ray. my husband tried the sting ray and said it was his favorite, with the gulf band a close second. next date night, we will bebackto get a dozen of each!  we were pleased there were craft beers on tap, nice to see most places do now a days. there is a full bar, specialty cocktails, and wines beyond just house wines. they have a great happy hour special too, you wouldn't want to miss that. the service really stood out...and it always has. i have only had service that wasn't stand out once, though. fish city truly hires excellent servers, and brandon is no exception. he was always there the moment we needed, but never hovered. he was humorous and very informative! he really made the experience extra special. for dinner, we had crawfish, which is exactly what we came for. they have 4 seasoning options, or you can have them without. i had nitro, which was delicious, and my husband had hair on fire. my husband is a chef and he said it was one of the best flavors in a boil he has ever had. the only complaint (which isn't really a complaint) we could have is we wish there had been 2-3 potatoes with them instead one. that may sound silly, but that one potato was just that good! the corn was delicious. overall experience was clearly wonderful and we will bebacksoon!

have not visited this little seafood gem in over a year but took a group of seven adults here tonight. we were seated immediately and quickly gave our drink orders. the menu is shorter than we remember, mostly seafood items with burgers, chicken sandwiches and a steak offering; there are still fresh/specials on the blackboard. we had clam chowder, fried pickles and oyster nachos as appetizers, they were all delicious and nicely presented. our entrees were the blackened seafood platter, shrimp and oysters, fish and chips, chipotle fish tacos, the fresh horseradish encrusted salmon special, catfish platter and oysters. everything was hot, prepared simply and excellent. there were no leftovers from our seven plates! substitutions off the menu, such as grits for waffle fries or salad for the cole slaw were handled with courtesy and grace. service was attentive without being too close or familiar. it was a bit pricey: our check for three entrees, a cup of chowder, fried pickles and one beer was $72 without the tip. we also shared beignets for dessert but while they were straight out of the fryer they were greasy and not particularly memorable. we will skip the beignets next time but certainly we will gobackmore often for good seafood and great service!

my wife and i stopped in for lunch today (a saturday). we were greeted and seated fine but it's all downhill from there. we ordered 2 waters with lemon (we had to ask twice for lemon and waited 30 mins before we got them), 2 hurricanes ($7 each and really weak, we are from s. louisiana and know what a real hurricane should taste like), a crawfish po boy (the crawfish were very rubbery and there was an unusual taste to them and the batter was extremely oily), and a blackened shrimp po boy (i was brought a fried po boy instead with terribly oily batter, i sent the po boybackfor what i ordered and had to wait 15 minutes more for my actual order). the servers who grossly outnumbered the customers were all busy socializing, dancing around, and playing on their phones to pay attention to the customers. i even seen a server flip off the cash register while kids and families were present in the dining room. there was a serious lack of professionalism here. i was never asked if i needed a refill on my water. when i received the bill it was for $41, the math doesn't add up $14 for drinks and $21 for food equals $35, i reckon i deserved $6 in tax. i will never return here!

one of the best. my boyfriend and i stopped by because we were craving seafood and it was the best decision we have ever made. our calamari appetizer was so good and was gone in 2 minutes. the service was fast and our waiter never let our water drop past half empty. the fish and shrimp were probably the best we have ever had. the prices are also pretty reasonable. we will definetely comebacksoon.

terrible food.. i sentbacka shrimp meal b/c the shrimp was obviously spoiled. i was told by the waiter that he asked two other waiters to smell it and said it smelled fine. i'm a 12-year veteran executive chef with a phd in food science, and i was flabbergasted! with this kind of attitude and lack of attention to detail, i would be surprised if someone hasn't gotten ill.

really good place to eat. half shells is a unique look and feel within the chic shops of legacy area. it's a relaxed bar setting with stamped cement and rustic feel as the decor. it has an instant appeal. chalkboard walls and boards are used throughout the restaurant to list the daily catch and specials.

the blackened tilapia and cheese infused grits were really good. the blackened spices were blended just right with the fresh taste of the tilapia. the grits were very good. the bits of real bacon were a nice touch. my server was top notch. he was attentive and caring. he asked that i comebackand bring the family. it was done in such a nice way, that i will probably take him up on it.

worst service i have ever had in a restaurant. had to wait forever for drinks and then waiter had to go and talk bartender into pouring them instead of talking to one guy at bar. got order
wrong even tho we were the only people there. would have forgiven bad service if waiter hadn't gotten miffed at us for saying something not ever goingbackhere.

pricey but worth it.. so whenever my wife and i can't decide where to go for dinner. this is usually a fallbackthat we both agree upon. it usually isn't our first choice because it can be a little pricey but i can't recall anytime we were not happy with our meal.

for a fish place you would expect it to smell like fish but it doesn't which i can't say for the few times i've been in big chain places like red lobster.

the servers are attentive and knowledgeable of the food.

the place is small but anytime we've been we were seated promptly.

the bread pudding is delicious and i highly recommend it.

check out their chalk special board for what's new. my wife usually gets stuff off there and has been happy with the choices or recommendations of the staff.

surprising. i am not a fish lover so i was reluctant when my family decided to go to fish city grill for a birthday celebration. when we got there i perused the menu, expecting to be disappointed, but found pot roast there and gave it a try. i'd gobackany day for the pot roast! it's as good as anyplace and better than most. imagine that, bringing harmony to the family in a fish place!
