very rude staff!. the burger was very good (as i'd heard) and the place was packed (as i'd also heard). there was a long line to get in, but that's to be expected for a newly-opened trendy spot. the reason for my low rating is the amazingly rude staff member i encountered. while enjoying drinks and dinner with a group of friends in the outdoor seating area i got a little chilly and decided to go to the car to grab a jacket. instead of wading back through the dense crowd to walk out the door i hopped over a short railing (less than waist high) that runs along the wall separating the restaurant from the street. as soon as i did, this very intense "bouncer" guy rushed over and said very forcefully, "i'm not going to let you back in tonight." he went on in the stern tone of an angry parent, "why would you do that? why wouldn't you just walk through and use the door?" i apologized and said, "i'm sorry, i just thought this would be quicker. i wasn't thinking." but then the guy kept pushing it! he was right up in my face going on about how he'd already kicked five people out that night for jumping over the railing. i apologized again but he continued to dress me down like a little kid, which caused a scene and was very embarrassing. it was like the guy wanted a fight, but i continued to apologize and keep my cool. finally, he said he'd let me back in but i'd have to wait in line again (even though my friends were all still at the table). i guess it was his way of "punishing" me! the thing is, i understand why they don't want customers jumping over the railing and i see how someone could get hurt doing it. but maybe they should get a higher railing or put up signs instead of treating their customers like juvenile delinquents. this is one 33 year old man who won't be going back to a restaurant where i'm going to be spoken to like a child. it's unfortunate that a disrespectful staff member ruined the experience. for a great burger and a friendly staff try the counter.

we were fans of the brentwood location and so we thought a venue close to home would become a regular haunt. boy, were we wrong. besides the employees constantly looking back at the several cameras nervously, customer service of any kind is compltely void. if the food was on par with the original, maybe we might consider going back and giving it another try. after two sub-standard experiences, the third time was the closer. it was my 33rd birthday and we took our well trained boston terrier out with us for dinner on a tuesday night. we asked the doorman if it was ok to sit at the end of the almost completely vacant patio with her before we even parked the car. he said yes as long as she stayed outside the gate. we ordered and got our food and the dog creeped 4 inches inside the gate unnoticed by us. a buss boy pointed it out and we quickly corrected the situation. after that the buss boy came out to check on us so frequently, he mind as well as just taken post behind us like a nazi soldier. i felt like i was 10. as if our night was not already bad enough, it got worse. the same busser started to clear our half empty plates and drinks because we eat slow and like to talk and enjoy dinner more like an event than a animal feeding. when we said we were not finished, he retorted that he "was doing his job" in a aggressive and rude tone. i asked for his name and he got close to my husband and said that we could talk to his manager, but if he wanted a "piece of him". . . we decided to eat somewhere else. we paid for everything we ordered and left our uneaten food and full drinks. we will never to back and will tell everyone we know to do the same.

i always liked the original, but after our experience the other night at the culver city location, i won't be giving father's office any more business. we had a large group, celebrating 3 people's birthdays. we were there for a while, and all bought food and several drinks. but when we tried to share a birthday cake that a friend brought, not only were we told we could not have any outside food, but then the manager came and threatened to kick us all out and posted a security guard at our table to make sure we didn't try to eat the cake when she left. now i know fo is all about doing it their way, but this was absurd. they don't even offer dessert on the menu! very poor handling of the situation by the manager. the cake nazi and her black-clad cake police will not be seeing another cent from me or any of the other dozen folks in my group. i recommend you find another spot for burgers and beer; someplace that includes customer service on the menu.

1) the name. me padre is a lovely man. after all, the guy wooed his wife with a classical guitar concert and is a man of god. still, no one wants to go to a restaurant with a name that recalls the austere parental figure, especially if the gent actually c

the smoked eel was wonderful, although i wish i had sliced toasted baguette pieces to put the deliciously soft eel on. the hubby shared a slice of the office burger with me and i’m surprised he shared because i wouldn’t have. instead of molded ground beef, the patty is made with small chunks of beef formed tightly together, salted sufficiently to bring out that singular beef taste. the patty is hefty enough that you could almost forget that it’s sandwiched between two pieces of bread.

terrible service. some of the worst customer service i have ever received!! not a man of many words, so i'll just say this: it takes a lot for me to lose my cool or take the time to write a bad review, but this places warrants both. they have cameras set up all over the place and the staff are constantly looking at them while they talk to you, but there are obviously not speakers, because there is not a restaurant in all of la that would allow their staff to speak the way this one does.

simplicity. i am a fan of simple things - processes, designs, operations - and father's office is exactly that. simple wood panels on the walls, everyone orders at the same location (the bar), and the menu is short (in my opinion, resulting in better quality dishes). however, the menu may be too short considering the uncommon items, but i do understand the point of a gastropub. . . either way, i found my way to the burger with a side of sweet potato fries. the burger was slightly undercooked in respect to my order, but that did not detract from the taste. the burger was one of the best i have ever had (the restaurant's menu is not on the site but the burger had gruyere, bleu cheese, arugula, and caramelized onions that taste similar to bbq sauce, on a role, not a bun, which is a big plus). beer selection is not incredible, but they maintain the class by finding ones that are not commonly served. be warned (again, recognizing that it is a gastropub) that the price is a little high, but the value is subjective. everything was delicious, beverages are served in the appropriate glassware (awesome), the restaurant's aesthetics were perfect, and the staff were friendly. thumbs up.

beers and burger!. the place gets packed fast, especially on the weekends, so get there early. good selection of beers and a simple menu. i've only ever had the burger and i feel like that's all you need. couple beers, a really good burger, some sweet potato fries and it's a good night. i agree with the one review that mentions that it's not such a novelty anymore offer such a selection of draft beers. but, the beer and food are good and it's a cool atmosphere, so i'll be back!

worst service in la! if the food even compared to the montana st. location they might be able to pull it off. . especially since they have an amazing beer selection on tap, but i have to reccommend to anyone considering visiting this establishment, don't. try the library ale house on main st instead. you will get a better burger, much better service, same (if not better) tap beer selection, and much better atmosphere to boot. do not go to this fathers office unless you want to be treated like a child by the entire "service" staff and are willing to stand in line and then pay for the abuse.

customer matters?? service?. this restaurant came recommended by friends who regularly frequent another location. we consider ourselves 'foodies' and eat out at least 3 nights a week. i don't know if there are different owners or a different chef, but i gave this place two tries and can not imagine anyone i know suggesting it to anyone.
first of all, there are no servers. for the number of bussers/runners constantly trying to pull your plate out, they could easily replace a few with real servers. you have to order from the -already busy making drinks - bar tenders. once you find a spot and get settled and some runner drops your food, forget about asking for a missing fork or napkin or s&p. if you do so, it is like you have committed a mortal sin and from that point on the staff starts picking on you. buss boys come to clear your plates every few minutes and give you loads of attitude. if you want to re-live any kind of elementary school bullying nightmare. . .well this is the place for you.

great food and one of the best burgers i've ever had! love the large beer selection and the mixed drinks are very good as well. it can get crowded at times but not unbearably so. the spanish mushrooms are always a good starter for me. it's a laid back place that often has sports playing on the few tvs strewn about the place but it's no sports bar. the lighting is always dark and no loud kids to ruin the experience as it's a 21 and older establishment.

the menu is as cute as the name. but the burgers are serious business. esquire magazine rates the office burger among the best in the world. so will you. expect long lines, and a constant buzzing energy. umm, who's that sitting across from me? didn't he have a show on the disney channel? up your standards and order the obscurest craft beer. follow the rules, and don't go asking asking for anything fancy on your burger like ketchup.
