me and my beautiful natalie decided to go out for a bite to eat and she told me to tryfahrenheitas i havent been there before. we had some halloumi for starters and i decided to have the smokey joe burger. my beautiful natalie had the melanzo. food was quite good,the melanzo could have been better presented though. good experience overall...nice building and friendly staff as well.

i decided i’d check outfahrenheitafter hearing some decent things about the views this restaurant has to offer. i’d also heard some not-so-decent things and wanted to validate those claims. alas, below is my take on one of charlotte’s newest offerings in the restaurant world.

i recently moved to the west from the east and the only restaurant i miss isfahrenheitin edenvale! this is by far the best restaurant in the east, from seafood to steak. excellent waiters, customer service, the food is always of good quality and the prices are reasonable! really hope they are looking at opening one in the west. the only reason they got 4.5 from me is because on sundays they do not have a smoking area :) !!

let me start by saying that i have been going tofahrenheitedenvale for the last 7 - 8 years about 6 times a year and ive never had anything to complain about until last monday night.

we went for the steak special. upon arriving we were given a table in what must have been the darkest corner ive ever seen in a restaurant. looking around i could see that the ceiling light directly above us was out. it was so dark we couldn't see our menus. i didn't want to be moved because the air con in the other sections was set to way too low a temperature so we just used our phone flashlights to read the menu.

the waiter then came to take our order. i ordered escargots as a starter and was duly told they are out of stock (kudos to our waiter for being informed on the restaurants stock outs).

then the evening got really strange regarding the house wine. my partner ordered a glass of spier cab sav for r55. i ordered the house wine for r30. when our wines came, my glass was half the size of hers??? i asked our waiter why and he explained to me that because i had paid less i got less wine. i argued that surely i paid less because i got a wine that was not the same quality. this whole discussion seemed to make my waiter very uncomfortable and he said he would get the manager to come and explain to me. well im still waiting.

upon finishing our meal we couldn't find our waiter when we wanted the bill. over the next 25 minutes we asked 4 different waiters to ask our waiter to bring our bill. after 25 minutes our waiter reappeared and informed me that no one had told him and he would organise our bill straight away. that took another 10 minutes and we eventually got out there.

i am not blaming the waiter here because i think that most of these issues were out of his control.

it was just generally a bad experience and i think management needs to put their hands up here and do better.

i gave the 1 star because our food was very good, as usual.

i have visitedfahrenheitseveral times and i have never been disappointed. their rump steaks are out of this world, the service is always on point, the managers and staff are friendly and attentive. i have brought colleagues and business associates here on a few occasions and all have loved it. and best of all, prices are still very reasonable in comparison.

we decided to have our family lunch at this restaurant, and we didn't have a reservation due to it having been an impromptu decision. there is ample parking at this restaurant, and a guard overseeing the parking lot. we quickly made our way inside the restaurant and were quickly seated even though the area closest to the kiddies play area was full. there are huge facilities for kids to have their fun including arcade games, trampolines etc.
my 6 year old ordered a kiddies pizza which he had to make himself by rolling dough, choosing toppings before having it baked for him. he really enjoyed that activity. he had the bubblegum milkshake which he said he didn't enjoy as it was more grainy than smooth. i had the 600gram lamb chops served with rice and what a great and enjoyable meal it was. i devoured everythingon the plate. omphemetse mafubelu ordered thefahrenheitsteak which she wolved down with ease and precision. she also enjoyed the strawberry daiquiri.
the service from our waiter was top-notch. management was also quite visible ensuring that all went smoothly.
the restaurant was clean considering the volume of patrons that were there.
we would definitely return for our date night.

what started out as a crazy trip, travelling half way a cross johannesburg...a monday madness 400g steak and a side for r89 fromfahrenheitactually ended up being an epic adventure!

i never heard of fahrenheit! i guess i was thinking of the usual steak houses. back in the day it was only one option...spur, spur or spur... alas today we are spoilt for options.

edenvale is so lucky to have such an institution that really is fine dining at it's best. some may call it casual...but it's mighty fine.

the setting is what looks like is an old enormous house that's been converted into a very smart and stylish restaurant...oh and romantic.

sadly i have not yet experienced the chicken or seafood but the steaks are so amazing...i can just imagine what the rest of the menu is like.

