we were fans of the brentwood location and so we thought a venue close to home would become a regular haunt. boy, were we wrong. besides the employees constantly looking back at the several cameras nervously, customer service of any kind is compltely void. if thefoodwas on par with the original, maybe we might consider going back and giving it another try. after two sub-standard experiences, the third time was the closer. it was my 33rd birthday and we took our well trained boston terrier out with us for dinner on a tuesday night. we asked the doorman if it was ok to sit at the end of the almost completely vacant patio with her before we even parked the car. he said yes as long as she stayed outside the gate. we ordered and got ourfoodand the dog creeped 4 inches inside the gate unnoticed by us. a buss boy pointed it out and we quickly corrected the situation. after that the buss boy came out to check on us so frequently, he mind as well as just taken post behind us like a nazi soldier. i felt like i was 10. as if our night was not already bad enough, it got worse. the same busser started to clear our half empty plates and drinks because we eat slow and like to talk and enjoy dinner more like an event than a animal feeding. when we said we were not finished, he retorted that he "was doing his job" in a aggressive and rude tone. i asked for his name and he got close to my husband and said that we could talk to his manager, but if he wanted a "piece of him". . . we decided to eat somewhere else. we paid for everything we ordered and left our uneatenfoodand full drinks. we will never to back and will tell everyone we know to do the same.

i always liked the original, but after our experience the other night at the culver city location, i won't be giving father's office any more business. we had a large group, celebrating 3 people's birthdays. we were there for a while, and all boughtfoodand several drinks. but when we tried to share a birthday cake that a friend brought, not only were we told we could not have any outside food, but then the manager came and threatened to kick us all out and posted a security guard at our table to make sure we didn't try to eat the cake when she left. now i know fo is all about doing it their way, but this was absurd. they don't even offer dessert on the menu! very poor handling of the situation by the manager. the cake nazi and her black-clad cake police will not be seeing another cent from me or any of the other dozen folks in my group. i recommend you find another spot for burgers and beer; someplace that includes customer service on the menu.

beers and burger!. the place gets packed fast, especially on the weekends, so get there early. good selection of beers and a simple menu. i've only ever had the burger and i feel like that's all you need. couple beers, a really good burger, some sweet potato fries and it's a good night. i agree with the one review that mentions that it's not such a novelty anymore offer such a selection of draft beers. but, the beer andfoodare good and it's a cool atmosphere, so i'll be back!

worst service in la! if thefoodeven compared to the montana st. location they might be able to pull it off. . especially since they have an amazing beer selection on tap, but i have to reccommend to anyone considering visiting this establishment, don't. try the library ale house on main st instead. you will get a better burger, much better service, same (if not better) tap beer selection, and much better atmosphere to boot. do not go to this fathers office unless you want to be treated like a child by the entire "service" staff and are willing to stand in line and then pay for the abuse.

greatfoodand one of the best burgers i've ever had! love the large beer selection and the mixed drinks are very good as well. it can get crowded at times but not unbearably so. the spanish mushrooms are always a good starter for me. it's a laid back place that often has sports playing on the few tvs strewn about the place but it's no sports bar. the lighting is always dark and no loud kids to ruin the experience as it's a 21 and older establishment.

cool hangout, good food. this gastropub has a great atmosphere. if you’re looking for a trendy bar with gourmet food, this is the place. the menu is small and they do not allow any customizations to your order, but thefoodis good. the burger i had was juicy and the bread was fresh. it’s location is great, because it seems like it is the only business in the area that is open after “regular” business hours. so, there’s plenty of free parking in the lot nearby. we just stopped in for a quick bite to eat, but this seems like a great place to meet up with friends, have a beer and hang out.

not for adults over 35. seriously. my sister and i found ourselves swarmed by young drunken 20-something professionals who were extremely loud. all that was offered on the menu were drinks and trying to orderfoodwas next to impossible. the atmosphere is more that of a sexual meat market for young adults who haven't yet gone through a rodeo or two. needless to say, we left and found a more mature place down the street to enjoy our dinner. we will neither go back to father's in the future nor will we recommend it to anyone we know.

delicious, juicy burgers!. i would honestly place this in the top 5 burgers i have ever had. the ground beef must have been mixed with butter, the meat was soooo juicy! i ate every bite of it, and it was not small. also, their appetizers are fantastic- we had some little balls of something potatoeish (?), sweet potato and garlic fries and the shrimp plate- all were devoured!! also good was the duck and fig salad, the skin on the duck was nice and crispy and the duck was moist. i was pretty hesitant because this place is pretty "trendy", but thefoodsurpassed my expectations. their menu on menu pages is missing quite a few things, and has things on it that i didn't see when i was there. i will be back for another tasty burger soon!