the staff are so friendly and waiters assigned to sections, so you get a personalised experience...
i remember thinking that this place has to be pretty great if they are so packed on a monday.

i place my order and wait...check the menu out and wow it goes on and on and everything looks just too good to be true. the options are ludicrous...

my meal arrives.... 400g is pretty big and i just love my baked potatoes.
after preparing my baked potato by distributing salt, butter and cream all over it evenly and waiting for the combination to soak in...i turn to that mouthwatering steak.
the first bite! and wow...it just melts in your mouth and the flavor is amazing...
i can't seem to put my knife and fork down to have some more wine.
yes i'm thinking it and my arms are not responding to my mind...."i want a glass of wine!"
but my mind is telling me no! my hands refuse to let go of the knife and fork.

half time haha, i really need a glass of wine but then there is the baked potato.... drooping with butter and cream. i can't resist!!!
now my mind is really confused...."cntrl alt and delete!" options...
steak?
wine?
baked potato?
omg ...what am i supposed to do now?

sigh! maybe a breather....?

i could not believe the quality of that steak, more so could not believe that not only did i finish the steak and baked potato, i failed to finish my wine.:-)

well that's a first!

how has this establishment been a secret since opening its doors in 2007 is amazing.
i can't wait to try their other branches out and start exploring the menu...

magic monday madness at fahrenheit...

the original and best of thefahrenheitrestaurants... i've probably been here 30+ times, and have not once had anything disappointing! the food is always of an extremely high standard, and my daughters and i love the atmosphere (and they love the gigantic play area).
a definite recommendation to anyone!!

thought we'd givefahrenheitanother chance and it was much better than the previous occasion.
shared a french roquefort salad. fresh and tasty.
for mains we had the special sirloin on the bone pepper crusted with a jalapeño sauce. served medium rare as ordered. the t-bone steak was also excellent and lastly the 200g sirloin was perfect. finished off with baked potato.
we did byo for the wine. no dessert.
service was prompt and professional.
ambience was a bit bland but functional.
much better than last time.
good call for quick great steak.

i have tried several dishes atfahrenheitover the past couple of years. steak, hake, prawns, calamari, etc. all were excellent.
i had never tried their burgers until today. i tried their burger which is currently a lunch special, mon-fri, 12-4 pm, excluding weekends and public holidays.
my oh my! has a burger ever put you in a good mood? this burger made me so happy :-) it had been a while since i enjoyed a burger this much.
the burger was huge, juicy and moist with a slight smokiness topped with crispy onion rings, and accompanied by a barbecue sauce. the chips were served with a fresh and spicy homemade tomato relish. great flavours and so enjoyable.

we want tofahrenheitfor dinner last friday night and were afraid we may not get a table as we didn't have a booking.

luckily the staff were friendly and accommodating and quickly showed us to our table. we both ordered the calamari main, stuffed with danish feta. it was outstanding. cooked just right and delicious. the veggies were a bit disappointing, but still edible.

the music was extremely soft so there wasn't much of a vibe, but the food made up for it. the service was great and the food came quickly.

about a year ago, i would have given them a higher score than this--at least a 4.0.  we went there regularly--we were well known there--and thoroughly enjoyed their curry, steaks, fish, calamari, and especially their crepe suzette.  we also liked the service, the atmosphere, and the ambiance.  as far as i know there hasn't been a decline in quality, but the prices have gone absolutely insane.  these are illovo or hyde park prices, not edenvale prices.

 (edenvale people are conscientious of the cost, quality, and quantity balance.  they are a down-to-earth crowd--including the rich edenvale folk, not inclined toward overpriced dining just for the sake of appearances, pomp, and image.  they know what's good, appreciate the value of money, and don't care to be ripped off.) 
i do not go to expensive restaurants.
so i'm afraid i'm going to have to erasefahrenheitfrom my list of places to eat out.

over the past 5-6 yearsfahrenheithas become a top player in the restaurant scene in the edenvale / greenstone area. the restaurant is perpetually busy and the quality of food doesn't seem to deteriorate as the restaurant gets fuller. my tip is to order yourself a succulent steak, you won't be dissapointed.

i was not impressed. they spend a lot on advertising but not on the quality of the food. service was average.fahrenheitis not memorable at all.