father's office is one of the new breed of hip gastropubs that are popping up all over town. a gastropub, you ask??? take a pub, add some gourmet-ishfoodto the menu, dress the place up so it has a hip vibe and focus on boutique beers, spirits and such,

overrated & over-hyped: f.o. delivers sub-standardfood& terrible service. after hearing rave reviews about father's office, i finally had a chance to try the place for myself. i expected a fairly minimal approach to thefood& service, assuming there would be a restricted menu that focused on fewer, higher-quality options.

while the menu is indeed small, the quality is just not there.

now, to be clear, i'm a fairly easy audience. i have only rarely given a negative review.... of anything. but the experience at father's office was so bad that i signed-up with urbanspoon only with the hope of sparing someone else from the bad experience my party & i had there.

there was nothing disastrous about the food; it was on par with any burger you'd find at a small restaurant -- it's simply that it wasn't what we considered to be a "good" burger (and nowhere near the "great" burger we expected from past reviews). of course, the fact that they only serve the burger their way offended some of us; but i would have been ok with that if their choice of burger was somehow superior to the standard idea of a burger... or was even tasty in its own right. instead, you get a very "so-so" burger and a sinking feeling that you've been suckered into trying this lackluster restaurant.

beyond the meager quality of food, the service was absolutely horrible. the staff is annoying & inconsiderate and met any of our questions with snobbish indifference. i get that f.o. wants to do everything their way, but the staff has no concern for communicating why that is; they just answer "we don't do that here" as if they are upset that you could possibly want something more than the averagefood& beer they serve.

the one place where the staff seem concerned was with their fries. we were told "if anything is wrong with the fries, if they're too cold or not crisp enough, let me know & we'll make them right." wow. concern for only their fries. that's... a shockingly poor standard forfoodservice.

but, from what i had heard before, i thought that this could have just been an off-night for f.o. so i tried father's office again - twice. (i was really hoping to find a great place for a burger & beer.) sadly, both occasions resulted in similar disappointment. on the 2nd visit, the bartender seemed to have had enough with seeing such unhappy patrons and just said "i know, i know... it's not how i'd do it either..."

by the way, the beer there is fine. nothing amazing; but a good overall selection. i think that, when f.o. began, it was rare to offer such a selection of draft beer. now, not so much. but, at least they don't screw it up -- just don't ask for any type of mixed beer (such as a snackbite which is lager & cider), they will not mix beers.

all of this being said, the place was packed on 2 of the 3 visits. so, i'm sure that f.o. could care less that their customers are happy -- as long as enough people are out there repeating the idea that father's office is great, then there are enough people in this city to supply them with new customers. from everything i've heard since visiting, there are few people that see reason to go back again.

father is a control freak. there's nothing special about the (apparently) famous "father's office burger". i found it dry and almost flavorless. don't try to alter any of the ingredients -- it's not allowed. the policy is posted in writing above the bar. come on, even burger king lets you "have it your way". not father's office. for example, the burger comes with bleu cheese, which makes me gag. i was told that if i didn't like bleu cheese, i should order something other than the burger.

i'm generally willing to try anything once, so i took my chances and ordered the f.o. burger "as is", because i was eager to experience what others were calling "the best burger in l.a." my review of the burger is analogous to my review of father's office in general. over hyped, over rated, and ultimately bland and unmemorable.

i was there for lunch, so i ordered an iced tea with my burger. they don't have iced tea. i asked for ketchup for my fries. they don't have ketchup. i'm thinking, "come on, even burger king has iced tea and ketchup." not father's office.

father's office is exactly like burger king in certain ways. you have to order at the counter, where you're given a small plastic placard with a number on it. you find a seat somewhere, and wait for the server/busboy to deliver the food. when the place is crowded -- as it often is -- i imagine yourfoodprobably gets toured around the entire space before you and your small plastic number are finally located by the server.

father's office exudes the snooty attitude of a trendy gourmet restaurant, with customer service on par with burger king. the difference is, you pay a lot more and you have to have it "their way".

best hangout in all of la. all i have to say is i brought my friends there just a few months ago and now we don't meet up anywhere else. it is a shock to people who are used to the santa monica location just how big the culver city spot is. the rows of microbrews are a joy in every way imaginable. thefoodis terrific. this is an ambitious pure gastropub menu, no substitutions. go to wendy's if you're looking for that. it has beef marrow of all things. the burger is the best in the city and the many tapas dishes are incredible.
